  • wow your really pretty girl....

  • le re doy de 1 me la re cojo

  • dont mind the haters girl..you see

    haters makes you famous!

    XD

  • H-O-T

  • If you're talking about Penny Arcade.. it's an Xbox Arcade game yuou have to download through the marketplace.. they have it for PC too.. but I'm not sure if you can buy it in stores or anything..

  • You're stupid....Penny Arcade is an event...PAX....Penny Arcade Adventures is a XBLA game.

  • It was directed towards "theholyviper"

  • Um what. Penny Arcade is a web comic with Gabe(Mike) and Tycho(Jerry). They made the penny arcade expo(PAX). They also have a foundation called child's play. The game is for the comp, Xbox and Ps3. And the game is Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness

  • is that game only available as a download or also in stores?

  • D: awh, that sux

  • nice mouse

  • nice hair

  • wow someones REALLY good lookn lol

  • How much editing do you need its still so bad

  • on the rain slick precipice of darkness is also available on Xbox 360. but it is a bit overpriced at 1600 microsoft points.

BTW i love the fruit fuckers

  • my hot videos get removed and hers don't?

  • Wow shes hot :D

  • wow!ur pretty!!

  • I been there today... Im trying with easy recovery...

  • I use Gmail notifier. It isn't a firefox addon it is a separate program, really small, that beeps whenever you get a new email then takes you straight to your inbox with one click if you let it remember your password.

  • Firefox 3 is ok-ish, but I'm not a huge fan. And one of my favorite extensions is not compatible with ffx3 and the author refuses to make a new version. Plus there's a few annoying things that other people might like, but I don't. Fortunately, you can turn pretty much all of them off.

As far as the whole backup thing goes, RAID1 (if you have two drives) or RAID5 ftw. Doesn't really help if something deletes the files though. Paranoia is the best defense, lol.

  • All us nerds and geeks should know, instinctively, to back up important files.

Naturally, who are the people least likely to remember to back up?

I feel your pain. I used to have an ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon video card, and I made a few dozen music videos on it back in the mists of pre-history (ie pre-YouTube). Woke up one day and figured I should REALLY back up all those files, just in case of a hard drive crash.

I figured that out one day too late. :*-(

  • Hey! Wanna get married?!!?

    Jared

  • hey i suggest useing many cam in some of your videos to show what your doing or trying to explain

  • I read in one of your comments that you are going to Toronto, if you need cron while you're here you should PM me. I started smoking weed very early on in my life, at the age of 10 and I have yet to regret it. It is also an essential ingredient to being a nerd in my opinion as it brings me back to the good ol' days in WoW. Before battlegrounds were ever made world pvp dominated Warcraft, I would get stoned and just go to x-roads with raid groups on raid groups of other players. It pooned.

  • i could watch you all day.

  • omg im deleting onyx right now ha

    Awesome video cally!

i can see myself getting addicted to these techposts!

  • no screenshot of your character?

  • Calli if you need a place to stay let me know. You are more than welcome to stay here. Otherwise a night of drinks are on me!

  • if i were trying to be hotforwords i would be wearing less clothes.

  • Did you try doing a System Restore (and restore it back to an earlier date, before you used Onyx)? Or is that only available on PCs?

  • Just discovered this channel. Bad news about the lost files, but good that you are making songs in GarageBand. Any plans for a solo project to go alongside Beasts & Superbeasts? The 'Carol of the Bells' and 'Way I Am' overdubs are some of the best harmony singing on YT.

  • hi callie! make a video on your channel yes? thank you, the end. ;) teehee

  • btw, i'm totally gonna get that gmail addon. i've got like 6 and it drives me crazy when i need to jump from one to the other. thanks!

  • Too strict and too many rulz boss lady, don't rush things. :)

  • I keep getting a Page Load Error.Someone help me, please.

  • SteviEJeebiE, a page load error for what, exactly?

  • thanks for talking about the cooliris add-on, i hadn't heard of that one and i'm gonna try it, it sounds very useful!

  • I'm not familiar with MACs but you could try a 'system restore' maybe, to get back your Garage Band files.

  • I started playing the Penny Arcade game the same day ytu posted this. I think that I have had about 8 hours sleep total since! I am too old to be a geek. Are you heading out to Toronto this summer?

  • i am SO going to toronto!

