They forgot them and then began something new.

What are you talking about. The first Toa of the series, the Toa Mata/Nuva, were the main lego sets just last year and in every year (expect2004 and 2005) they played a key role in the storyline

In 2009, they still played a major role, but they were not sent to the new planet that the main storyline was going to take place on. Only Mata Nui and the Mask of Life were went to the new world. That is why the Toa Nuva aren't in the movie, they're still fighting back on thier home planet.
