I agree with this comment. Now admitting, I bring in 1 or 2 standard Pokes in some battles but the rest are just some underused Pokemon that are my personal favorites.~ Gallade for example is one of them. Risky to use? Yeah he is. The satisfaction of kicking butt with him is amazing. ^^

I don't speak for everyone (it wouldn't be fair) but I think that people bring only standards because they want to win. (Personally, I'd rather win with only a couple of standards)

@KwandaoRen66 Just wanted to say I totally back your uploader comment about tiers. I don't actually battle competitively, I just enjoy watching them. Battles where you mix tiers and do all sorts of unconventional things are always more entertaining, and on top of that, most standard sets and tier formations can be completely destroyed by using something unconventional. I really feel like using tiers and predesigned sets just takes a lot of strategy and ingenuity out of the game.

Sorry if I'm coming off as an arse, but I don't like seeing someone using something awful just because. It either works, or it doesn't. Fair enough everything deserves a testing phase, but if it doesn't hold any significance over a "standard" Pokemon, then why use it? Standard pokemon are standard for a reason: they work.

But with a lack of tiers right now, you can use a lot of different things and I honestly think my computer screen has a Ferrothorn burned into it from how many times it shows up. I know it works, as do lots of other Pokes, but the fact of the matter is the metagame gets stale and old REALLY quickly if you go down that route in my opinion.

On my team which I'm working on making I currently will have a Garchomp and Ferrothorn. It's not because OMGTHEY'RETHEBEST, but because it just ended up to fit my team makeup. I hope people don't think it's whoring, I'm just trying to make a balanced type team.

I figure that's how you play anyway.

I hate that silly YouTube community mentality of "originality should prevail", no, seriously. If you want to do well, you use the most adequate utensils in your arsenal. You shouldn't shy away for standard play just because it's more entertaining; you play competitive for a reason. If you want to play for fun, why do you play by causes, or why don't you just play metronome battles. Play uncompetitive games if you want to be entertaining.
