It pisses me off so bad that Rush Limbaugh plays a clip of this song on his radio show any time he wishes to ridicule someone suffering from AIDS. Klaus was a x100 better person that Rush could ever hope to be.
i love u klaus! Im 22 and this really brings tears to my eyes because i was 9 at the time i saw his performance on 'urgh! a music war!' Since then i was mesmerized for life! We need him and not posers like Gaga!
The first time I heard Klaus Nomi was from watching the clip in URGH! sometime between 1983-1985. Being back in the days when news about underground artists was non-existant, I'd have endless discussions with friends about who or what Klaus Nomi was. Some of us even thought he was a she - but that's because our only knowledge of him was through that lone clip. Never realised until recently and after seeing The Nomi Song just how great and influencial a person he was.
This is a BRILLIANT documentary ......It needs to get programed onto MTV and wake up all those little musical yougnsters to what sound and image can "Bekome."
I know I keep leaving comments but I have to say that back then he was WAY ahead of his time and even today, he still is, always ahead of the 'times' yet so current at the same time.. his work is truly truly classic.. in the true sense of the word..
I kept hearing "You Don't Own Me" on Rush Limbaugh, actually played as a joke. I had to look this fellow up. Wow! What an amazing voice, what Songs! I am desparately hooked. Reading that he died so young brings on great sorrow.
I started a Klaus Nomi group here on Youtube if anyone would like care to join. I have added some links interesting to those of us part of Nomi World.

Man, Klaus has been gone for over 20 years and people are still trying to catch up to him. Watching this on Netflix as soon as I hit "post comment."

I feel sort of drained and melancholic after having just watched this dvd.
Not that the music was great or anything, but just that he shone brightly for a brief time. Sort of a classic story.

Rush likes to play clips of his music to make fun of people dying of AIDS.
Nomi died from it and Rush knows this.
That man sure has alot of class.
