  • So it's raining and then the rain freezes or what?

  • THATS NOTHING! my car was completly iced over! it took me and alll the folks around me 3-4 hours just to be able to go anywhere. lol. nice vid tho

  • Next time there's ice in Austin, go to that hill just East of the Capitol on the same street that runs right in front of it (don't remember the name) and video cars sliding down that (there won't be cars coming up because they can't even make it in the rain, let alone ice!).

  • rem this day in houston yall got a little more then us but we had alot

  • We have that all the time here in Montreal. xD

  • austin city is the san fransico of texas i wish more cities was like austin

  • OMGGGGGG that looks sooooo cool, i'd like to do that all day long !

  • As a Canadian. I see that every fucking day.

  • HAHA! Yeah & people seem to think it doesn't get cold in Texas!

    =)

  • Looks like a quarter to half an inch if that.

  • i remember that

  • I remember that day. If the roads ever get like that in austin, stay off the roads. The people here habe no idea how to drive in this muck. It's really dangerous!

  • AWESOME THATD BE SO COOL i thought you were breaking the windshield at first ROFL thats awesome

  • wow.... thats a lot of ice.. the uk is lucky.. but most of the uk still moan about a bit of snow or ice lol..

  • wow it looks like you're breakin a statum of your car's glass XD

  • Lools fun.

  • Did it start?

  • Yep, it's a trooper!

  • that was fun i hope it happens this year also. haha my neighbor was hitting his windows like u but one of them broke XD lol

  • I remember that storm. There was a lot of ice every where.

  • i live in New Jersey, i remember that icestorm, i was in Austin at the time, visiting family

I Hope there is a lot of snow for us

  • i enjoyed every second of this film :] thank you and i remembered that day it was horrible the day before i had to walk home from school with only a little sweater and my friend and we hitchhiked because we missed the bus that was a day before the actual freezing.

  • Maybe a "bit" intense, but since I am from Montreal, to me, that's nothing compared to the Ice Storm of January 98. The ice reached 5 inches thickness everywhere. Trust me: the ice didn't just easily get knocked like that of cars... It took easily up to 1 hour to deice the car enough to simply move it somewhere close. If you were brave (and stupid) enough to need to DRIVE the car any good distance, it probably would take 2 hours to de-ice the car.

  • holy shit, thats intense...

  • i remember that storm

  • I remember that storm, sure was brutal.

  • Wow, there was actually another person in Austin that knocked the ice off their car! I did that, drove to work when the roads were melting and nearly got hit by a huge sheet of ice off the top of an SUV and plenty more falling off cars everywhere. Idiots. I grew up here and at least have enough common sense to know all that ice could damage other vehicles as it comes off.

  • haha, I remember this. SNOW DAY

  • wow it was like if you were breaking the car with your fist lol

  • No shit I know I live in Austin too. I was just saying that if you hit it hard enough it could break the window. ^_^ And it's called commonsense you can live any where in the world and you should know not to hit the damn window that hard.

  • Hope he knows he can break his window like that if his not careful. I know I seen some do that.

  • It's Austin TX. No. We do not know things like that about ice. What I know about ice can be summed up in three words -- it should melt.

Ice that does not melt sucks!

  • i was hoping your backwindow would of shatter they way u hit it

  • I liked the one back in 2005 I think that was the year.

Well anyways I liked that one better because there was actually snow like 3 inches thick.

  • yeah it was o5 i remember it snowed really good on feb.14

  • That was nothin'. It took us hours to get our car out, with our neihboor's help. It is nuts living in Austin with the drastic weather changes but I've lived here my whole life and I would be bored with a dull climate.

Another great thing about Austin is that me and my friends get to go swiming in barton springs.

  • i totally remember that!!! me and my friend jumped on her trampoline and it had ice allll on top of it. her neighbors left the sprinklers on so in the morning there whole front yard was COVERED in ice!! :D good times

  • I remember that day it was crazy how much ice we got!

  • At least you could break it off. It is like hitting concrete up here sometimes.

  • HAHA this is awesome. I remember that...It was great, St. Ed's didn't have school for nearly a week!

  • lmfao thats crazy freakin you would never see that in mid cali

  • it happens prolly once a year...snows in Dallas. Ice storms in Houston too

  • houston rarely gets them though its too close to the ocean

  • it happens prolly once a year...snows in Dallas. Ice storms in Houston too

  • I remember that, right after Marilyn Manson played; Anti-Christ Superstar Tour! He made Austin freeze.

  • I live in Austin, and I'm GLAD it didn't ice over this year.

