Well intelligence is certainly not necessary to engage in sex; look at all the ugly people who have sex, the stupid slutty women, the men who will screw anything with a skirt, the BILLIONS of people in India, China, Africa, Latin America and other countries with a little or no education; they have like 6 kids each family (and sometimes have several families). So education not necessary to leave ones genes to the next generation.

You have only backed what has been said in this video: the fact that we enjoy sex means we will want to have sex and therefor have children, but we also are the only animals who can make ourselves NOT get pregnant from sex, by use of contraception. Not all human suse contraception , but the point is that they know what it is and make the decision not to use it, not that they don`t know what contraception is. And to understand how to hav esex but NOT have kids, DOES require intelligence.

I am an asian here in our country people r taught to reproduce and reproduce as what the bible said. Its not even allowed for to have an abortion even how much me wanted too. That is how bad religion is. even in our politics they intervine a lot and its very anoy'n. Religion makes good people do bad 4 the sake of gospel of the bible. We r an educated society just happen to have feard of churches coz they are so powerful so far..

I tend to look at also how we established our psychology and the evolution with that. I believe it goes hand and hand. Someone as you say seems not intelligent yet they engange in sex. Sex is a powerful drive based on the selfish gene theory which makes sense.

yes. I did read The Selfish Gene. I own two copies actually. A change in our psychology from an evolutionary standpoint, (or the field of evolutionary psychology) has many theories of its origin. If sex is a powerful drive and well all share this drive and if some are more intelligent than others, it suffices to say that intelligence required to procreate; there are arranged marriages, rapes, money, power etc. And, ironically, many men and women who have the most sex do NOT have children.

I'll even go so far as to say that the more educated one becomes, the less chances he/she has to have kids.

that little argument about contraceptive devices is quite silly. facts are just the opposite: those who are able/wlling to use such devices, on average, have better education, more resources, and/or having thought more so they actually are simply, ultimately, engaging in pursuits that ensure their genes, when they have them [& MOST do have offsrpring], have better chances, than the average, of perpetuation. no darwnian principle has been contradicted or violated.

I think you missed Dawkins' point. I believe he is saying that contraceptive devices enable humans to experience the pleasurable benefits of the reproduction process without the consequence of offspring. Why do we find sex pleasurable? It was a gene that was successful in the evolutionary process. If a species is inclined to have sex, it will make the species more prosperous and take over the previous ancestor. It's a basic Darwinian concept, which is the center of Dawkins' research.

so true, the children of intelligent individuals have a better chance of surviving because their parents knew not to have a ton of kids they couldn`t care for and not to have random sex with strangers, so they avoided passing STDs to the offspring. I think this is the part papasitoman missed.
