practice this with safety barrel, and i practice in the same exact vehicle, my chevy impala mmmmhmm, and this may seem like a silly thing to practice but its the motions, if you go threw them enough, when the forbidden day comes, it wont feel so unorthodox.
I was involved, in what I believe to be an attempted carjacking about a month ago. Two idiots came to opposite sides of the vehicle, the one on the passenger side tried to open the door, so I gunned it through the red light & came close to getting T-boned. It does happen. If he would have got that door open I think I would have had a knife in my side, or a gun in my face.
wow you taught me something agian most likely that putting the gun across your self instead of the way you did it would have been the way i would have done it with out thinking that i was pointing a loaded gun at my self dude ur awesome.
I've done this same style training at the police department I worked for but we didn't do the steering wheel method, but I really like it, very safe. You wouldn't want to shoot yourself in the femoral artery trying to protect yourself a little self defeating, literally...
Having said that. When the police arrive they're going to treat EVERYONE as a suspect. Upon arrival they don't know who's who until they start the investigation process. The cop work 101 is (1)Secure the scene, (2) Render Aid if needed, and (3) Figure out what happened.
We can legally fight for effect when any person(i.e. you or I) reasonably believes that we are in fear of serious bodily injury or death.
The reason why he said it is because 95% of the rest of the country has to legally retreat. But the practical reason is because even if you DON'T have to retreat many people feel that an innocet bystander may be caught in the crossfire OR the police may arrive & not knolw the difference between the offender & the victim.
That really depends on where you live. Different states have different laws concerning this. Florida, for example, doesn't have mandatory retreat laws.
Yes the LAW does say that in a few of the States. But DOESN'T mean it's practical. I made a video called "Why it is ILLEGAL to Shoot a Fleeing Suspect (Tennesee vs. Garner) I'd like you to check it out if you can.
That's a good video. And no, it's not practical to stay and fight many times. But in many states you do have the option to do that, although it's probably not as defensable in court as fleeing. There are definitely reasons why some people would want to stay and fight, and if it's legal there isn't any problem with that.
Thanks. Well some ppl are cowboys & some other ppl may think they live in a State that allows them to advance & find out the hard way they're wrong. & many ppl have killed someone & found out later they were a victim or witness. But it's ood that some ppl listen to me.
That's exactly why people should consider it their duty to know the laws concerning self defense and lethal force. That's even more important if you own a gun for protection.
As I said, there are many reasons why people may not want to retreat. One such example is having a family member close by who's still in danger. Even if I can retreat, I wouldn't if my family is still in danger and I could either protect them or help them flee.
Well if someone you know to be innocent is in danger & obviously there's no time to call police you don't have to retreat. But I address a lot of nut ball guys that think they're in an action movie.
@NinjaGirlRachel Why ? B) failed to try stopping A) so he did not need to shoot A). B had time to call the cops. Get restrain order. Failed to report the other attempted break-ins. Failed to report threats to life.
@samten10a that is still ridiculous. He never asked for the shit to happen. You arent legally required to notify the police someone has threatened your life.
. A state I use to live in Castle doctrine is in place. This happened: man (a) threats to kill another regularly. He B)failed to complain to cops. (a) showed up at the B) home and beat on door few times threatens life. B) would get gun and wait for the break-in. About a month break in happened B) shot A). A died. B) got a prison sentence of 40 years.
If you think Texas has good gun laws, come to Vermont. As long as you don't have a felony you can own and carry any gun you want without a permit, open or concealed.
Do not shot myself in the nuts....thanks for the tip (sarcasm). Seriusly though, ussing the steering wheel as a guild to keep good muzzle control is a great idea. I will have to pratice that some.
with a high caliber pistol . it can pierce through thin sheet metal.especially that imapala. but lawenforcement has reinforced door pannels, so that if gun fire occurs they use their door as shield . just and insight
9mm will blow clean through that door with no problem. a 38 special actually has less penetrating power than a 9mm because its so damn slow. The 9mm is moving so fast its gonna go through the door and the person hiding behind it Unless it hits a thicker section of the door (or the window motor) and gets stopped or deflected. which is unlikely to happen very often.
They don't have reinforced doors made to stop bullets. But many do have some type of Kevlar or other bullet resistant armor in the door panels. If you look at the front doors of many police cars they have a tag on them that says something like "Kevlar lined doors".
even some of your frangible pistol rounds will tear holes through a car, especially one built in the past 20 years. They arent made out of anything more than a beer can and some composites. Quit watching so many movies and learn your equipment and surroundings better.
@MRMetoo89 Actually...if you've shot up a junked car at a range you'll notice that pistol rounds does not always goes through, even point blank. I'm not entirely sure what exactly keeps FMJ ball lodging, but they do on occasion lodge.
In Oregon you can carry a concealed gun ON YOU or in your car anyplace with a CHL. Only exceptions are federal buildings, police stations, and any private property which states NO GUNS. Bars, Restaurants, Colleges, etc are ALLOWED.
In Texas it is perfectly legal to cary a locked and loaded handgun in you vechicle and it CAN be on your person. It MUST be concealed. If it can be seen by the casual observer or passer by then it is brandishing which is illegal. It is in the penal codes I belive in sect 411 not sure which sub catagory it is. Also it may be carried concealed to and from your residence to your car without a CHL.
I can't think of a state where it is illegal to carry a gun on your person while driving with a permit. Some states even allow you to carry on your person in a car without a permit.
Florida allows a person to carry concealed with a concealed carry permit . You can always have a handgun in your glove box as long as you follow Florida State law. Florida allows a person to have a gun in their vehicle only to/from range, place of repair, place of sale, hunting, etc. Florida also allows you to open carry a handgun/long gun on your person when camping/fishing/hunting (as long as park allows)
No, over 30 states have concealed carry permits that allow you to carry a concealed weapon almost anywhere (NO schools, gov't offices, cop stations, jails, strictly bars, sporting events, court rooms, etc). You can carry into banks, resturants, Wal-Mart, driving, etc.
Love it. Drive away. Drive away. Only fight if you have to. Great advise. Train as if you can't drive away, but keep that as your first choice. Thumbs up.

IF YOU CAN RETREAT WITH SAFETY YOU MUST DO SO. That's LAW.If someone gets out of a car to have a gunfight ANY of four things can happen
1) They can get killed
2) The D.A. can argue that they didn't attempt to retreat & charge them with a crime
3) Innocent people can get caught in the crossfire
4) When the police arrive they won't know who the good guys & bad guys are & might shoot EVERYONE
People should ONLY fight as a LAST resort & they need to stop acting like they're in an action movie
