No need for GLUT includes. Just look for iPhone OpenGl include, stick it in and compile. There are some OpenGL related files in the distribution with MacOS platform (gles.h and alike). But a gl.h for iPhone will be needed. At least in build configuration I used.

iOS programming with OpenGL ES is very hard. I haven't got a clue how to render a 3D square. The depth buffer wont work.

Can you code iPhone apps without getting too deep into Cocoa or objective C? I'd rather use vanilla C++

For a simple demo like this he should be able to get 60fps or more easily.
(I've also written OpenGL apps in iPhone)
