My girlfriend and i were walking in her backyard yesterday and i saw one before i even knew what it was. i just said dont go near him. my first instinct though, was to grab it haha
we get those in missouri today i found one of these things under a rock in my backyard also i was attacked by a huge copper head these things are the only snakes i ever see out sode of garter snakes
Neat snake until you encounter one on your front porch twice in 3 months....Then they aren't so neat anymore. Oh well...I guess that's the price you pay for living in paradise.
wow nice eastern you dont see many of those anymore where i live. but still lots and lots of cottanmouths and pygmys here and there its a shame mostly dead ones with heads and rattles removed their such a pretty snake with that orange stripe down their back.
@MudDobber247 Thanks. Yes, beautiful snakes. I love the things in Nature. The pygmy were everywhere along the panhandle. The Eastern's much more elusive, but do obviously exist. Moccasin everywhere there is water there.
I've come across many dead Pygmy rattlers which become road-kill and I thought of using their skin for a purpose, but never did. But yes, the fine variations and colorations of their skin is quite an artistic achivement.
very nice specimen, im not a fan of how most duskies have the orange stripe

Very neat. You're a much braver man than I am. :)
I only handle dead ones... :) I make gun grips out of snake hide, would like to find some of this skin.
Very neat looking snakes.
