  • Oh that is bull shit

  • I used to have a T20 but I have a ThinkPad T30 now.

  • but will it blend?

  • this is stupid all hard drives will live under water for days. not just your IBM. Suck a nut!

  • Thinkpads have standard HDD drives that are not manufactured by ibm an can be found in other brand laptops aswell

  • 2:30 sounds like "but I shit the ThinkPad to my company's help desk"

  • I wonder why the laptop all of a sudden had more dirt than before

    check out 2:12 and 2:33

  • @jytub310 because it dry. when something wet (especially when it comesto clay, dirt) it looks less dirty then actually what is. True Story :)

  • @BijeloNW ok I under stand now thakyou

  • That's 4 minutes if my life I can never get back.....

  • @YoungBryant26 hahahah

  • Yea... as long as it isnt solid state drive almost every HD can be pulled and have the data taken off... I guess they are proud of the fact that it wasnt a newer SSD and a slow ass 5400rpm HD which we call at our company large paper weights with a "open" option to get some pretty powerful magnets and magnet coils for our kids wind generators. You go thinkpad!

  • im gonna kill myself now . bye

  • My thinkpad did not go down the toilet, and still had to spend $ 35 with a plumber.

  • If u spill water on your laptop:

Shut it off IMMEDIATELY, pull out the power chord & the battery FAST. This must be done within seconds otherwise the water will seep in & short out the circuits.

Once the laptop is off, place it in a warm dry place like next to a window so the sun can evaporate the water. Let it dry for a few days. Never turn it on until 100% of the water is gone. If u can, open it up & dry it out.

Once it's dry, turn it on & give it a try. Hopefully it works.. good luck! :)

  • That should teach you to back up your shit to a thumb drive just in case....women..

  • what need they had to make this crap if it is not true?? If I wanted to buy a thinkpad, this lame commercial totally turned me off.

lenovo, say thanks to the creators of this shit.

  • don't thank thinkpad, thank the manufacturer of the hard drive!

  • what everyone forgets it takes a very simple coding on the motherboard to make a laptop waterproof it cost to manufacture less than 30cents

  • just a thought but that was a hard drive saving that 1 ....

it woulda been a cool video is she hit the power button and it turned on

  • So none of these really happened and everything was inflated?

  • Thinkpadz rock -3

  • Thought they were gonna say it survived hard drives are waterproof. Big whoop

  • So they took out the hard drive and placed it inside another ThinkPad. Big fucking deal, right?

  • .... Why am I watching this?

  • So basically what she's saying is don't buy a thinkpad because at some point in time your house is going to get owned by a cyclone

  • thats why you back up your shit to avoid $1000 data recovery services

  • i Dont Get The Point Of This Vid, Please Explain To Me, Thank You.

  • Fresh water is easily survived, my trusty T60 got a cup of coffee (with sugar) knocked over it, instant black screen and lights out. Whipped the network cable and powerlead out, battery off, then literally washed it out under the tap... had whole laptop under water (sugar will destroy the PCB if left in). Same laptop is now happily running Windows 7 after a good drying out.

  • you must to clean only hdd ?

  • Cool but you said it still worked but

    Only the harddrive did

  • 66 people can never realize the point on using both mac and pc.

  • So it doesn't work then? You recovered the data...

A hard-disk is NOT the same as a working laptop. Fail.

  • Comment removed

  • i use both mac and pc.

  • @mickyd110011

    Congratulations, you want a cookie?

  • Poor woman have no idea how computers work...

  • lol it does not still work but the data is stored on the hard drive whoch would be retrievable from any laptop and still work as long as its not dented

  • thinkpad rules!!

  • Somehow at 1:44 till 1:45, the titanic song came to my mind.

  • THINKPAD ROCKS

  • do more backups next time!

  • This is the Chuck Norris of laptops!

  • 6 month of work - and only one copy. no backups, no thumb drives, no uploads, no discs - nothing

real believable or pretty stupid =D

  • @Ishidasouken People creating no back ups is not unheard of at all. Stupid? yes, but not unheard of.

