I agree that Obama won this hands down, but I felt discouraged by both candidates when they refused to play by the rules they established for themselves. Brokaw handled this debate very well, giving what the candidates were giving him.
I don't really see any problem with breaking the rules- they were stupid to begin with, constricting to the point where it the so called 'debate' would've been completely pointless. Plus, they both broke them, so if both candidates don't care for the rules that THEY set, who are we to say they shouldn't? I think the moderator should've gone with it an altered his presentation to fit the candidates' process, not the other way around.
That was the cheesiest debate set I've ever seen and those chairs and their placement absolutely sucked. I would have carried a wooden stool out there with me and said to hell with that nonsense.

I agree that Obama won this hands down, but I felt discouraged by both candidates when they refused to play by the rules they established for themselves. Brokaw handled this debate very well, giving what the candidates were giving him.

I don't really see any problem with breaking the rules- they were stupid to begin with, constricting to the point where it the so called 'debate' would've been completely pointless. Plus, they both broke them, so if both candidates don't care for the rules that THEY set, who are we to say they shouldn't? I think the moderator should've gone with it an altered his presentation to fit the candidates' process, not the other way around.

Really not a useful debate. Also there were a lot of comments thrown out that should have had followup and Brokaw could have allowed them to clarify.
Anyway, I hated this format. Not really a true townhall and the questions weren't very helpful

When I was watching it on TV, the camera angle was messed up so you couldn't tell what they were doing... but you could tell that they were in really close proximity... WHAT ELSE WOULD THEY BE DOING??? This is such a non-issue.
And of course they don't like each-other. They're both saying things about each-other that the other can't stand, or isn't true, or is a distortion of the facts. It's politics.
