Fire resistance potions mean you can swim in lava. It's slow progress but you can travel across great lava lakes or build a under lava base now potions are in the game.

Fire Resistance, doesn't have a level II or III as it's basically just a switch, you either have fire Resistance, or you don't. You can even swim in lava while that potion is active.

If you can silk touch an ice block, you can take it into the nether and melt it. It'll turn into flowing water. Careful though; if you place it in the wrong spot, you can grab it with a bucket, but you can't replace it. You need to use another ice cube.

a little tip for your melon farm. the stalks for the melons can spawn a melon on any of the four surrounding squares IF they are clear. that means that you can take a few of the stalks that are next to each other and take them down to clear room for melons to grow.

uptime is redstone, upstrength is glowdust. uptime basically doubles (or so) the duration. Upstrength reduces the time but increase the strength. EG: a swift potion (sugar potion) with redstone lasts about 8 mins in opposition to standard 3 I think it was. and upping the strength makes it more potent but instead it lasts a min and 30. so it depends what you like. high powered buffs for less or lesser buffs for more.

For potions, your first ingrediant sets which group of potions you'll make, your second ingrediant is the effect (ex: glistening melon = health, sugar = speed), and tertiary modifies the potion (ex: if I remember correctly, the most common is glowstone, which I think increases time but decreases power, and redstone which has the opposite effect, however there are a few more)(also, I'm pretty sure fementated spider eye (spider eye + sugar) is key for the more negative-sided potions)

@dsettleascii the spawner is on the same level as him, he uses a water ladder specifically designed for mobs to lift them up and store them outside of the spawners detection range so it keeps spawning unlimited amounts of mobs. Then it lets them drop down reducing their health to an inch of their life, allowing for easy killing and XP gathering.

I enchanted my chest armor with fire resistance lvl 3, went into the nether with a load of rotten flesh and a diamond sword and went to town on a blaze spawner. Blazes set you on fire, but can't do more direct damage by hitting you more than once.

As long as your careful not to get swarmed or not to step into flames on the ground they really can't hurt you very much. Fire in the nether doesn't actually last as long as fire in the normal world, and thus you can easily heal through it as well.

I installed a mod called Better Enchanting 1.1.1

It allows you to spend your points on the enchantments you want due to a simple interface. Its balanced according to the same rules as the vanilla enchantment system but at least you won't spend your 50 levels on a bane of the antropods III enchantment.

Hey Coe! if you want to actually see what enchantment before you spend your exp. try the mod called "enchantview", it works and you don't have to worry about getting a crummy echantment that costs alot of exp. but if you want to keep your minecraft vannilla, i understand.
