Hey everybody! I have released my new album 'Progenitor' which has electronic music inspired by great games such as the Castlevania series. You can check it out and download it for free on my youtube channel if you're interested!
@kingofqwerty: maybe because they focussed too much on the graphics of part V, I don't know. But I never found it very playable, same goes for "Richter mode" in Symphony of the Night"...
Is it bad that I like the PSP version of Divine Bloodlines simply because the key of the last part of the song before loop was changed to match the key of the rest of the soong?
An excellent port from Rhondo of Blood. While the music isn't as amazing as the CD version, it is still really good, once again demonstrating how powerful the SNES music engine is. The graphics are amazing.
Okay, well, I'm sold, then! FF6 is hard to compete with, especially for an action game...have you played most of the other Castlevanias? How would you say it competes with Aria and Dawn of Sorrow?
I haven't played Aria or DoS, but it's completely different from 1,2,3, and 4. It's an RPG, where you level up the main character, and there is an enemy list to fill up, each with 2 drops, one common, and one rare. There is a castle map, which fills up as you explore. And, once you finish the game, you can go back as Richter, and play it as traditional Castlevania. One of my absolute favorites!
It's not horrible by any stretch of the imagination, yes it's a down port, but for what it is on the SNES it's still a damn good game. Just ignore the pretentious asswhipes who think they're special for playing some Japanese import few people have ever played.
What's interesting is that I can hear lots of instruments in that intro song that I've heard in lots of other SNES games. It's really neat to try and figure out where you've heard them before.
too bad the option to listen those awesome musics has been gone ,so you,re forced to beat manny levels to listen to them,as it makes it more spawned, nor hard to do that, duo thosee terrific controls.
This had the better music of the two, hands down. Then again, that's just me *laughs* I could never really get behind the music from the Japanese version. Sound sounded...way too synth/off for me, sorry!
I won't even go into the game because there's just too much about it that didn't work too well.... Musically, I think it's an impressive "remix" of the PCEngine version and stands up fairly well on its own.
The intro theme, map screen, pre-boss fight music, rescue scenes and ending theme are all new. But the stage and boss themes are pretty much just "remixed" versions of the PC Engine original Rondo of Blood (now on PSP and hopefully Virtual Console soon).
Loved the guitar at the beginning of the opening level, & the remixes were amazing. I really like the alternate endings you could get as well, adding some extra replay value. Too bad it isn't the complete version as others had commented, but its still a decent game.

I'm not an American. And I've been playing games for almost 30 years; I was playing games when you were a sperm. I haven't actually played the Japaneses, but I have seen it played all the way through. Lemme tell you about this game: it was watered-down version, with clunky controls, no cut scenes, only one of the two characters was playable, the game was very linear and it gave no explanation of the plot. It could have been designed similar to CV3. The best thing bout this game, music
I played this through an SNES Emulator, this game does quite well standing for itself. One of the most classic Castlevanias I rather enjoyed. Great Music overall!
This was the SNES version of Dracula X: Rondo Of Blood, released in Japan for the PC Engine Super CD. The PC Engine game is far superior to this game due to the fact that a CD has more memory than a SNES cart, the music is much better on the PC Engine too.
I agree. Thing is, most people have never played that version, so I opted to go with the release that some would actually remember. I might do a video for the PCE game one day.
I prefer the SNES version, actually. Maybe it's just the chip tune lover in me. You have to admit though, this is really excellent sound quality for a SNES game.
@Rawrgazim I have to agree the Music on the Snes version is excellent I mean redbook audio is real music but this is generated in realtime with the Snes soundchip and sounds pretty close to the PC Engine tunes I think that's a quite a feat in itself.
@SNKTHX2000 not exactly, i have the PC version and the graphics arent as good on the palyer or background and the music is the about the same, this sound track being a bit 'funkier'. Technically you are right, but in real life, my case is true.
No Slash? .A.

No matter how cool the music was, I always liked Castlevania IV better. It was a better game.

But you've missed the "Stage Selection" Theme. In fact there is just an excerpt of this song in the end of the medley...

In my opinion, Music wise, Aria wasn't so hot.
But in terms of gameplay and graphics.. Whew.. Aria was pretty damn awesome. The story was okay.. an interesting twist
SoulCalibrator 2 years ago
The thing that gets me about this one is just how reused so much of the soundtrack was from previous games.
And I can't say they improved on the tracks over the NES versions.

I wonder why people say this game is so horrible. It looks pretty epic.
MasterBelmont 2 years ago 5
The game was good but it didn't compare to Rondo of blood.
ElementalBlazer 2 years ago 10
It's a "remixed" version of Rondo of Blood. So most of the hate is from fans of the original. IMO it stands well on its own so go play it yourself.
