I mentioned this right after the PoD, but no response. Here R and C bring up the topic again, so I just have to say it. Frank is divorced & not Catholic. There has been a focus on N being Cath [so same sex relationship not ok...]. But everyone [incl her] seems perf fine with her marrying a divorced non-Catholic!! What is up with that?? If you're divorced, you REALLY can't have a Catholic wedding. Even if he got an annulment, he would then have to convert. When will that all happen?
I think maybe for N-, it's more about a relationship with God rather than committed to a particular denomination. She leans toward some Cath, practices because some of the acts of worship hold meaning for her. The icons & candles help her focus. Prayer is
universal. But for N- the idea is that a relation. w/ God is personal & what u believe is personal. Church is a community of people u worship w/& serve with. I could b wrong... If that's the case then it leaves room for her to seek out answers for herself by reading the Bible, praying, seeking wise council, observing circumstances, meditating or thinking , & using common sense. It's actually a lot
wider space to relate to Christ and others from, but it is also challenging & can b confusing. It would follow the no labels idea that this story line is all about however. JMO
well its a soap! they play fast and loose with many a reality ["eg SORAS - soap opera rapid aging syndrome"]. But N's faith has very specifically been presented as Catholic as opposed to "generic christian" - I am not sure WHY the writers chose that..but they have been consistent. eg...she had a crucifix, she says the rosary, she prays to Mary, a priest is blessing them [who looks catholic], Olivia calls a cath nun for advice...just pointing out that the divorce issue is now inconsistent

I want to thank you ladies for providing a phone number that we could call to give them our full support and feedback with the Natalia and Olivia storyline. Except Frank! J/k! Sorta. I think it is because of the episode where Natalia confided to Olivia that she did not have a baby shower b/c she was unmarried and PG w/Raef! She never got the parties and Olivia knows this and she is trying to make Natalia happy!

Every one who isn't international, watch live, Tivo and watch same day, go to CBS's site and watch the same day. All that counts is increasing viewership, which is all CBS cares about. Tell your friends to watch or at least have their tv while the show is on. If you don't want to watch the whole show, go CBS's website have current day's show running in the background. All that tosay no GL no Otalia.
thanks, allison. longtime lurker here. my weekend marathon of catch-up prior to the "fake" kiss inspired by My Two Mommies has brought me out of the woodwork. i've been even more inspired by the intense backstory of otalia's relationship. arguably the more passionate stuff predates the move-in: natalia saving olivia from repeated health threats, and olivia losing her job to get natalia's money back. hot damn. and what a stellar period of sympatico after the move in, before Frankus Interruptus.
Yea it's a great story, check out yamis23's Channel also she has a lot of Otalia from a year ago. The very beginning of the beginning I guess you'd say.
can anyone tell me, do soaps have summer hiatus the same as other shows? egads, i hope not, especially if cancellation does come down. here's to summer otalia lovin'!
No they show a new show everyday. It maybe a long drawn out part of the show the day, week, month or year before but it's definitely some type of new twist to a long drawn out story :-D

I'm wondering--what time slot is the German soap VL aired? Is it an evening soap, as the old "Dynasty" used to be? That's the type of time slot a storyline like this would be best suited for. There are a lot of college students who watch soaps, and I wouldn't watch at all without this type of a story. I'm an unexpected fan. But, there are some real ugly, nasty bigoted folk who watch, too--they probably don't even shower!

Poor Frank, the village idot look is so not good on him. He's getting played. Again I say, I weep!!!!! I've never seen a more tragic triangle. And yet I love the s/l so very much. Props to GL's writers for a novel, fresh, interesting, compassionate story.
And why in the world does he ALWAYS where those stupid starched suits?! He doesn't even ever unbutton the jacket. What a tool. Besides can't he see that there's something seriously wrong? Could Natalia be any less excited???
For Frank being able to wear those suits is to him an acknowledgement that he came up in the world. Remember, he grew up in a Blue Collar Neighborhood where he didn't have much so to be able to go from being a Diner Owner to a Police Detective is for him an achievement. Also, remember that with the exception of Coop, none of The Coopers actually went to College.
That last look on Nat's face was heartbreaking...

Poor Natalia, the look on her face at the end. She knows she has feelings for Olivia, but she sees Liv's willingness to embrace her engagement as proof that Olivia doesn't return those feelings...and she's CLEARLY so heartbroken.

For Frank being able to wear those suits is to him an acknowledgement that he came up in the world. Remember, he grew up in a Blue Collar Neighborhood where he didn't have much so to be able to go from being a Diner Owner to a Police Detective is for him an achievement. Also, remember that with the exception of Coop, none of The Coopers actually went to College.