    :D

  • Oh, bugger. I've been meaning to upgrade to FF3. Thanks for the reminder.

    Thanks again, theslyfox.

  • you are so a geek ^^

  • You guys who use Firefox 3 should use Interclue if you are having issues with CoolIris...all the same features and has worked great for me so far

  • You should try VMWARE or MS Virtual PC next time. I prefer MS Virtual PC because one of the feature it has is a confirmation of whether you would like to commit and save changes when you exit the software. This will allow you to rollback to the state before all your files got removed or commit the changes that you made for that session. As of now, all we can do is hope that your data recovery software can retrieve as much of your work as possible.

  • your no nerd >=P

  • hey sorry about this, but i have a macbook, and i tried adding on the gmail manager thing, and it says that no application can open the downloaded file. Am I missing something?

  • I got it to work, I love the gmail add on, thanks for telling me about this :)

  • i backed up my laptop!!! =]

  • This is a great idea for a channel. :) People who say girls can't be geeky are rather dim. lol.

  • wordpress uses something like cool iris..

  • your really clever, i think your the best out of 'nerds' on the hot for nerds channel.

  • YOU ARE AWESOME!!!!!!!! :)

  • why thank you!!!

  • Google "Microsoft Cleanup" or something. That's a cool "get rid of stuff you don't need" program.

  • well thanks for the suggestion but i use a mac, so it probably doesn't work on my system!

  • Oh, sorry about that. :(

  • You're cute! :)

  • You have to do it chop *clap* chop *clap* chop, or you're gonna die.

  • Am i the only one that has problems with firefox3.

  • it's very 'aggresive' in it's protection

against unwanted scripts and other bad

things...it can be a little wonky until

you get all the settings correct...

  • are you a virgin??

    wanna do 'it' w/ me?

  • why on earth would i want to have sex with you? especially considering i have no idea who the hell you are? plus, boys who proposition girls on the internet aren't my type.

  • lol nice

  • Your excitement for new software reminds me of Steve martin in the movie "The Jerk" in a good way. "THE NEW PHONE BOOKS HERE, THE NEW PHONE BOOKS HERE!"lol

  • You're not a nerd just talented.

  • ...did you try the PicLens add-on?...

i don't know how useful it is but it's

    really cool....

  • ...i'm revising my opinion...PicLens is

the most awesome add-on...i always thought

cooliris was excellent, but PicLens blows

them all away...the Discover feature is

    addictive....

  • maybe i'll give it a try!

  • Garage band thing sounds horrible especially for someone who's actually a musician; ouch! Live and learn I guess great advice though :)

  • thanx!:)

  • A true geek would be uploading high quality videos. This video is not up to my geek standards. Failed.

  • you know, i followed the instructions for saving this video in high quality! i did! i made it 640x480 and mpg, like i was told to in order for it to be high quality, but when i uploaded it it doesn't have that little "watch in high quality" link, and i cannot figure out why! any suggestions?

  • Did you make sure the bitrate was at 600k or higher, by chance? Also, what was the file-type of the video when you uploaded it? If I know that, I assume the problem can be diagnosed, and all that.

  • yep, a high bitrate (600kbs to 900kbs) at 30 fps is necessary for high quality.

  • I'm sorry Epoch, I'm not sure what the deal is, but the reply feature seems to be misplacing these comments. My comment was meant to be in response to SlyestFox, asking about possible reasons her video doesn't have a high quality option.

  • i save my vids in 640x480 with 25 fps as mpg too. its prob the bit rate since a 9 min vid for me would come out as 180+ MB

  • 640x480 is a waste of time and space. You can get that high quality button to show up using 480x360 too. Bitrate is the most important factor.

  • ahh, well i'll keep all of this in mind the next time i'm trying to save a video and see if i can make it upload in high quality next time! :D thanks to all of you for helping me figure it out....i tried though! :D

  • O my god thats funny! (^o^)

  • OO really liking the shiny pop-ups. Is that shallow?

  • Thanks

  • what was the game called on the firefox again i didnt quite catch it

  • a game on firefox? the game i talked about is the Penny Arcade game, and i put links to everything i talked about int he video in the video description....i guess i'm not sure how to answer your question cause i'm not sure what you're asking!

  • its ok no need to apologize

  • Whoo totally getting firefox 3! I am also going to check out the new Penny Arcade game <3!

  • yay! it's really funny! you'll totally like it!

