The problem when you're a lead singer as Axl is that life rules always win, I mean, getting fat, smoking and getting old just ruined Axl's voice, just listen to a 92 show and compare. Slash will always be able to play the guitar like he did in those shows but Axl can't sing anymore and that's sad. how does Chinese Democracy "sound nothing|" like GNR? GNR always had strong guitar solos, piano ballads, axl's vocals and lyrics and so does CD. the album received several strong reviews regardless of your mindless hate for it.
as for CD selling "only 262,000" its first week in the US, compare that to what Velvet Revolver's album Libertad sold in TOTAL in the US: 230,000. helps give you some perspective.

steven adler was fired from the band in 1990 WITH SLASH'S CONSENT. GNR went on to do a world-historic super-successful tour with the Use Your Illusion double album which debuted at No. 1 and 2 on the charts. steven's absence mattered not a whit.
he did not write even A SINGLE song.
slash wasnt even in the 1st GNR line-up. there was GNR before him and there is after him.
slash quit. you can whine about it all you want but it changes nothing.

Steven played on Civil War, so he is on UYI, and Don't Cry was actually the first song the band ever wrote, so he was in on it.

i was painting with broad strokes there to stress that steven's exit from GNR was quite readily accepted by audiences. izzy who wrote/ co-wrote more songs than anybody else left in 91 yet it didnt deter legions of fans from loving the UYI tour.
nobody cried this isnt Guns N Roses then but slash's choice to leave the band creates a double-standard & people claim its not GNR.
it was GNR then & its GNR now. for people like us who are onboard, we get a cool ride!

thats false. the most slash has shown readiness for is one reunion show, just a quick cash grab and nothing more.
steven adler has done nothing since 1990except get multiple drug overdoses. he's obviously desperate for the money and thats why he goes from kissing axl's behind one week to cribbing about him the next.
izzy played with GNR in their 2006 tour and axl has said that he would play with duff too. but no surprise axl doesnt want anything to do with slash's two-faced behaviour.

haha! slash IS two-faced. he hypocritically calls axl his "brother" in media interviews but behind the scenes he sues axl over and over. very "brotherly" of him but hey thats just who slash is.
axl did nothing wrong to GNR. slash has been in 3 bands and each time he has feuded with his frontman (axl in GNR, rod jackson in Snakepit and scott weiland in Velvet Revolver). no wonder scott called him a frontman hater. :)

othe than axl, all of the fueds were over leadership. Scott was trying to run the show and say it was his band when in all reality he was the one that realy had no right to the leadership at all. slash duff and the other one were the one who started the band. remember the project? yeah thats how scott joined. he didnt start the band at all. now snake pit was also slashes band and i would hate it if someone was trying to run the show when i formed the band as well. he isnt a front man hater...

slash ADMITS in his book that conflict in Velvet Revolver arose because of HIS choosing different management from the rest of the band. PLUS, slash's wife Perla pathetically imposed herself &interfered with band matters & the other guys HATED this. slash's own best friend marc canter has confirmed this. :)
well, axl & izzy started GNR with tracii guns, ole beich & rob gardner. so according to your logic, slash never had any right to leadership in GNR then. :)

slash never claimed that rod jackson tried to "run" Snakepit. he claimed that rod jackson & the other guys in Snakepit were too drugged out to function properly & so he threw them out.
funny thing is slash HIMSELF admits that he TOO was drugged out of his mind during those years. so it is 100% hypocritical of him to point the finger at rod jackson or scott weiland for this.
after all, slash himself had a severe relapse on OxyContin in 2007.

how does Chinese Democracy "sound nothing|" like GNR? GNR always had strong guitar solos, piano ballads, axl's vocals and lyrics and so does CD. the album received several strong reviews regardless of your mindless hate for it.
as for CD selling "only 262,000" its first week in the US, compare that to what Velvet Revolver's album Libertad sold in TOTAL in the US: 230,000. helps give you some perspective.

axl was late to shows constantly but its funny to see you claim that he didnt show up "at all". GNR didnt set records for success in their live shows without axl showing up-that should be obvious even to you.
axl's lateness was connected to psychological difficulties that he openly talked about. its ironic that these difficulties were very convenient to slash, duff etc when axl used them as fuel for his fantastic lyrics but they wanted them to disappear when inconvenient for their interests.

What's also funny it's never mentioned the times GN'R were late getting on stage because slash is passed out on the backstage floor and the band had to get slash up and moving around to even perform becuase he'd be so out of it that he couldn't even stand up.

@uptowndog, its sad that u throw mud without finding out facts. according to moby who talked with Axl about producing Chinese Democracy & record company guys, Axl was clinically depressed after slash & duff dumped him. he didnt "disappear" for any mean purpose, he was going through an illness. kudos to u for throwing stones at him for that.
he did record 3 albums worth of material between 97-2008 with new GNR so just because he didnt seek media attention doesnt mean he didnt care for the music.

ChiDem may not be popular, but that's because a lot of people expected old gnr and yeah than you probably feel like getting a cold shower.
eg This I love, I find it very similar to don't cry. It's like the two are two pieces of almost the same story, this i love is the like the continuation where don't cry ended.

matt sorum himself admitted the difference between axl and scott weiland. he said that Velvet Revolver could only fill arenas of 5000 while GNR with axl could bring in 50,000. :)

That's cool ! The person your thinking of is Shannon Hoon. Him and Axl grew up together in Indiana and Shannon joined GN'R in the Don't Cry video. Shannon overdosed in 1995 and Axl took it hard.
