The stanley cup is probably more prestigious than the olympic gold, yes, but in the olympics players play for their country, not a team that has no true meaning to them beyond the players on it. Nationalism is a powerful thing. Furthermore players can only play in the olympics a handful of times in their careers. I think that when the Olympic gold is won, it is a different joy that is felt than when the Stanley cup is won. Just a guess.