  • downloading the new firefox now. thanks babe.

  • anytime hotstuff.

  • ooh i cant get enough of hotfornerds!! *nerdiness-pleasure-overload*

  • i don't love god? can i still back my computer up?

  • Well gotta say im definately gonna check out firefox 3 and the penny arcade i did see a bit of it on xbox live and as far as back up been there done that unfortunately i have lost some really important documents so i tend to back up all my files

  • ooo yeah, i find the penny arcade game is easier to play on the xbox cause you can press the buttons faster than you can scroll around and click with your mouse during fights! and you NEED to be fast, or you die a lot, like i do.

  • i don't know if it will work on a mac or at all but can you do a system restore?

  • we tried to recover the files but most of them were corrupt, so no luck there D:

  • not that faster

  • Meh, FF3 has a toolbar scheme a bit too much like IE7 for my liking, but the enhanced speed (and the fact that it doesn't seem to crash my compy like FF2 did) more than makes up for it.

BTW, question for any hotfornerd girl (or fellow commenter) who has a PS2 and RPGMaker3: Do you need the HDD to make RPGs on it, or can you save to a memory card?

  • apparently the save files take up a lot of memory card space and it's recommended that you get a hard drive accessory for the PS2.

  • Thank you for the information.

  • MACS! amazing

  • I just started using the new Firefox. I can't really tell the difference yet. Hopefully some of the themes I like for it will get updated.

  • yeah, i really want them to update cooliris cause i use it constantly, but it's been a bit buggy since the upgrade.

  • This sounds like a really weird thing to say but I like it when you say Hard, it's really cute.

I dislike downloading things from the Internet that say they will clean up your computer, I just use McAfee to do it.

    P.s. you're cute x10

  • hahahahaha that's pretty hilarious, actually. i guess i say harddrive a lot in this video...

  • um back up yer system. :P

  • you obviously didn't watch this till the very end, or you would see that i tell people to back up their systems so they don't end up like me!

  • I love how you use rad all the time

  • well i've tried to say it less, after that one video i made where i said it a BILLION times. but thanks! i'm glad someone likes it and doesn't think it's annoying!

  • ..∧,,∧

    .(o゚ω゚o)

  • omg, thank you for that gmail manager. It's the niftiest thing ever. I've lost all my shit on my old computer a month back, it really really killed me inside. I still haven't bought a external hard drive, but I'm planning to get one.

  • hay no problem! it's so handy when you have multiple accounts!

external drives are really cheap now, don't even THINK about paying too much! some places will try to charge a ton, and it's cheaper to buy a drive and an external closure and get them to put the harddrive into the enclosure. much cheaper than buying the external drives that come in the external box already.i got my 300g harddrive for like $80 CDN, so don't let them rip you off. research prices online before you buy!

  • Firefox 3! appropriate topic.

You girls will need one of those easy to use screen-recording programs.

  • i actually DO have one of those, but i made this video really fast so that i could post it on time...i didn't have time to make it before friday itself, so i thought that taking the time to film my screen and then editing that footage into the video with my voice talking over it would take more time and then the video wouldn't have been up on friday when it's supposed to!

  • Miss Calli. I am curious to know what your screen-recording program of choice is. There are a few occasions now and then when I have need for one.

As for your files... my sympathies. But only by such painful experience will you gain that mysterious technologist's intuition that seems supernatural to non-technological life forms, causing them to pay you luxurious amounts of money in consulting fees.

  • I love lisning to you blog, i was wondering, why do you make youtube videos? just wondering what you r take on it was.

  • well! i make youtube videos because i LOVE talking to people and getting to know people and making videos and watching other people's videos is a really great way to do that. most of all, though i LOVE the comments, and i always enjoy getting and responding to them more than anything else about making the videos! the feedback/discussion is the best part!

  • on my thing I can click on the mouse with the scroll thing and it opens the link in a new window but that is cool... and that sounds like an awesome game... and that sucks alot... lol

  • yeah, i have mine so that it opens new tabs, but since i already usually have like 30 tabs open on different websites it's handy to be able to just quickly look at a link and not open ANOTHER tab! :D plus it does this thing where if you do a google image search when you mouse over the image a tiny window pops up with a larger version of the image and then you just mouse over all the other images and they replace the one in the window so you can see them big, no clicking needed!

