I'd have to say that I disagree because "There is no proof" is a demonstrable falsehood, there is proof for God, and the bible's validity, and this proof abounds in historical documents and archaeological findings. That seems like a stretch. The King James version says kill and NIV says murder. That leads me to believe that they translated the same word as both kill and murder, so how can you differentiate? I would think that the inspired word of god would be clearer than that.

The point is I went to church, learned about god, believed in him, prayed to him, and after all those years I never had any sort of confirmation of my beliefs. He didn't speak to me or reveal himself or answer my prayers. I never felt his presence. There was no difference when I stopped going to church.

Although I do see it on the news (but I'm not saying that ALL Christians are like this, in fact I have many Christian friends who strongly believe in God, yet have no hate towards ANY other beliefs) many of the people I deal with in Kansas are racist, discriminant, and ignorant towards anything..."different" to them and are strong Christians.

I once saw (in Salem, MA, no less) a huge group of people holding signs and shouting about how the world is going to end and that how we're all going to hell and that crap. I have a feeling that I haven't seen the worst of it, but those people were complete lunatics! Maybe this is why we have as many terrorists as we do today. It's sad what religion can do to someone.

That seems like a stretch. The King James version says kill and NIV says murder. That leads me to believe that they translated the same word as both kill and murder, so how can you differentiate? I would think that the inspired word of god would be clearer than that.

Yea, thats why I said translated in my last post. My point is, once again, that in all likelihood kill and murder were translated from the same hebrew word. So what justification do you have for interpreting the same word two different ways in two different places?
Besides, it should be obvious that the whole book is a contradiction: it simultaneously preaches love and teaches hate and intolerance. God acts as childish and primitive as the people who wrote it (coincidence?).

Actually, I actually did go to church, like I said I did. Obviously we have free will to think what we want. The point is I went to church, learned about god, believed in him, prayed to him, and after all those years I never had any sort of confirmation of my beliefs. He didn't speak to me or reveal himself or answer my prayers. I never felt his presence. There was no difference when I stopped going to church.

Your arguments are not convincing (good thing I was already convinced). Concentrate more on what groups do, rather than individuals. Look at the camera more. What I heard most was an argument that our justice system is flawed. Unlike you and I, almost all religious people seem able to lie to themselves. If they really believed, they would be automatons, living only for God, welcoming death. Instead, they are human. Get to know a few.

The dangers from Islam stem from the organized zealots, and those individuals who are inspired by their Imams to do violence. Rightly rebuked. Sorry. My other point, that I do care about, is your derision of religious people who you claim take all their ideas from sacred texts. Happily, most religious people do not do this. They play crazy mind games that allow them to blend their community's beliefs, their own, and the conflicting messages of their sacred texts. Strangely, this usually works out OK. But it also provides an environment for fundamentalists who believe anything is OK so long as their God is promoted.
