Hey, I saw your post on my video from a month ago and I am just now seeing it because this is the first time that I have been on my youtube account in a very long time but anyways yeah it was a total of 18 inches but not where we were do to the snow drifts. We were on the far side of Normal actually into the country out past veterans parkways when it turns into pipeline and the snow drifts in the country were some pretty crazy stuff.
The neighbor that you see in the video which is directly in front of our house when I filmed the video had snow drifts completely over their house to the point where they had to dig a path from their door to the road.
There were snow drifts that just a few days before that video was taken where the snow drifts went completely over that house that I have in front of me in the video and they had to dig out a path from their doorway just to make it to the road.
In our yard there was only around 3-4 feet of snow so a huge difference from the neighbors house but that is just how snow drifts work..picture snowy waves throughout our neighborhood and that was exactly how this was.
In other peoples yards they had spots where you could see the grass still. Our house was right next to the corn field so unlike just about anywhere else in Normal, we did not have houses and buildings blocking the wind and the snow drifts from blowing in. We had just strictly snow drifts and nothing to stop them. So hopefully that explains why there were technically more than 18 inches for us rather than maybe where you were located or staying at.

I used to live in Normal and now live in Minneapolis. We don't bother to record 18 inch snowfalls here!
