Awesome! I saw them in NW Arkansas a couple of months back and they rocked it! Kevin has some serious pipes and I just love their sound. He is FAR better today than in the early days. The reason is maturity. The early days he just screamed half the time during live performances when he could have controlled it better and sounded more like the albums. He sounds awesome today! I hope they keep bringing it!
@derpmahderp that's because all of them loved what they did, but now they do the commercial style, regardless of whether they like it or not, that's what it change: how to play with passion to music and how to play for love of money
I love candlebox and I have this song on my ipod when we went to pick up my cousin from the airport after his first tour in Afghanistan He was like wait wait I love candlebox ... Im 33 and he is 21 ... I thought it was so cool .. Thankfully his first tour was also his only tour ... Thank you to all our troops ... But Josh thank you for not going back.
@tallicdeth I'd like to see said list. Any perspective for before you die should be powerful, I'll send ya some I think the world should hear if they're not in it.
A really good friend of Kevin died from drug abuse, and he wrote the song for him/her.
that was what once I read on a magazine...back in the 90's. I was a big fan, "you" and "blossom" were my fav. Arrow was performed at Woodstock 94. they played along with NIN, Bob Dylan, Joe Cocker, Collective soul, Blind Melon, Aerosmith, RHCP, Santana and Porno for Pyros, among others. :-) According to Mr. Martin "No sense" was his fave song. I miss those days... Shannon Hoon was really good too.
Still one of my favorite bands...and if you've never heard the whole album, pick it up, you won't be disappointed. Don't sleep on their later albums either. It's a shame that the band had sh*tty marketing push behind them. Great, great song.
kevin martin is true talent i belive he wasnt argry only honest this is how many early candlebox performances ive seen were.. i have seen candlebox about 16 times and kevin martin is "passionate" or very active in his performances he has mellowed some in his age however all candlebox songs are full of deep meaning and to just stand there wouldnt be candlebox .....they are currentyl touring and will see them two more times this year if you want to get your moneys worth see candlebox live
@desolategrey I saw them circa 1996 and boy was he angry, slamming the mic on the ground multiple times. They also didn't give an encore despite the audience loudly demanding one, which was kind of dick move. Not sure what happened, one of the guys I was with later said Kevin apologized in a magazine interview for that show? That was in Hamburg, Germany by the way.
@KristinNirvana As a producer, and an owner of my own stuido and independent label I would have to disagree, the vocalist came across more angry than passionate. Trust me friend, passion is good, anger, well, depending on the format, is not good. I'm not some silly little youtuber who doesn't know what they're talking about, I record and prodcuce for a living, the vocalist came across way to angry. But, either way, it's cool. Peace out.
Candlebox was one of the great bands right in the middle of the 90's music awesomeness. This dude has an incredible voice.
All yo youngsters out there, keep listening to 90's and KEEP PLAYING your instruments. Please bring back the 90's greatness! Get together and make it happen for all of us who still listen to nevermind and incesticide!!!

"auto tune" oh yeah they should outlaw GUITAR TUNERS huhh jesus you people are idiots. lets separate the "real guitarists" from the ones who can't tune that good by ear.
@mikeinoakland Wait, you do know that they were talking about that thing that makes people's voices all weird and fake sounding right? Has nothing to do with tuning guitars. It's a computerized effect people use to make voices sound different so it becomes less and less the person's own voice.
@mikeinoakland Lol. Wow. Who is talking about guitar tuners. Auto tune is an effect these so called artists use nowadays cause they can't fucking sing. You sing and it automatically pitches your voice correctly. Hence "auto-tune". All that shit that sounds like robots is fucking auto-tune. Idiots? Well kinda like the pot calling the kettle black.
I love how a lot of the comments are about how passionate this is. This band was totally underrated. If the band that was labeled as not as grunge as the rest of them can sound this cool and have this vibe, than literally all the bands of the 90's are greater than the best bands of today.
@KristinNirvana Nothing will EVER touch music from the mid 60's to 70's and the 90's. I wish i could just relive 1990 through about 1998 over and over again for life.
@prsfloods Yeah, I feel ya man, I love the 60's and 70's too, and I always thought life should have looped on maybe like 91-97 forever. Though I wasn't even born untill '92, so boy did I miss out!
@KristinNirvana I guess i was a lucky one. I was born in 82 so my teen years were filled with great music, great friends, great weed, and playing great shows. This society and "pop" culture is nothing short of disgusting now.
@prsfloods Yeah, I've hated it since the whole late 90's pop thing that keeps seeming to repeat itself. At the very least though, it's making me so sick I want to do something to change it, so I've been practicing guitar in hopes of forming an actually good, real band and maybe bring it all back.
@KristinNirvana Keep playing. I've been playing since i was 13. I have had my share of bands. Sad thing is nowadays everyone wants to play Nickelback and Linkin Park. So keep playing maybe we can share a stage somewhere down the road.
@prsfloods Hey cool, I started playing when I was 13, but I was like the smart kid in school that was thrown into the honors classes and had buttloads of work to do during the school year, but I picked it back up every summer, but I've only been really starting to play the last year or two. I mainly just care about the whole 90's/gen x/Seattle/grunge/alternative/riot grrrl thing so I hope I can eventually form a band of similar people. I want to move to Seattle, so maybe I'll find people there.
@KristinNirvana I was so far away from being the smart kid. lol. I worried more about getting stoned and playing music but i wouldn't trade it for anything. Best advice ever would be to play everyday. Even if its just for like 10 minutes. Always keep the fingers moving. Whatever you do, good luck and keep on rockin in the free world. lol
@prsfloods Thanks so much. It always helps to have a little support. It's been hard for me to find what with me not fitting in to my crappy generation and all for the past 13 years.
@KristinNirvana I bet. Be yourself and who gives 2 shits what anyone else thinks. As Eddie Vedder says. "the love he receives is love that is saved". Half the fuckers you don't or didn't fit in with won't mean shit in 5 years.
remember gettin this cd for christmas 93 when i was 13 changed the whole corse of my life in fact thewre are no candlebox cd that arent good even kevin martin and the hi watts are really great true ttalent may seattle sound live on for ever
@paposwing25 i only get 95 wiil now that q101 is gone. The last song i had ever heard on q101 was this song, right after hearing it on 95 after the announcement that they were going to be at wiil rock the ranch.
In 1993, a great number of excellent albums were released. Among the top of them was Candlebox's freshman effort. Brilliant. I was an impressionable 12 year old living in Seattle at the time. I can't tell you how fucking satisfying it is to know that I was actually right!- I DID have great taste in music as a child. Maybe I was lucky to be raised in a renaissance of passionate music. Still, thank YOU, Candlebox!
Attention teens/tweens of today: I am so sorry; you deserve much better.
@Freemonious Thank you for apologizing. Today sucks! I had good taste in music when I was a child too. I was the only little girl to hate Britney, Christina, Backstreet boys, Aaron Carter, N'sync etc. Thank god I found out about this when I was 12 though. I instantly loved it and knew it was perfect. You're very lucky though. It would have been great to not feel so different from the time I was 6 and going. I guess I'm right too. Apparently all my favorite musicians got famous when I was born.