  • @dmightx i guess its possible. i backup my work on a almost daily basis

and they did 6 months of work - with only 1 copy

which is in itself hard to believe, because it can only be something she worked on alone, obviously...

amybe she wrote a book and had only the working copy on the hdd

    quite stupid indeed =D

  • Read the disclaimer at the end. It pretty much says "This was a reenactment and the lady spilled a bottle of water on it. Your warranty doesn't cover anything, so don't try this at home."

    Thank you, Lenovo.

  • @Sloppyjoemess Yeah pretty much. They're great laptops though.

  • @Sloppyjoemess i read the disclaimer, where's the thing that you said the lady just spilled a bottle of water on to it? 3:22

  • Isint this bluffing ?? When the company said that you had receive all the data back , the computer should be turned on but you did not show it turn on .

  • 3min33seconds of my life wasted coz of u!! shut up!!

  • i was expecting them to send the dirty laptop back, thinking that it was still working :P

  • She will probally burry the thinkpad!

Here lies the remains of the thinkpad.

    R.I.P

From 20th century to 20th century?

We will remember you star wars.

Thats what the grave stone should say!! lol

  • 6 months of work and no backup? sure...

  • @Ashe94 She's a woman...

    ;)

  • и что тут невероятного???жесткий диск герметичен,любой дурак может скопировать с него всю информацию

  • Yea, the laptop died but the HDD survived - it doesn't mean the 'tops tough

  • This is sooo commercial...

  • Saddly the Ideapad series isn't as good.

  • this is retarded.

  • how would you not taking your laptop with you when you try to evacuate

  • this is why you should always backup your data

  • "at some point, my desk tipped over, and i was above it, filming my laptop drown."

  • it did not still work, they pulled the hard drive and recovered the info. if it still worked they would have sent her back the whole laptop, not sent her a file!

  • @afg96

the new sony vaio's vpcz128gg are a rocket

  • @ry4n0007 vaio are bull they suck ***

  • @ry4n0007 mac>pc

  • @ry4n0007 no it couldn't mate!

  • @ry4n0007 no it couldn't mate!!

  • @afg96 IBM sold "thinkpad" as well as all PC manufacturing rights to Lenovo about 3 years ago as far as i know and im sure that IBM isnt the only company that makes RFID tags ie. "the mark" as many call them.

  • @afg96 Macs suck period. PC is flexible and better

  • @Tofu64Vagine is that why mac always wins customer support?

  • @afg96

Cool story, apple brainwashed mac fanboy.

  • @MasterNaruto1214 Really? IBM makes veri chips every day and plans a global domination and that is nothing, lol you are sad

  • @afg96 but this laptop hard disks are sealed so that water cannot go in so they just remove the hard disk cover and got the platter (in thinkpads you have platters only one) the jut put into a new hardisk

  • @afg96 hahahaha this is the best joke i have ever heared xDDD "Mac is better than PC"

  • @afg96 You know, Apple users agree on letting Apple use information about what the user does with the computer and gives them the right to sell it to third parties. So actually, Apple cannot be trusted. Just view their EULA next time you install programs from Apple.

  • @Anima87 Thanks bro for you concern. But you should know what IBM does and the reason why I don't like them. First thing, IBM also known as International Business Machines do the same thing! Second they made veri chip that basically spy on you, and traces you down. IBM played a major role during WWII and yes I said WWII helping nazis. So now you tell me how is bad.

  • @afg96 Apple is booted off an cd that was installed on harddrive.

It has the same fucking parts as a PC. So wtf?

    Just a different OS..

  • @afg96 mac is pc

  • @afg96 well macs aint that durable (i like apple, 2 but macbooks n stuff r EASY to fuck up)

  • @afg96 get linux

  • @afg96 Agreed, we can totally trust Apple. Its not like they would track our every move using the GPS in our iPhones and save it to their servers or anything like that.

  • @Eragon7985 XD HAHAHAHA YOU JUST SAID WHAT THEY DO TO EVERY BUYER HAHAHA Nice job HAHAHAHA THEY DO TRACK YOU THEN SAVE IT ONTO THEIR SEVERS HAHAHA Sorry but it's just too funny...