  • I suppose punching is more satisfying than simply using a scraper.

  • Austin fokes don't own scrapers generaly.....

  • You Texans had just a little coating it seems. Up north, the ice isn't so easy to break off of cars. But I guess thats good.

Hey, this posted video is one year old! Happy anniversary!

  • that looks like so much fun!

  • we had a ice storm 2 weeks ago here in illinois and the storm left almost 1 million people without power; some for a week and 2 inches of ice and a foot of snow in kansas. galesburg il got a inch of ice and about 3 inches of snow. it was bad!!!

  • i live in IL and thats what we're gonna get smacked by in about 3 hours from now :(

  • cool

  • Love the movie... global warming does not exist, its definitely proven now :)

  • It looks like in back in 96

  • oh thats the ice, i thought you broke that window lol

  • After I was done, I thought I might have broken my hand.

  • I did too!

  • lol same here at 1st. Im suprised Texas gets that - i thought it had sun and hot

  • We get a little of everything...from one day to the next. The weather is very hot and cold...day to day. :D

  • Nice song, but here in Minnesota, we call that ICE not SNOW ;)

  • who says it doesn't get cold in TEXAS? LMAO

  • I was in Chicago at the time, where it was in the high 30's, laughing at my friends at home, because I was warmer than they were. Course, when it was snowing in April ...

  • I was in San Antonio during this. I had to drive to the store for food, and I ended up scratching up one of my doors trying to break the ice off with a rock. Turns out I just forgot to unlock it! :(

  • hahaha, you gotta have good memories every time you look at the door though.

  • haha so cool! breaking the ice is fun..

  • Garages are nice O_O

  • I live in NYC, here we get blizzards and icestorms

  • Well we live down south and I was freezing my butt off because I don't own anything thicker than cotton jeans.

  • See people don't seem to understand that any kind of ice or snow is rare. Until December, rolls by we are used to very high degree weather and the last time we had a snow day it was like 3 or 4 years ago. Well from what I remember.

  • meh i missed school for 2 days : /, happens more often then that though

  • That kind of stuff only happens every hundred years usually. But this was surreal!! We didn't have to go to school for three and a half days!! We had a kind of ice rink thing on this bridge right by my house!! It was the most fun I have ever had!!

  • That was on the TV here in The Netherlands.

  • I loved breaking the ice from that storm off of my parents and uncles car. It was a great snowday!!!

  • You seem so eager to go to work!!STop IT!!! we get Ice every once in a while!!! aUSTIN ftW!!!!!!!!!

  • Damn! that was a huge chunk of ice! I wonder what happens when U open the door without loseing up the ice>

  • Man yall know we aren't used that ice and shit. We're used to that 100 degree weather. We can't deal with that ice. I remember the whole city shut down those couple of days. Glad that shit only happens every now and then.

  • i love the ice i hope some day live there , some one can change? lol

  • Great view of what Austinites were doing for like 2 days...

  • kept the gt stang in my garage!!!no Ice on my car but you better believe people pitched a fit if they were obligated to go to work on those days. sold cars and people really went to work on one of those days!!

  • Wow it seems funny, and pretty cool!

  • God Bless that day. They had to close the Probation Offices and cancel all the visits round here. whew.

  • people need to upload more clips like this. I prefer funnier stuff myself, check out dolphinhump. lostfrog . com , I laughed so hard I got kicked out of class! haha.

  • in Northern Jersey, we just had plain ole snow January 2007.

  • XD I did that for hours. It was the only fun part about the freeze.

  • Im from Austin and i now live in north idaho... i got to tell you folk this video is not that big a deal compared to livin up here... but pretty amazing for austin...

  • Diggity dave, lets see you handle 110 degree heat with 100% humity!

  • The ice storm we got in chicago that same week was a lot worse, i couldnt even knock the ice off my car, i had to let it thaw.

  • First time ever that I see ice coming off so easily.. it's almost like some kind of childrens' tv show. cute ^^

I have always had to scrape :d

  • for texas this is interesting for people north of the border just another day in the winter

  • BIG DUMB TEXANS AMAZED BY A LITTLE ICE

  • Actually this guy was from Wisconsin....

  • WOW! This is the first time in my life, that i saw so many ice on a car! It's looks like a cocoon outside of the car!

  • welcome to the other side... :)

  • theres a place in norway i think that gets a foot of ice in one storm, its crazy

  • that's what happens when you don't have a garage. you probably got in and drove like a dumbship on the icy roads after that didn't you?

  • holy crap!!!

