They've aged really well all of them. If you consider how haggard and drug-wasted many rock band members from the 80s look then it's amaizing that these guys look so healthy. I reckon this is one band that was in it for the actual music and not the sex, drugs and rock and roll.
"There's no number on the house, the birds are heading south, sometimes you have to turn, the wrong way round, sometimes you get too close, to nowhere now..." awesome.
Church 10 mile out of town versus the Devil? a bit Da Vinci Code, surely? Its Rosslyn Chapel is on a Roseline they say, i.e redline, meaning a taboo or totem value, using the Devil nil tolerance illogic) The boys are playing nearby on Friday
The Original religious Redline was tears of blood after the Last Supper, tears as an anti-Devil redemption sign: tears of joy, tears of comedy, of hope, of awe, of empathy of true love. Flood in Greek is roos.
I can't comment on the rest of their reunion album as I haven't heard it yet but i was a tad dissapointed with this song. I thought it was a bit bland (something i thought I'd never say about a CH number). I don't think it's disasturous or anything, just not very memorable imo. Love the earlier stuff from 86-96 and I thought the Finn's Everyone Is Here album was really good and some of Neil's solo output. I'd still pay to see CH live though as they are a class act.
This is Crowded house at their very best and a beautiful video too, I remember seeing one of their first tours in Perth when all they had was one album, so they played every song in the album and they could do that because all of them were good! But this song is brilliant, charged with emotion, from a band that's seen highs and lows. Thanks for sharing this.
I admire the fact that Matt Sherrod hasn't tried to replace Paul in a sense, but brings his own unique style and personality to the band. Not like that douche who tried to imitate Michael Hutchence.
I really like this song, I can't believe it didn't break them into the mainstream again though. What else could they do, this industry just doesn't like old people anymore
Definitely. This song is just a beautiful piece of music. It kills everything on the charts nowadays. This is music with meaning, purpose and heart. Crowded House didn't write this song to make money, they wrote this because they like to write music.
This song actually did chart though, and Time On Earth went to number 1 on Oz and had platinum sales. There are still some people out there with good taste in music.
2:31 - 2:42 is pure classic Crowded House.

One of the all time CH classics. Legendary song that should be on any future "best of" compilation- Neil, you've still got it my friend!

Australasia's greater singer / songwriter. Oh, yeah and a band of fabulous players.

I love them more now. They've evolved into Shoegazing, which is the best fucking music there is.
