@travz21 This is not necessarily the case. though I do agree that this particular couple seems to be quite capable of getting along fen by themselves, some senior citizens (and other citizens for that matter) are not capable of taking care of themselves, whether for health reasons or otherwise. I feel that there has to be some sort of balance between taking care of the elderly and totally seizing their lives.

So while they were living in their own home there was nothing to suggest they weren't taking care of themselves. The government can do and does what it damn well pleases. Where is AARP, the ACLU, or any number of like organizations? Once the court makes a decree there is little that can be done to challenge the decision. And that opens the door to corruption. There isn't a state where this isn't happening. I watched a court appointed shyster steal from my mother with the blessing of the court.

The agencies responsible for this must be sent a strong message: That, through the court system, these types of abuses shall not be acceptable, nor tolerated. It is up to all of us here on the Internet to influence the outcome of this matter to see these people back in their homes and to sens a message to those responsible for this fiasco that: "Yes, you will pay a lot of monetary damages, lose your jobs, and go to jail." Please keep tabs on this matter.

All monies spent by the court-appointed guardian should be immediately returned to the Kidds, and all attorney's fees compensated. All involved with this matter should be removed from their state jobs and be forbidden to ever hold a state job again, no matter what the position; also, all involved should not ever be allowed to be in the care of elderly persons without a Master's Degree in Gerontology as well as verifiable Charitable Non-Profit Experience.

Federal Bureau of Investigation should be brought into this case to get the Kidds back into their own residence, and a professional security team hired to keep morons away. Care for Mrs. Kidd can be had for a fraction of the price of the nursing care facility. The home looks like it's in a nice neighborhood, so good skilled and unskilled nursing care, if available, shouldn't be too hard to find.

The news crew should follow up with visits to the nursing care facility, and pressure the state.

The Texas Attorney General's Office should be contacted. The neighbors appearing on-camera should be collecting funds to hire a good attorney to represent the Kidds. Charges--including charges of Conspiracy To Illegally Appropriate Private Funds for Public Use. (Investigation into the relationships between the hospital where Mr. Kidd got his hip replacement, Adult Protective Services, etc., should be a first priority in this investigation. (more)
