I'm wondering if that black box on the one collar is a bark collar. I would love to hear that dog howl without it. My basset had one of those for about a month and learned how to bark and bay around the collar. He's much quieter now though... They are precious!!! I bet they are so much fun at home. Beautiful dogs.

it is actually an invisible fence collar, but he never wears it anymore.

That's hilarious. I had a friend who's dog would go and sit at the end of the invisible fence until the collar gave him his warning beep and he would lie down and sleep while the battery wore down. Then he'd get up and patrol the neighborhood..... obviously you can buy the ones that don't have a warning beep.

What the Basset hound there is doing is baying. They do it normally when used for hunting, trails or primary sources of discovery.
