I have family currently on a buoy tender right now....your video is excellent, and helps me feel less lonely for him, but I know he loves his mission right now. You are all unsung heroes, and keep people safe. Via Con Dios, y Semper Paratus. Thanks for giving me a day to day look at a job my beloved family guardian loves so much
Spent 3 years aboard USCGC SPAR WLB 403 out of South Portland, ME. She was built in 1944 but was outfitted with some pretty neat stuff for the 70's/80's.
Tough 3 years but it's what I volunteered for...and got it.
Nice. Had a friend on the Ironwood in 87 (me skating at the SUPCEN). Got an inkling of what it was like for him when I was on the Fir a year later. Tho, we were only 140' and only went offshore once.
Ours was the oldest, would like to see the newest. GPS positioning? Bow thrusters? Still gotta do a heat and beat and scrape the critters
Funny how it sucked then, but I miss it now, eh. Semper Par!
You missed the showing how they put it back. Yes it's somewhat reversed but the chain going over the side is the fun part.
