  • Gen has 50 more health than akuma

  • that super into ultra by gen was awesome

  • @4llsp4rx: You clearly don't appreciate the mind-games, footsies and strategy involved with high-level play.

    Stick to online scrubs.

  • @morydees34

    4 real

  • if you play these kind of akuma players online your one lucky devil to have that kind of quality on your opposition. If you think that this a bad akuma you better check your book MR and go back to your hole with the other scrubs from online

  • i think anyone who plays gen in a tournament level play should be applauded. plus hes from san diego. DAYGO BABY

  • Instead of relying on that anti-air, he jumped up and used his air normals to stop the demon flip mix-up game. That's a pretty big part of Ed's Akuma, so it was probably a good choice. In addition to that, it's hard to take advantage of crossups when Akuma is airborne trying to get some demon mix-ups, throwing airfireballs, and just staying away with teleport.

...Yeb probably knows the match better than any of us on youtube.

  • yeah..an Akuma has to be really good just to deal with Gen's basic shenanigans.

Akuma's got some good stuff going but damn he's just like those kids from Friday The 13th/Nightmare on Elm Street..wayyy too easy to kill.

  • ever think edma is good?

  • That was dope! But sadly the ending kinda sucked. But it's all good, it happens.

  • pussy ass comment

  • Akuma can't take hit like other chars. (Ryu, Bison, Sagat, etc.)

  • oh thnx x i guess that makes sense..well i guess evey1 plays there own way but im always on offence with bison

  • Yes, the character with the second lowest health in the game should have been "in your face" with a character who fights best at close range. Brilliant.

And you HAVE done something, not OF done something.

  • The fact a bottom tier character like GEN made it this far is very impressive.

  • He's only bottom tier because nobody plays him. Just wait until the Japanese get their hands on him...

  • yea, it would be cool to see a japanese gen, but the main competition is the arcade version which has no gen..

  • Yup, it'll be a while before we see some of the console characters get boosted up the tiers :P

However, characters with little mixup potential like Cammy might not increase...

Yes, I'm gonna hop on the bandwagon and think that Gen is actually pretty damned cool - purely thanks to Yeb's play. I've always thought that he was a boring and uninspiring character that was far too complicated to play as...

  • Since the tiers are made basically using japanese matches it's no wonder Gen is bottom. I bet if he was there since release he'd be at least mid tier.

Also, keep in mind that people won tournaments with characters like El Fuerte , Abel and Dhalsim that are indeed bottom tier as well.

PS: Loving Yeb's gen, although I think he could use Gekiro more often, but that's a personal preference.

  • the highlight of this tourney for me was Ed Ma putting on a normal clinic w/ Rog against a very good Rufus and Sagat player.

  • Why can't Edma bring Ken to high level like Yeb brought Gen?

  • While it may be "honorable" to pick a lower tier character to some people, there's probably more to his choice than that. Aside from being tired of Ken...

    Akuma has:

    -More combo possibilities

    -More resets

    -More mixups

    -Better escapes

    -Better space control

  • better matchups as well, especially against Zangief and Sagat.

  • Gen is a stronger character than Ken and no character plays like Gen, while Ken pales in comparison to the two shotos. I mean, if you're gonna roll with a shoto, why not pick one of the ones that happens to be top 3 character instead of a dude in the bottom third.

Although its funny cuz Ken has a really good match up against Gen. That step-kick screws up Gen's footsies/standing forward zoning and Gen can't do much about jab-jab-kara throw but block and try to tech.

  • Ken is waay better then Gen lmao. Also ken Is very different then ryu and akuma. Very different. Ken is in your face mixup, kara throwing. While akuma is back off fireball gaming. Basically 50/50 offense/defense. Ryu can be both, but imo ken is more mixup/agressive because of his kara.

its who you prefer, overall they are better then Ken yes. But ken is way better then Gen when looking at tiers and ranking Gen is with the worse characters in the game. But skill matters.

