you are pretty good dude just keep practicing and maybe try covers over when you get better at them and sooner or later youll sound like fredrik himself
@mangoie Sure. No question shall be left unanswered, and btw: that is no offense at all, don't take it personal. ;)
I mean the parts of the song (e.g. from 0:12 on), where you flail at the cymbal like crazy. Of course, it is not too easy, but you could try to use a "wiping motion" when hitting the cymbal (maybe you've already heard of it?), that is what I was thinking of. Especially when you do use such an expensive cymbal as an meinl mb20 and crash it through a whole part of the song.
I've been drumming for 2 years now, and me and my drum teacher have a saying
some play drums, other hits drums
this goes not against your musical style or anything in that mind, but your drums are to be handled with care(and it makes it look much better AND the sounds becomes better)
GL gathering knowledge as you keep on playing:)
PS try to hit on top of the high-hat and not on it:)
@MetalPat90 Just because a well known drummer "treats" his cymbals in the same way does not imply that it is the correct way... he is sponsored and gets a new cymbal everytime he destroys one, so he does not care whether his technique is good or not.
@MetalPat90 Aah, you know the endorsement deal of Fredrik Andersson?
I think, not all of them deals are the same. Maybe, some less known drummers get the cymbals at factory price, but there are definitely enough drummers that are really well known and get the cymbals for free as a part of their contract. Of course do they have to make clinics in return, advertisements and so on, so the cymbal is not really costless, but you don't have to pay your own money for it!
@metaljuengerMB Actually Fredrik isn't a big Meinl promoter. He doesn't do clinics, doesn't have a website and there isn't very much content available on him. Meinl would probably only be giving FREE cymbals to their BIG promoters being Chris Adler, Derek Roddy, Benny Greb and Matt Halpern. People who are more involved in the drumming community than Fredrik is. You gotta think of it from a marketing standpoint.
it wasn't bad... it was pretty good, better than most stuff on youtube; i thought the audio was too low; i had my volume up all the way and could barely hear it.... but good job nonetheless

The drumming is not the worst, really, but how can you treat an mb20 crash like this... my eyes hurt from watching this!

@metaljuengerMB Can you specify what you mean with "treat a mb20 like this"?

@metaljuengerMB cymbals are meant to be hit hard, dont complain about him NOT hitting like a little bitch !

@metaljuengerMB Friedrik hits his cymbals in the same part, and i think he "treat" his main crashes in the same mode.

@metaljuengerMB I don't think that using the cybals in this way could damage them...they crashes just have to be hit to make them sound.
The fact that he is endorser is relative, because the sponsor don't give you the various item free, they sell you at factory price
