reading over all the comments and i must say that the negative comments come from those that have never worked on or in a mining or quarry site which have posted enforced speed limits for safety and they have obviously never had a run in with msha (mining safety and hazard administration) and have never been fined by msha on site msha has more athority than osha does on mining and quarry sites mining and quarry work have different rules and regulations than flat ground construction sites

Thanks for the answer. I have a couple of water trucks in Sac Ca, I like working with the bigger scrapper cause they didn't try to kill you as opposed to the smaller ones. laughing. Very little work out here now:(

those r the slowest guys i have ever seen running a scraper, the only way to get dirt moved with a scraper is to hole it wide open until you get back to the cut
@kylerw1 lots of mines have enforced speed limits for wheeled machines for saftey reasons but I agree you have to peddle down to make production with a buggy
I wish Caterpillar would resurrect the 666B twin-engined scraper. Sadly, Caterpillar discontinued the 666B in 1979. The 666B was a very large and very reliable machine which I think could do a much better job than the 657G in backfilling strip mine operations.
here they get 1 warning then they're gone,if your lucky just replace the caps and bolts, usually winds up bending the apron and it will never be the same.
where is ths located. my father is the vp of atlantic cat (caterpillar dealer in atlantic canada) and he just sold for of these and like the other guy said they look band new and it kinda looks like the place where they were going
Hi Mark, This is Ben Conrad Of Conrad brothers in dartmouth, Yes these are John Chisholms machines at pioneer coal in stellarton. Hes got quite an operation going there. You should get Harold to show you around the mine some day, its quite a sight.

The best part of these things is how they load as they hook onto each other in a push-pull.
