Use 2 gallons of water, 1 bottle of hydrogen peroxide and a small box of baking soda and 1/2 a cup of dish detergent. Mix well and apply on the dog using a sponge, make sure to apply so dog is thoroghly damp, let it soak for 2 to 5 minutes,, then hose himor her off then let them shake and dry them with a towel. Tomato juice will somewhat work but only masks the smell. I forgot to mention a dust mask works applied with a squirt of lime to help you breathe
I've been sprayed by a skunk before. Makes a sprayed pet seem like nothing, and a roadkill skunk seem like a lovely perfume. It's literally unbearable; I spent 10 minutes gagging my guts up.
I own a commercial rental property that was skunked. The only thing that worked was to get a plastic bowl fill it a quarter way with white vinegar then you bunch up a wad of paper towls and put them into the bowl so they get half wet with vinegar and then act as a wick- smell was completely gone in about 12 hours.

What happens is the wadded up paper towels continue to soak up the white vinegar in the bowl/basin and set off the smell of vinegar-replenish the bowl/basin with white vinegar as nesessary-
the acid in the vinegar cuts thru the oil of the skunk spray- keep the vinegar going more than 2-3 days and your property will start to smell like vinegar-which is more pleasant than skunk. About 12 to 24 hours should be enough-
My dog was skunked 4 nights in a row and I tried it all...to get rid of the smell. But, nothing worked. Used all the remedies and products found online. By the fourth night, I just grabbed the Dogosuds shampoo that I normally bathed the dog in and washed her. I was tired of mixing all the recipe stuff and it didn't work anyway. One washing in Dogosuds, peppermint/tea tree shampoo and the SKUNK SMELL WAS GONE! TOTALLY GONE! Now I keep it on hand and give it as gifts to friends dogs!!!!
i was wondering how to remove the smell of skunk because my friend dripped skunk fluid down my nose while i was sleeping in my dorm and now everything just stinks what can i do??

I Used a combination or "Nair" and "Viagra" to remove the nasty skunk smell from my dog. Try it, it works!

One more thing-I had to place about 4 to 5
of these bowls through out the building.
I concentrated where the smell was strongest.

Vinegar is not an old wives tale.