  • In Nova Scotia we call it freezing rain, and it happens at least 5-10 times per year

  • yep, a typical day of freezing rain in NS.

  • That is awesome. I love breaking that kind of ice cause it's like glass. It's like bubble wrap for me. Never get to see it much, being in Florida.

  • Late for work ey?

  • OMG AMAZING ^^

  • LOL!!! Cool!

  • dallas was worse than that this year

  • We used to get that all the time in NJ but thanks to Global warming and a few North Korean missile tests Texas get the winters now and NJ is nice and warm.

  • I left Iowa for a reason too, but moved to Las Vegas where it's highly unlikely that I'll ever see ice like that

  • thats fuckin crazy

  • I was there in Austin when that happend, had fun breaking ice off stuff :D

  • lol it looks like your car was just born from an Ice Egg shell

  • get over it haha

  • try upstate new york man thats our spring time

  • move to alaska. then you'll see why a video of some ice is not so fucking amazing.

  • ive experienced a lot worse than that in chicago in winter of 93-94. ice so hardened that it breaks scrapers...dont live in the north if you can help it...it sucks the life out of you!!!

  • Sorry I live In Massachusetts where ice is a norm ..Its nice to see the rest of the country is getting a taste of what We go through every winter...enjoy :)

  • Typical Austin winter, except his ice is coming off easier than I remember it coming off my car :) I moved back to Michigan after 6 years of that ice crap, and the humid cold that chilled right to the bones. Give me honest snow! p.s. I live in Buffalo now, lol

  • i love knock ice off the cars its fun i knock it off with my hands, feet and a snow scraper <3 <: 3

  • Ahh fuck you man >:( It needs to ice in dallas =) Have fun with the ice =(

  • CALIFORNIA here I come. I live in so-cal and I am really loving the weather here..nice and sunny. I feel for ya man.

  • I wish I could do that, looks great fun :D imagine it, that was a perfectly crafted ice sculpture of your car.

  • It was kinda fun knocking all that ice loose, but, after it was all done my hand was killing me.

  • Lol That's the pain in snow. I like throwing snow balls bare handed, problem is your hands absolutely wreck after.

  • That ice is weaker than it looks. I mean, it's not even stuck on the glass. Fortunately. Sometimes I've had that kind of ice on my car so stuck I couldn't scrape it off with a knife.

  • To me, knocking

    that ice off looks fun!

  • intresting! How is that possible? Have you continous sprayed your car with water and let it freeze?

  • this is a true thing that happens! its not a chain letter! its kinda scary at first but it really works!! paste this message into 3 comments and press ALT F4 and your crushes name will appear on the screen!!! its soo weird!

  • Hey you got our weather.. Give it back! lol

  • holy shit

  • that was cool

  • yeah it was just last month, 3 unbelievable days

  • In IL I had two inch thick ice on my windows, I couldn't even pick at it with a scraper. I ended up parking it in a garage with a space heater for 8 hours.

  • I now that because i'm living at montreal quebec!!!!

  • MO (okay, lets be truthful, the whole midwest) has been hit hard this year. but hey! no school for a few extra days never hurt anything but vacation plans. :)

and here in MO the weather changes so sporadically that we'll have a deep freeze and a day later it will all melt and go up to a balmy 40Degrees F.

anyway cool video; nice choice of song. (although I didn't see any snow!)

  • i wouldve laughed if he broke the window with the ice :D lol :P

  • I've never seen that before, here in the UK we dont really get enough rain etc to fall and freeze when its real cold. It's usually just really cold but dry.

  • Ha! dude you are so lucky that it is so warm and you can break it off that easy! When it happens here in minnesota and the temperature drops below zero, if you try to bang on the window ice - you will either have no effect or you will break your f**n window! damn! that will make you late for work!

  • Thought we had bad weather in Norway, but...

  • Wow,just had a bit of snow (few centimetres) in the uk a couple of weeks ago and the country ground to a halt. Even though the USA has a megalomaniac loony running country, good to see people going out in proper harsh weather.

  • haha that was funny. thats how it is usally in MASS during the winter but not this year. damn global warming now i cant break ice on my car like texas can

  • Lol, i have to laugh, i live 60 miles from the canadian border in Minnesota and that happens to us here a couple of times every year. however it stays and doesn't melt here

  • Hey, I wish I took a video of cleaning my car on the 17th. The ice was a lot thicker in Georgetown. You can't just bang on the car to get the ice to break. I had a cool trick for the window - you get in the car door to open and roll down the window. The ice will still be intact. Then you break the ice from inside of the car.