  • that is awesome... even though I had no reason to do so I went right away and downloaded the new firefox right after I saw the video lol so no need to convince me :P anyway thanx for the tips :]

  • hey no problem! i hope you like it!

  • oh and about the xbox... I just found out my older brother bought a book labled "How To Hack The Xbox" cause he is a super nerd and it is literally 600 pages of crap I will never be able to find out lmao

  • Yeah, I downloaded that CoolIris thing you talked about. C'est awesome.

    I heart Firefox.

Did you download it on the download day? 14 million downloads it I think.

  • yeah i did! i love firefox so much, i was really excited when 3 was finally out of beta. i'm glad tha people are coming to their senses! i always feel shocked when i see people still use Internet Explorer, cause it's so horrible! every person i know who does web design hates it because it views websites differently than all the other browsers and screws up their code.

  • Yup, FF makes everything look crisp and clean. And it checks my spelling too. :P

  • i KNOW i really think everyone who comments on youtube (or, anywhere on the internet, actually) could benefit from the automatic spell checker, seriously.

  • Grrr. YT ate my last comment. Anyway, my AMD Gateway computer died, it used the BTX form factor which was at that time the next greatest thing but was abandoned so no parts. I was able to recover my data using a SATA/IDE to USB adapter from Vantec which I highly recommend for use in backing up huge amounts of data on to externally archiveable hard drives drives (which you should store in its original anti-static bag). Keep the most precious files on Jump drives in a separate location. TC.

  • thanks! i'll keep that in mind when i try to recover stuff off my xbox!

  • Sweet. I already have the Firefox 3. And I shall definitely go and download that Addon. :D

    Suckz about your Xbox

  • Cool, but I'm sticking with Internet Explorer *shoves head in the air like a snob* LOL.

    "CHOP, CHOP, CHOP!" LOOOOOL.

HAHA!! about your XBox lol, I'm so mean.

HAHAHAHAAHA ABOUT YOUR FILES LOOOOOOOL! gosh, I am way too mean but I have always laughed at things like that. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!

Please don't rate my comment low pleaase lol.

    Great vid, thanks. Have a S U P R E M E day

  • really? pretty much any browser is better than internet explorer. every person i know who does web design hates it because it screws up their code and they have to recode specifically for IE users because it doesn't run as well as all the other ones... but suit yourself!

  • My sisters laptop was stolen just yesterday, and she now is very thankful that I made her a script that updates a backup on her external hard drive every time she boots her PC with the hard drive connected.

And have you ever tried Opera as a browser? I'm very fond of the new 9.5 release. Opera is like the 4th browser that's not just an already existing engine with a new look (like Netscape 9==Firefox 2 + skin)

  • i do have opera but i haven't updated it yet...i did really like that when you mouse over a tab it shows you a tiny picture of what's on that tab! i shall update it and see!

  • stliestfox love firefox~ well, that's very interesting, and both of you are nice

  • wow, you know how to recover data form a drive with a corrupted File Allocation Table?? you're my kinda girl :)

  • well theoretically speaking i do....but we'll see if it works in practice! i'll let you guys know. :D if you have any tips for me, PLEASE share, cause i've never done it before!

  • i still like safari better.

it has the gmail thing too soo...

    n_________n

but the new firefox is definitely 100x better than explorer & netscape.

  • it's true that safari is faster loading pages on a "cold" load, which means a website it's never been to before, but firefox is faster on a "warm" (hot?) load, which is pages it's already been to, and which you probably use the most.

  • Yo get prodiscover demo its a phrensic tool for recoving data eh. just dont save more stuff or it will replace

  • Ouch lol meh just take it in your stride i loose artwork all the time you just have to convince your self that it was a dud or a build up to some thing cooler :)

    moar work

  • yeah, or get an external drive and backup all the time!!

  • backups are a waste of space on a primary hdd and any dvd imho. Instead, get an external hdd or a secondary one, use it for all your important stuff. Keep only programs and the OS on the primary. Its happened to me a few times, started doing it that way 15 years ago and have not regreted it since

  • yeah, i actually have a TON of external drives i just still haven't backed up my machine, which is STUPID and i really should. anyway, when i told people to backup their harddrives, i meant do it on an external drive, but i guess i never actually SAID that in the video. cause if you back it up on your computer, and the computer dies, then the backup dies too, and that's kind of pointless!

