  • Beautiful playing on one of my all-time favorite slow tunes. Wish I could play cornet like that (I'm gonna learn this solo, though).

  • Got to be jazz at it's best.

  • Warren and Scott what could be better.

  • Warren sounds so much like Bobby Hackett with that vibrato. Great vid!!

  • @kingoliver45 Bobby Hacket is one of the greatest cornet players of all time.

  • i luv this piece... we're playing it for our jazz band

  • Museum of modern arts New York 1964, same tune,same piano player, the great George Wein! Same feeling in the intro but another great cornetplayer, Ruby Braff. This is the best Blue And Sentimental I ever heard, Warren !!

  • Interesting that you should mention this song and Ruby Braff at the same time, since I have that combo, and Scott Hamilton, on a CD 'Ruby Braff and his New England Songbirds' which is the first time I ever heard Scott.

  • Hi John?,

    The first notes of the intro by George Wein are allmost the same as he uses in the recording I mentioned in my remark. But I mad a mistake, tehe recording was not in 1964 in the museum of modern arts in NY, but in Paris, the Olympia Theatre on March 15th 1961.

    It was released by Philips nr; B-14553L

    Personal;

    George Wein- pno

    Ruby Braff - cnt

    PeeWee Russell - clt

    Vic Dickenson - trb

    Jim Wood - bs

    Buzzy Drootin - drs

  • This is a winner Bob. From the first strains of Scott's glorious tenor,followed by the lyrical sound of Warren's cornet, I was impressed by this version of the old standard. Nice one!!