  • Nice soundtrack. :P I live in New Zealand. The coldest it gets in my neck of the woods is about 10 degrees celsius, and we still walk around in tshirts.

  • looked like you broke the windows

  • thats what I thought when he first hit the window

  • yeah try Buffalo for a winter.... blackouts snow storms and ice storms, we get it all.

  • try living in Montana for a winter. . .

  • I lived in Wisconsin for 28 years, I left because of stuff like this...I never thought i'd see it in central Texas.

  • geez dude. I live in Austin. The ice storm was a joke. Why did you think this merited a video?

  • boring ...the snooze factor on this one is at least 8.9 i did not watch it to the end ...boring! show someone bustin' their ass on the ice so we can laugh

  • If it stays cold & the lakes freeze over, you can try Ice Fishing like we do up here in the Great White North. You drill a hole through the ice on a lake & fish through it. Be carefull though, as one Neubies wife nearly drown when she tried to cook the 500 Lbs of ice the dude brought home from his first "Ice Fishing" trip!! LOL

  • 76ryan....fuck you

  • great song

  • DUDE!!-If that ever happens again, dont hit the window like that- I know a guy whose window was frozen like that and he hit the window it was so cold that the window shattered!!!

  • If the ice is coming off that easy... it's not that cold.

  • I thought ice storms were concentrated in Canada....me is wrong!

  • After I finished beating up my car I thought I might have broken a bone or two in my hand...nice!!!

  • I hate Texans sooooo much. You guys are why the rest of the world hates our country.

  • You are an incompetent idiot 76ryan. You know what? You're right, it's because of Texans, not because of the people all around the country that voted for George W. Bush, that the rest of the world hates us. Why don't you come down to Texas and say something like that instead of being a pussy on the internet.

  • whaha

    thats cool

    cheers the german kid

  • I thought it was hilarious that my school closed for 3 days, just because of some ice. Texas is a strange state.

  • Ha.. thats nothing. 3 days in a row here in ny i had 1/2" - 3/4" each day. Pounding did nothing!

  • I had to do the same thing to my car when that happened. oh yeah, Texas is awesome..

  • the world is getting its revenge on cars lol :P

  • Im moving to Austin this month. anything good about it?

    im moving to Phflugervil

  • Pflugerville has the biggest movie theater in the county...ENJOY!!!

  • It would have been funnier if you would have broken the glass by accident.:)

  • cool I could do with a girl in bed with me. Will she f**k me aswell

  • man I live in Bastrop, that ice sucked, it stayed wet for weeks!

  • Texas is for fucking queers!!!

  • I wish the ice would come off from our vehicles as easily as this video. Here in Canada it would take an hour to get that off.

  • I wanted to see the car start!!!!

  • It started right up...'cuz it didn't get all that cold, only into the 20's for a week or so.

  • I'm from Houston, my car was left outside like yours, there was ice cicles on my side mirrors. That's about all she wrote. Still never seen snow, seeing as how i've lived down here my whole life

  • I'm in Austin, too, and saw the same thing. However, watching a video of it is like watching grass grow. Ho hum. I kept waiting for you to break the windshield.

  • We got maybe a tenth of an inch one night in Houston, and yet the city was basically shut down for the day. In the morning, when there was still ice on the roads, there were an amazing amount of accidents because people either didn't know or didn't care about the ice - they were still going over the speed limit!

  • haha welcome to Maine weather!!! :D thats nothing. we had an entire ice storm in '97. i'd wake up every morning to a minimum of 1inch of ice on the vehicles. in a week, we had 8 inches of ice on the driveway. the trees were so heavy, they bent over and touched the ground. they looked like arches.

  • the first 4 wheel ice cube ive ever seen xD

  • mi valoración es PUTA MIERDA

  • But the beautiful thing about Texas weather is that (1) that doesn't happen often and (2) when it passes, it is back up in the 60s/70s the next day. Ahhh Texas =) HOOK 'EM!!!

  • I thought Luke was kidding when he said the cars were covered in ice. Wow. I like how many views this video has.

  • Bro I feel your pain, we left several of our cars outside that night. The next morning, we got a huge surprise. It was a fun week though. Get ready for this weekend. It's gonna be COLD!!

  • I live in Austin and Im from Chicago and I almost fell out my chair laughing when i saw how terrified people were to drive and acted as if they never seen ice or snow, but I then i remembered i wasnt in Chicago anymore.

  • In Minnesota we see that every year.. except this year so far.I think we had record highs at that time. (low 30s) We actually had a brown Christmas!
