The government can recover a hard drive that is true-crypted twice, written with random data 10 times, ran through an MRI for 24 hours, melted and cast into the shape of Hot-Wheels cars and finally ground down and eaten in gel-caps by Hare Krishnas. The government can even un-fry eggs. But alas, we mere civilians get one click of death and we are SOL.
Seagate's suck!!!! i like wd's better . they last longer. and intel ssds suck and over! heat and cnt run an operating system for a year with out corrupting shit!. ssd's get alztimers after a while basically. they have LIMITED amount of times your can save shit and delete shit on it . retarded . i love my hard drive . its wd blue 500 gb. ;] so idgaf
Hi, I have an SATA hard drive (Maxtor) and a second SATA hard drive, but the connection to the motherboard is different from each other. Do I need a converter? Please Help. I would also like to buy a new hard drive (SATA) how would I know if the connection to the motherboard is the same?? Please Help
Whats with all the newer Seagates breaking down... Me and my friends all had one or 2 seagates in our pcs in the past, not even one of them failed, sure they were noisy but. Running all WD now, silent and cool, they are my new 1:st choice at all times. And no i dont work at WD.
Yea i saw that a while after i made a comment here, that would explain a lot. U dont happen to know When they took over the manufacturing of their harddrives, and what models i should avoid?
steelp32: You need to purchase a T Series screwdriver. However, once you do this, it is unlikely to be able to function normally thereafter because dust and additional air will rush in with no cover. Plus, there is then a much heightened risk of a head crash if the heads catch dust particles.
if you get any dust on the disk (at all) then its fucked. So good luck with that. When they do disk recoveries (transplant the disks to another hdd case) they usually do it in a clean room.
i got a 500 gig maxtor drive like an idiot and i got on the saturday at 2:30 in the afternoon and was broke by 10:00 on sunday morning - dont buy one they are a piece of shit and break to easy
@draculapw That's because Seagate bough Maxtor a few years ago.... some of the Seagate drives today are now manufactured by Maxtor, wich explains why Seagate drives has started to fail more often than they used to.
Seagates are the worst hard drives I've owned. I've had 3 seagates for only a year and they both crashed within 4 months of eachother... I've had 5 WD hdds last for well over 5 or 6 years...
thats the kind of problem i have on mine as well it makes that beeping noise

This I think is the one type of hard drive failure that even the pros can't retrieve your data from.
Basically one or more heads actually came in contact with the platter and scratched off the magnetic coating. The data is physically destroyed.
Normally, the heads float just above the platters and never actually touch.

if you've opened your drive, forget about ALL the files on it. in a few days they will be corrupted.