  • Although since there are so little good Gens, no one gets practice against them. And you need a lot of skill to master Gen. So he can be dangerous

  • i want to see him play ken :(

  • watching edma's ken vs. akuma is night and day. his akuma, while still fun to watch, is boring in comparison to his ken.

  • Lucky for Ed the entertainment of the audience isn't a factor in who he plays ;)

  • Damn man, that's inspiring. I'm holding a tourney here in my little podunk town, and this is what I aspire to.

Great work to everyone - the players, the directors, the organizers... the hot babes that were in teh adz... brings a tear to my eye.

  • mmm hard fight for Gen, he has a bad match up against Akuma. The combat was so close... for me, the Gen player is best than the Akuma player, but if Akuma spam a lot, Gen has a hard fight always. The Akuma player, for me, wins because he played Akuma, and the other Gen. A lot of fail combos for Akuma! This game is the SHOTOFIGHTER 4...

  • Wow @ people griping about Edma using Akuma. Edma's simply the better player...he won because of that.

  • People that gripe about it just don't know Edma.

They should look up some of his old Ken videos and realize he takes Akuma to the next level.

  • wow they actually used a 360

    about time

    nice try yeb

  • Dope Ass Fight! - Ed Ma's Brings the Pain ahaha :D

Yeb's Gen was fuckin sick too.

  • I wanted Yeb to win because everyone underestimates Gen because he is the most technical fighter, or at least among the most.

  • Good shit yeb, and props to ed fuckin ma. Both players played really smart, I don't care what people say.

  • The important thing: Edma still won. Playing a match of SF isn't just mashing out combos and hoping they'll land, from the second you sit down next to your opponent you are reading them, analyzing what they do, how they move, catching on to their patterns and punishing their mistakes, all while trying to make sure you don't become too predictable. Playing smart sometimes entails that you have to do repetitive things in order to frustrate your opponent into messing up, then you let 'em have it.

  • glaive616, i think he just want to keep the distance, play footsies and be pacient. akuma takes a lot of damage you know, so it only takes one goo guess to take him down

  • Yeah because he's gonna stand there and let Yeb attack him isn't he?

  • I love how edma doesnt know the match up but stil wins Yeb gimmicks didnt work here.

  • where were the gimmicks? crossup oga after ultra? pfft, yeb just played a good game

  • Very nearly won it and all. Got all the required work done and was just unfortunate at the last point.

  • Yeb is a upcoming beast with God-like skills,

  • Yeb won over a lot of fans this weekend. Definitely a fan favorite now.

  • just curious, what do you mean by skill ?

  • What Yeb does, his BnB combo, is far from a simple input.

The timing for the second MK is like, really hard to get just right, and if your punches last just a bit too long, you are out of range.

While i'm not saying he's perfect, he's got more to learn to handle people like this. (Jumping back, air-doken, standing back. It's basically what friends who've never played the game before do in the arcades against each other) and sweeping, which every 'scrub' does online you see what I mean by skill

  • i dont agree that skill is based on complicated inputs. at the end of the day utilizing your space and normals properly is far more important because if fancy fails then simple prevails in such intense matchups ... yeb can combo his butttocks off but i am sure that not just any player is capable of beating a player of yeb's calibur by only doing air hado's and sweeps, it really has a lot to do with ed ma simplifying his game and and utilizing a simpler tactic effectively.

  • If scrubs and people who never played SFIV can do the combos Ed Ma does why aren't they placing top 8 in tournaments. There is more to Street Fighter than having good execution.

  • wth? Ed Ma placed 3rd at Evo, a much bigger tournament w/ much better comp. I don't even think Yeb placed. His execution may be on par w/ Ed Ma's but he's obviously not on the same level strategy and knowledge-wise.

  • its abit dark but i can see everything fine, thanks for the upload

  • lol i can barely see anything

  • Your monitor might be a little dark. Turn up the brightness.

Admittedly, the lighting in there wasn't ideal though.
