Mac's OS gets corrupted easily and often, I have re-installed 9 times OSX on a mac's and 16 times has the boot gotten corrupted making these macs not boot into the OS. When this happens its seriously a problem and you can loose everything. Many don't use Time Machine. When something like this happens in Windows, there are tools to fix it easily and bring the OS up to working back how it was. On Mac's, well thats a different story & trip to the nearest Apple store and visit the Dumb Bar!
It doesn't matter anymore, Windows Media Center works like a charm in W7. Macs are in general a good deal, but everyone really hates the smugness of Apple and his CEO.
Apples pretty new the computer business if u compare them to PC if they would've been working on it as much as Microsoft they would have been more successful and apple would have been biggest company in the computer business, imo:o

Microsoft started around 1975 even though they don't actually build computers but software for them. One reason Microsoft and Windows are so big is Bill made a good deal with IBM who had a lot of PC in the business market and they had to put is DOS on them. Smart move still DON'T think they have the best OS though :)

Apple on the other hand locked down it's OS mostly because they were having a hard time getting their OS to work on all hardware. So they locked it down so they would have less bugs, and less code to fix. Mac had viruses all the way up until OS9. Now OSX is based on ideas Apple took from mkLinux, BSD, and NextStep. Windows can't be fix with rewriting the whole OS.

my friend spent 4-5k building a game comp and installed windows 7. then he bought the biggest and most expensive imac he could find just to use as a screen.

Macs are great for show, run smoothly but very hard to truelly personnalize, you are limited to many default options...
Windows are great for Do-it-yourself-ers, being able to re-type files and over all program creation. sure it freezes up but its more personalizable (hardware and software)
There is no need to argue about PC vs Apple. I look at it this way; a PC is a Chevy or Ford and an Apple is a Rolls Royce, Jag, BMW. They will both get you where you need to go. One just might be easier or more fun to use than the other. I switched to Mac 2 years ago. I just bought my second iMac and couldn't be happier with it. I could not face going back to using Microsoft again.
For the consumers who need their computer for basic media functions(DVDs, Music, Photos, etc), it makes sense to get the cheapest option, which in all cases will be a PC.
Marketing the Mac to a price conscious consumer is inherently wrong =).

i have a mac laptop from i think 1998, not too sure. still works to this day, and ive had to invest about 50 bucks into it for an upgrade. in 2007 i got a pc, and then in 2008 i got another one. the first one broke, and the one i'm using now, i am not happy with it. its an asus with an amazing graphics chip, and a supposedly great processor. my mac still runs faster then this piece of junk. even my old desktop macs from 1994 work better then this, just need an upgrade, and they'll work fine.
again, this is disliked, but it's true. All it works with really is media player and Microsoft word, my pictures, and some old games, but it still works.
While I greatly respect the work Apple puts into their products, the price to feature ratio is just not right for me when compared to other lower cost computers.
in the time you go through one mac... a pc user goes through 2... I have a Oct 07 Macbook Pro with 6GB, 2.4 Ghz Core 2 Duo, 500GB HDD 16MB Cache 7200 RPM.. better quality = longer life.. usually a higher price tag will go with it.. the new 6 core intel chips will be on mac first this year among personal computers.. how many PCs you know are even up to date with Mac Pro (8 Core) that came out 2 years ago? not to mention.. no virus programs needed on mac.. just another expense to keep a pc working
You make a good point that Apple comoputers are more advanced in technology and are among the pioneers to bring multitouch (now on a handful of netbooks) backlit keyboard, etc. as far as viruses and spyware, no computer is immune to it but the way it is designed makes it harder to do so. As I am the apparent IT admin around my house, I there are about as many different Operating Systems as people so I have gotten to know past and present versions of Linux, Windows, and Macs and where they shine.
Mac has good software i can say, mac computers are small slim and have no noise, its good to have a slim computer that makes no noise its really good i have a desktop pc that can play games on 1980x1080 on high quality , my pc boots in 5seconds cause i have ssd but the NOISE IS A TORTURE OF MIND , i made it myself with good parts and it was very cheap!! , if you want to have the latest hitech computer with fast cpu... you must buy a PC if you have no problem with that you can get a mac.