  • @afg96 we dont care, just use both.

  • her whole house was full of water and she s worried about her think pad..

  • @MachinimaMan141 you look like shit

  • HDs are pretty much waterproof, derp!

  • It's called backing up your data, lady.

  • Thank you TOSHIBA or HITACHI for make submersible Hard Disk!!!!. I think.

  • gay sound* That's like the best computer EVAAAR!...

  • What a shame, now the gulf of mexico is full of oil, AHAHAHAHA

  • Its not the shitty computer, its the hard drive. You could put any computer underwater and get your shit back. Their over priced. I can get a computer 5x more faster and can handle more space that that shitty thinkpad. I seen what compenents the thinkpad comes with. Man was i suprised. and not in a good way. I got a 6 gig ram 1 TB of space and 3 Ghz core proccesor for $500 and think pad goes waaaay over that price. Remember its the hard drive that this is about not the computer

  • Why doesnt she just freaking create a backup of your work? Leaving a 6 month report on a single PC is kinda dumb...

Actually she would have deserved it.

  • @y0utubeus0r it s a commercial..

  • Sure, the data was recovered, but what about the laptop? Conveniently kept under silence...

  • @VieuxMalcommode when u sink a laptop if its on there is apparently no way it would work agen.

there is a small chance if it was off but very verry unlikely.

But the IBM think pad is awsome.

  • Man this is just crap, my thinkpad r61i stood on its docking station on the working desk and it got hard drive mechanics malfunction. I wonder what would happen if i have dropped it or something. By the way hdd is Sagate 160Gb lenovo p/n: 42T1006

  • @shishimish ye the ibm reliability went out the window when lenvo brought the brand

  • If 6 months work was so important then why the heck leave the laptop in a flooded office and, more important, no back-ups at all???!!!!!

  • my dad has a thinkpad!

  • 6 month --> make backups !!!

  • damn Philips toughbooks can do better than that

  • @PRODVDi pff but i bet it was not made like 6 years ago and was very cheap.

  • The airhole still isn't for the sealed portion of the hardrive. It's sealed further than that. If any dust gets into a hardrive any data that dust touches is gone, so they are 100% completely sealed. Any computer will do what this thinkpad has done.

  • @Serpherable i would dissagree. this only the case on sold state hardives.

  • @MachinimaMan141 that's quality looking you right in the face

  • Wow this was BS. Doesn't surprise me that the data was recovered... Should do on any other computer... I would have been surprised if the laptop ITSELF actually powered on and worked.

  • fail!!! how long did this take to make lol

  • "Great news!!! i was able to recover ALL of the data on your Thinkpad!! also i've phoned the Cops for all the kiddie porn we found on here to.

    Best regards

    Notmyrealname bloggs.

  • That is cool! (Assuming it's true lol.)

  • hurricanes scare me :(....dont be a fuck tard u dick put it up fuckin jack mother fucker dont make me kill you!

  • Hdd's are sealed, so there are good chances in recovering your data.

  • @bzcrueldog HDD's are not sealed they have got the air hole to deal with different air pressures.

  • its not the laptop its the hard drive

  • @hc311 i agree with you

  • Whoow.... 2:34 :P

  • the hard drive inside the thinkpad is probably made by another company.. so this video is epic fail...

Thank you IBM for using another companies hard disc even though my laptop is offically a muddy/salty/ruined piece of brick!

  • @WorldForeverChanged Yeah when I took out my T40 HD, it was a 30GB Hitachi drive. Anyhow, dont diss IBM, they rock, or at least they rocked till they sold the thinkpad line to Lenovo. Now i'm into the Dell/Alienware thing.

  • unbeliavable story lol

  • You also have to consider that this was is salt water. Salt water isn't good for ANY electronics.

  • harddrives are sealed.

They put the same drives in all notebooks.

If a drive gets submerged there is a good chance you can recover all your date from any notebook.

  • dumbass

  • Hurricane vs. Laptop!