  • But,watch out the virus, don''t backup virus into your extensive drive. you can backup your system by "ghost" or other software, whatever. firefox is a good browser and better than IE5,but the new version of IE7 seems great, i recommend you install both of them. ie7 is more fit for the windows vista.anyway, ...yeah, we have alternative choice.

  • i don't mean this in a mean way but i would never use internet explorer ever again...i've mentioned in other comments how every web designer i know HATES it because it screws up their coding that will look beautiful in every other browser...

and also, since i have a mac i don't really get viruses...but thanks for the recommendations anyway! :D

  • Hi fox, I've been in the same boat before and I've used getdataback by runtime to recover my data. I know there are better programs and lifehacker suggests other (free alternatives), but it's been a great help to me. I'm a developer and I wholeheartedly agree. Firefox roxxx. m

  • look in to hot swapping that xbox, its easy. You can also partition the drive, move files & etc without having the hdd in the xbox.

  • no i can't move files without moving the harddrive in the xbox, because it doesn't think there are files in there anymore. i usually use an FTP program to put stuff on the xbox, and it, too, thinks there is nothing on the harddrive anymore! so i'll probably have to take the drive out to recover the files, but can put it back in to re-partition it etc!

however...i shall look into what you talked about anyway cause i don't know that much about it!

  • oh wow add-ons, opera has had that for ages.

I would recomend opera to everyone (Its also the fastest browser and has "speed dial" which is awsome)

  • well firefox has had add-ons for ages, too. that's not new with this version, i just think that not many people knew about it so i mentioned them.

  • also i use a program called "CCleaner" to remove junk files it works well and you can choose what apps to scan for junk files as well as see what files it plans to remove before it removes them

  • well thanks, i'll check it out. don't EVER use onyx!

  • you might be able to recover your garage band files, when a file is deleted it is not immediately remover from the hard drive instead the space on your hard drive is made available to be written over. but you said that you had little space left on your hard drive so the space could have been written over already. if you google restore deleted files you should be able to find an application that can restore your files. one that i know of for macs is "Data Rescue II". good luck ;)

  • never mind i just read your response to

    AliceInWorthlesstown

  • awwe thanks anyway! yeah i had to cut that bit out of the video, but i did use data rescue II and it didn't help much, sadly!

  • i agree firefox 3 is grrreat!

    (opera 10 is better though)

loving the videos... although mememolly always seems to get more views!!

  • really? i do have opera, too, (and safari) but i use firefox the most...i think the fact that each person can fully customize it to their needs is what really appeals to me.

  • Firefox 3 FTW!

Sorry to hear about your X-Box and Garage Band files...

  • thanks! i appreciate the sympathy. it's been a rough week in terms of data loss.

  • when is molly going to post hers

  • molly is next week...the schedule for what order in which we post is on the channel info page, and it's always the same unless someone can't do their video one week and have to switch with someone, like caitlin and laura did.

  • OMG! Ty, firefox 3 and the add-ons are so kewl!!!

  • i'm glad you like them! the add-ons i mentioned are only two of the ones i use most, and there are so many more!

  • Ouch. That totally sucks about your Garage Band files and your X-Box.

    FireFox 3 is great!

  • uuuugh i KNOW it's SO horrible! and that both happened within a week! D: losing data is the worst.

  • love ur glasses had to say that

  • thanks!

  • It's nice listening to a girl I can relate to. =)

    -Blade Genexis

  • well thanks! it's nice having subscribers who i can relate to, and who leave me nice comments! :D

  • Cute Nerd ;)

  • Couldn't you do a system recover to get your Garage Band files back?

I really don't know for sure, I'm an idiot when it comes to this kind of stuff so forgive me if this is a dumb question.

  • no, i actually tried, and it didn't work out. i talked about that when i was making the video but the video was over 10 minutes long so i had to cut it out.... thanks for the suggestion though! the parts i managed to recover were mostly corrupt and unusable so i'll have to start from scratch! D:

  • Well darn tootin' you should apologize! :p Get well Kim. :)

How many procrastinators does it take to change a lightbulb?

Curious how Moded units fail more often eh! Just remember Callie, Jesus Saves!

  • ugh, i know. you would think that since we have 6 weeks between videos that we would make them ahead of time and not THE DAY OF, but we seem to be really bad for that! D:

aaand the only reason my modded xbox failed is cause the guy who part