Fyi there, are many other uses for a computers, other than games. i own both - a high-end desktop pc for games and movies (1.7 TB hdd storage) and macbook pro, for absolutely everything else! If you are so retarded, that there is no way you can get used to a different interface... then thats YOUR problem... go see a doctor

Probably the only reason Windows is alive is because of the gamers and unique programs.
A lot of developers are porting versions to Mac already, there are some great games for the Mac like Sims 3.
PCs are for gamers and people who are Anti-Apple.
Macs are for professional music/movie makers, casual home users, power users and media users or just love the interface.
Get a PC if you like it's massive gaming library, Get a Mac if you like it's media abilities and simplicity on the interface.

To me this is funny. I am personnally an ALL system user. what I find funny is the debates that people have over who's better, Mac or Windows (not pc)
Macs are great for show, run smoothly but very hard to truelly personnalize, you are limited to many default options...
Windows are great for Do-it-yourself-ers, being able to re-type files and over all program creation. sure it freezes up but its more personalizable (hardware and software)

There is no need to argue about PC vs Apple. I look at it this way; a PC is a Chevy or Ford and an Apple is a Rolls Royce, Jag, BMW. They will both get you where you need to go. One just might be easier or more fun to use than the other. I switched to Mac 2 years ago. I just bought my second iMac and couldn't be happier with it. I could not face going back to using Microsoft again.

For some people a Mac can suit your needs.
For the consumers who need their computer for basic media functions(DVDs, Music, Photos, etc), it makes sense to get the cheapest option, which in all cases will be a PC.
Marketing the Mac to a price conscious consumer is inherently wrong =).

However, Apple works very hard to keep these prices from going up with the next innovation. For example, for the new MacBook Pros, Apple gives the consumer the option to upgrade to an $1000 i7 processor while only adding $200 to the price. All in all, Apple products give a lot for what you pay for them.

i have a mac laptop from i think 1998, not too sure. still works to this day, and ive had to invest about 50 bucks into it for an upgrade. in 2007 i got a pc, and then in 2008 i got another one. the first one broke, and the one i'm using now, i am not happy with it. its an asus with an amazing graphics chip, and a supposedly great processor. my mac still runs faster then this piece of junk. even my old desktop macs from 1994 work better then this, just need an upgrade, and they'll work fine.

in the time you go through one mac... a pc user goes through 2... I have a Oct 07 Macbook Pro with 6GB, 2.4 Ghz Core 2 Duo, 500GB HDD 16MB Cache 7200 RPM.. better quality = longer life.. usually a higher price tag will go with it.. the new 6 core intel chips will be on mac first this year among personal computers.. how many PCs you know are even up to date with Mac Pro (8 Core) that came out 2 years ago? not to mention.. no virus programs needed on mac.. just another expense to keep a pc working

You make a good point that Apple comoputers are more advanced in technology and are among the pioneers to bring multitouch (now on a handful of netbooks) backlit keyboard, etc. as far as viruses and spyware, no computer is immune to it but the way it is designed makes it harder to do so. As I am the apparent IT admin around my house, I there are about as many different Operating Systems as people so I have gotten to know past and present versions of Linux, Windows, and Macs and where they shine.

Mac has good software i can say, mac computers are small slim and have no noise, its good to have a slim computer that makes no noise its really good i have a desktop pc that can play games on 1980x1080 on high quality , my pc boots in 5seconds cause i have ssd but the NOISE IS A TORTURE OF MIND , i made it myself with good parts and it was very cheap!! , if you want to have the latest hitech computer with fast cpu... you must buy a PC if you have no problem with that you can get a mac.

etc, which all require a Windows license). Why go through the hassle? Game developers use the windows platform considering the fact that there is are +80% PC users in the world over mac. Also figure driver issues without running it native. I'd rather stick with STEAM for PC FTW! Check out my pc built in spring 08!

@stick00it bootcamp comes with all leopards... All it does, it creates a partition on your hdd and integrates drivers to windows... so it does run natively. Fyi there, are many other uses for a computers, other than games. i own both - a high-end desktop pc for games and movies (1.7 TB hdd storage) and macbook pro, for absolutely everything else! If you are so retarded, that there is no way you can get used to a different interface... then thats YOUR problem... go see a doctor

If they were talking about the less simple stuff like compiling and setting up programs yourself, then i'd understand and just say hey, get a mac. Frame rate and all that shit look better on the pc (even if the macs graphics are at "full"). Btw bootcamp is a friggin joke, why get a mac then try and make it more like a pc? I use the pc because its good for programming, gaming, 3D modeling, social networking and upgrading. Macs can do all that only it will cost you like $1,000,000 more.
