    Question: does adding resistance (e.g., hand and ankle weights, sleds, etc.) make you a "faster" runner? Anyone?

  • @bourquechris It can, but only if u sprint in them. u can do jogs from time to time, but focus on sprinting, and that will make u faster.

  • @kolesakz if u jog everyday that can make u slower. becuase it engages ur slow twitch muscles therefore allowing u to run longer distances but slower. if u want to be fast u want to do sprints at set distances regularly and do these excercises to engage ur fast twitch muscles allowing u to run faster but shorter distances.

  • cann we actually get alot faster?like an increase of 2 tenths of a second in a 40 yard dash? im sure you can improve a bit but i think in a game situation u would run naturally how you always run.

  • @GuyWithGun789 the key to doing these drills is to do them often enough that you're body automatically does these without you thinking. if you need to think about keeping good form, you're not doing these drills enough.

  • thank you so much, this is my last year of football and im awful at it.. the smallest kid on the team at 145lb and 5'10" and my 40 is 5.1.. i'm not fast i'm not the most coordinated i mess up on plays but this year i'm going to do my best. run a 4.7 and bench 225 :)

    If the drummer plays a faster beat, then the dude on the guitar has to play faster too! Otherwise it would be a mess.

    In the same way you have to keep arms and legs in the same rythm. If your arms moves faster it allows your legs to move faster too!

    You cannot just speed up the movements of your legs and let the arms go slow. It would definately be weird ;)

  • @DrPokiaka it's just the way it is - like when you walk you sway your arms and when you run your arms move too... i'm pretty sure it's a counterbalance mechanism because when you raise your left leg you raise your right arm and vice versa :) i hope this helps

  • @DrPokiaka That's because, while running or walking, your arms and legs are connected and help each other stay in balance. For example, when you move your right arm, your left leg can gain momentum easier and with more balance than when your arm is still... Try it out yourself, that will help you realize what I'm talking about :)

  • @DrPokiaka Yes, but your arms need to be at the best angle for you, because not everyone run with the same arm (elbow) position. For instance, I run with arms bent less than 90 degrees (sharp angle) because I like it that way and I'm more comfortable with it. Just try to position your arms naturally and you'll get better results.Another thing: you shouldn't keep your arms further away from your body as you can because that might cause bad balance while running, especially in a straight line :D

  • Never bring your heel to your butt. It causes a slow recovery action thus shortening your stride length.  The heel should be recovered high under your butt. Striking directly under the center mass.

  • You hit the mark when you talked about running relaxed. That was the most important thing for me to overcome with my sprinting, the fact that I tensed up rather than relaxed when I would run. Once I practiced and practiced and got a hold of my mind and emotions in a better way, I became A LOT faster....

  • @MrHaydenjh yes this will mainly with your technique, but you also have to do explosive workouts like powerclean, squats, explosive jumps like tuck jumps (using a weighted vest makes this more effective) the key thing though is training fast if you want to get fast, you must train fast

    2. 1.80/1.90m is the best height for sprinters 100m/200m

    3. its just move your leggs faster than your oppenent
