How most Whippets play... much to the chagrin of others

Whippets and cats can get along just fine together, depending on the individual Whippet's temperament and previous exposure to cats. A few Whippets cannot be trusted around any small animal pets because they can't overcome their instincts to regard those smaller pets as "prey" but MANY Whippets (especially those raised around kittens and cats) will respect an indoor house cat as a member of the family. Make sure whomever you work with as your future Whippet's breeder knows you have a cat.

Really sweet! Can I ask how they get along with cats? We are thinking of getting a whippet but have heard mixed reviews regarding how they get along with other pets (we have an older, indoor only cat).

@mintchip01 I have a whippet , Italian grey hound, poodle, 2 cats and a triton. By far the IG is the worst with cats constantly giving them a hard time. Other whippet owners, all said the same thing, whippets fine, IGs suck with other furry little creatures. Whippets are fine after 12-18 months. Just be careful when feeding the whippet. If any cat is around, they will chase anything out of excitement. After 18 months, most whippets just sleep 20 hours a day LOL

@Uridien I laughed out loud when it got to that part. I was going to post that that was the best part of the video. My whippet was staring at me like that tonight and I said, "Will you stop staring at me?" Sometimes I think they are trying to psychically communicate when they do that. The two mouth wrestlers are pretty quiet about it.  My whippet plays hard with my standard poodle and he's very loud w/the ahrrrr noises. Must be part pirate.
