o,k you got to realise silverchair are not 17 any moreand are hitting thier 30s and like most young bands they grow up and out ward and are getting in tune with them self i mean dan did the dissociatives and ben and chirs did other stuff so in a way thier influencesand stuff matured like youll say yes i have followed them cince day dot and have totally enjoyed thier journey rock on chair
I agree with Tam and HotPapa... it's so amazing to hear progression and growth in a band's repertoire. There's something special coursing through the past 2 albums.
I can sympathise with the fans from the beginning who feel disgruntled at the perceived 'abandonment' of the earlier style; yet the rest of us can surely appreciate superb musicianship and musical artistry.
Diorama and Young Modern are so much better than anything the group did in the 90's. These two albums are a whole new arena, a whole new category. A gigantic leap forward from Neon. I love the 90's stuff but it isn't even close when you compare it to their recent work.
Many have left the love for silverchair, probably because of the change in Genre, but for those of us who were left, we know for a fact that they didn't changed for worse, they just became more matured, artistic and a real genius when it comes to music
So eccentric and lo-fi and whimsical. I love the feel of all the YM demos; I don't think they really captured it on the actual album.

To me, it sounds more like a Diorama´s song that one of YM
