I was at this game and I've got to tell you, when he got kicked out the place erupted as loud as it did for any home run. Yankee fans were screaming for the ump to throw him out, just to see a manager actually stick up for his players for once after 12 years of Torre. Great moment. I think he endeared himself in a big way that night.

Girardi knew he was getting tossed from this game. There's really nothing the ump can do. Even if he tossed him when he stepped out of the dugout, Girardi was going to get his argument in. So I think both Girardi and the ump handled it as well as can be expected.

That was a great moment and I remember what a horseshit call that was. The ump had the balls to claim that Giambi foul tipped the ball into the catcher's glove off the knob of the bat. Replay after replay showed otherwise and if it did tip of the knob, you would think you would've been able to hear it.
