Excellent job bro! I'm one of those fans that was lucky enough to see him live about 7 times. One weekend, we drove across MI to catch him Grand Rapids, stayed the night, and then drove to Ann Arbor to catch him the following night. His shows were a religious experience. From waiting in line with like minded people, to watching him in intimate club settings, where you could hear him humming melodies over his instrumental songs, or hear his bare feets keeping time on the floor. I miss his shows.
thanks rootwtich! and thank you for sharing the memories. did you ever get to meet him? i met one of my acoustic guitar heros, leo kottke earlier this year! i told him that i have been playing guitar for the past five years and that i was trying to learn michael hedges tunes. his eyes widened, and he told me to look into john stropes transcriptions. i also told him that i wanted to learn his tunes but they wear my hand out due to my poor technique, he smiled and said, once it's their it's their.
thank you for the kind words! are you one of those hedges fans who liked him when he was alive and still do to this day? or are you like me, someone who found out about him after he died and never got to see im play . (i hate being one of those fans, and i would have loved to have gotten to see him live.) only thing is, i would have been in the sixth grade and would still be listening to that god awefull rap music that thankfully i've grown out of.