I agree 3KOBAIN today's so called artists thinking their sampling and beats validate them what a joke... seeing this video reminds me how much craved to listen and party to real rock music by real artist....
I have listen to this for years.. often wondering if what it means to me is, well what the singer ment it to mean. Well now I know it does. I miss you.
this is an awesome badass 90's song! never knew what they looked like til today! see music does speak for itself. wish we could go back to just listening to FM radio days........and just imagine!
out of all the concerts and videos ive watch on youtube. this old video right here still has the most passion in it. i miss the days when people were real with music. what you heard was what they felt. not todays auto tuned prepackaged craptastical shitfest.
@murakumo33 Im only 17 now so i was probably like 3 when this originally came out but i just wanna say that you couldn't be more right. I got my moms taste in music and i do really love some of the modern Punk Rock and Screamo but my true love and passion lies with the 90's Alternative Rock and Grunge. Far Behind and Cover Me are my favorites from Candlebox lol and Cover Me was actually the first song i ever learned on guitar xD
I think he has an amazing voice. His way to interpretate this song is something that I don't see very often, maybe this perfomance is one of the best I've ever seen, because of the power of his voice and corporal expression....
I just saw candlebox last summer at an outdoor concert here in michigan and they blew me away. Very good band live even after all these years. Very underrated in my opinion, one of the more distinct sounds of the grunge period. Good stuff, I hope to see them again if they make it back.
@mwhight Hmm, I always thought they kind of sounded like from Seattle but not that much. Yeah they do sound different. I had always heard them labeled as post-grunge, and I recently read an interview with the singer saying they were labeled as grunge-lite and they didn't really like the labels anyway because all the grunge bands are diverse. I always kind of thought of them as soulful bluesy alternative, but I did think they sounded 90's, but that miht be because I grew up hearing this song then
Love this song! Everything mixes perfectly, the guitar, bass, drums, Kevin's vocals... They are currently on tour; I'm looking forward to seeing them for the first time in two weeks!

Out of all the post grunge that came out around and after Kurt died, I'd say candlebox is pretty underrated.
jessewendel100 7 months ago 2
I have listen to this for years.. often wondering if what it means to me is, well what the singer ment it to mean. Well now I know it does. I miss you.

David Letterman gets my vote for the most plastic human being of the 21st century. Good god what a fake of a human being he is.

out of all the concerts and videos ive watch on youtube. this old video right here still has the most passion in it. i miss the days when people were real with music. what you heard was what they felt. not todays auto tuned prepackaged craptastical shitfest.

@KristinNirvana
That's weird that they are from Seattle because their album doesn't sound like the "Seattle sound". They sound almost like an 80s rock band.
mwhight 8 months ago
@mwhight Hmm, I always thought they kind of sounded like from Seattle but not that much. Yeah they do sound different. I had always heard them labeled as post-grunge, and I recently read an interview with the singer saying they were labeled as grunge-lite and they didn't really like the labels anyway because all the grunge bands are diverse. I always kind of thought of them as soulful bluesy alternative, but I did think they sounded 90's, but that miht be because I grew up hearing this song then
KristinNirvana 8 months ago
Awesome song. Is it true that they are from Seattle ? They sound less grunge-ish as Alice in chains and nirvana.
mwhight 8 months ago
@mwhight Yeah, they are from Seattle.

Love this song! Everything mixes perfectly, the guitar, bass, drums, Kevin's vocals... They are currently on tour; I'm looking forward to seeing them for the first time in two weeks!