  • the laptop self was death not the hard drive if a laptop falls in water and you take it a few days out the water the hard disk survives

  • like it or not the HDD will die. the electronics will be useless but the platters will still retain the data. data recovery centers remove and clean the drive platters and restore them with working electronics.

nah, just to be on the safe side, back up you data. =)

  • computer looks like shit after she sent it off.. compared to before..

  • I did

  • If it was that important why didnt she back it up??

  • what the hell is this vid for, ovcourse the hard disk would still work. duh?!!!

  • Wrong. I don't won't to be annoying, but this is wrong. The laptop didn't survive under water. It was the hard drive, if you learn they are two different things, one is air tight and one isn't guess which survived!

  • exactly aha!

  • laptop could swinm out of window, lucky, intresting ohw the laptop cover didn't snap as it was under so many liters or galons of water that the pressure could just easily brake it, and laptops are portable why didnt you just grab it???

  • Not only had I saved 6 months work, but I also saved over 250 GB of porn!

  • LOL AMEN!

  • @crayjay3 ahahha

  • Hard drives are air tight.

  • so technically the thinkpad didnt survive. the hard drive did? i work in IT and that would be the most viable outcome of a flooded laptop.

  • the cake is a lie

  • at 1:45 i was hoping for ... so i jumped in the water and was electricuted and died

  • lol its works for anything!

but if the laptop survived the water, then it would be good

  • Try this at home TOO....xD

  • This has NOTHING to do with the ThinkPad!

You can send any hard drive to a recovery company and get data recovered!

The ThinkPad will not work anymore.

  • you can do it yourself if you have the right tools. most hard drives are air tight anyway so all you have to do is make sure the contacts are clean then hook it up again.

  • I agree, this video is gay. The hard drive is also vacuumed sealed, so....

  • yes they say that the hard drive data can be recovered from fire or water damage. Thats why it better to use the HDD and not the SSD because the HDD can be recovered.

  • Ya this is a stupid perversion of simple facts!

a dip in water wont automaticaly kill the Hard drive!

Though a bit of luck might have been involved as all HDs have a ventilation hole though small it could let water in which could harm the harddives surface.

There is nothing especialy water resistant about the think pad!

If nokia had made it then maybe there would have...

Hell nokia makes water resistant sauna resistent phones!

  • the laptop does NOT still work u jerk!

the data was recovered from the HDD - no more no less

    stupid

  • So they got the data of the Fujitsu hard drive - IBM doesn't even really use their own IBM hard drives in their laptops (hitachi bought the ibm hard drive name) - how does this ad speak of the motherboards of IBM? sigh........

  • Eh, that seemed like an add for Data Backup Warranty not the thinkpad still functioning after a dip (because it looks like she had a second thinkpad while the Technicians had her sunk one and sent her an email)

  • the acting in this was lame

  • Man id just wash the dirt away, i mean it survived the flood sure as hell it would survive a little wash!

  • with the new acer aspire one it would be submerged very badly due to the speakers down on the bottom

  • people need to learn more about computers...

ALL harddrives are water sealed becuase they wont work if theres water and dirt..

so of course it would be recoveralbe

  • thats correct. harddisks are waterproof. and in most cases even the electronic outside do not necessary take damage when in water. only if there is power to that PCB somewhere. a harddisk from a computer laid in water for 12 hours or more can be easily restored just replace the pcb and thats it.

  • whats a pcb?

  • printed cicuit board

check my electronic videos and you will see what it is ;-)

  • ok i looked it up on wiki

so they are just intergrated circut boards basicly?

  • did the radio still work?

  • What is so special about taking out the HD and getting all the files off it? Back then in 2004 it was probably a IDE drive but you can still get a USB converter..

  • HDDs are airtight.... no suprise.

  • No, they have a small vent on them. There's also the external components that could be damaged.

  • a vent on the harddisk? i dont think so. LOL.

  • they have them- " do not cover this hole" sound familiar? go look at a harddrive sometime you will see a breather hole ;)

  • so are hdd's water proof even with the small vent?

  • this video is cheesy as hell

  • hey fool, its not the laptop, its the harddisk that work. next time watch your video before upload it
