Vivian Stanshall is also a made up name. The man's real name is William Sheppard. He is Sgt. Pepper. He was the leader of the Beatles since he entered the band after Paul's death in '66 beginning with his 1st album Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band. He orchestrated everything
Take a look at Vivian Stanshall of the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band. Listen to the song Death Cab for Cutie (the clip from the Beatles movie Magical Mystery Tour) Do you notice any references in that song to paul dying in a car crash? Listen to what John says at the end of the performance whilst clapping. Sounds like he's congratulating Paul for a good performance. But Paul is nowhere in plain sight. Vivian Stanshall is Paul Mccartney. I know Viv S. died in '95. Don't be so naive
Even if it is secretly Billy Cambell who's put out those awesome songs like Band On The Run or Coming Up, I may at first be devastated, but will not throw out any of my Billy Campbell and Wings albums, b/c they're too good! Haha!
I hate when people say Paul is not dead or he is dead, because to tell anybody the truth, the only people who know this conspiracy are the Beatles PERIOD
@davidioanfan Paul's eyes have always been hazel with a greenish hue, never brown. He's even quoted in an early interview saying his eyes are hazel, BEFORE the alleged crash/death.....
Or perhaps the song is simply referring to the hoax, the joke that the Beatles put together. Remember, the Beatles did not tour. They were not on TV much anymore. They needed publicity in new ways. "Paul Is Dead" is a great early example of viral marketing.
@davidioanfan you cant really believe what you are saying this song sir paul was supposed to have inadvertantly contributed to the paul is dead hoax rumours your time would be better spent delveing into terry knights death.
Just can't understand why this song, and the innuendo aside, didn't get more air and play time. Its better than 99.9% of the crap their trying to force on the public today. Lady goo-goo Ga-ga. Come on.
@ImOutlawXXX You have not looked at all the facts lad. Start with how on Dec.30,1996 'Paul' was knighted by the Queen. Only ONE problem with that. All 4 Beatles were knighted ALREADY back in their early years and any fool knows YOU DON'T EVER GET KNIGHTED TWICE. So before you go off on the question of being a 'Beatles fan',answer this one little item of 'Paul' being knighted twice. Oh yes,and this whole coverup was done with MI6 help,FYI. Sorry if this upsets you ole chap.
The Beatles were not knighted by the Queen they received an M.B.E (Member of the British Empire) so Paul was the ONLY Beatle to receive a knighthood. ONCE.
I think Knight was paid to record this song. It would explain why it was published by Maclen & why there was a cancelled check from "McCartney" to Knight.
@Ramram131 Indeed. I guess no one (or not too many) ever noticed how 'Paul' was knighted by the Queen back in Dec.of 1996. The only problem was that all 4 Beatles were already knighted by the Queen in their early years and you NEVER get knighted twice. British Intell. was involved from the very beginning with this of course.
Originally recorded on Capitol while Terry Knight was doing artist and repitiore ror Capitol and did get moderate air play when the Paul is dead /billy shears death rumor came out.
Proof that the drugs in the sixties finally took their toll. There were those of us who believed in this crapola. People read it, believed it, and got so strung out it became fact for them. It show how if you don't stand for something you'll believe anything. Just like Congrss and the Democratic party of today. Where were they 40 years ago? Buying into this and getting anybody who'll listen believing it. Democrates want change. Yea, change your beliefs. Frickin morons.
Paul & the Beatles...always a yes to them for peace, love, understanding. This song was about a hoax....thats all it was.Yay Paul...and a yay to all the Beatles....& all their fans.
Its such a great song, such feeling, beautiful....5 stars.Terry Knight created a a song that ought to be remembered..i think this was from 1969.Thanks sellway.
The first and last ones you mention loom large in Paul's legend. I was talking about the first one, though. The last one I'm sure iamaphoney talks about a lot.
All true. Also, Iamaphoney doesn't talk a lot about Linda, I think, yet it's one of the most present and important person in Paul's life (whoever-it-is's life, if you want).
I'm faaaaaar from being an Iamaphoney's "fan" or follower. Those flashing images get me on me nerves, too much bizarre effects when the original images are in fact pretty normal, and I'm not a PID-er anyway :) but yeah, I watched some of his Rotten Apples and MJ was never mentionned. Should that be strange?
Bill was a Beatles from 1967 until they broke up.Why would he form his own band if he could join THE BEATLES ???? I know which option I WOULD CHOOSE !!!!
James Paul McCartney was so brilliant. His legacy has been sullied by Faux Paul/Bill. That guy could never fill Paul's shoes. That's why his solo career has been so weak. He simply doesn't have JPM's talent. It is time for the Truth to come out about what happened to JPM & who Faul is (William Campbell from Ontario?)
Billy boy was the guy who did Sgt. Pepper, Magical Mystery Tour, etc. The real Paul would never have done any of that - I prefer the Beatles with Billy to the original Beatles with Paul.
Bill just took Paul's songs & sang them. I don't think he contributed much that was original, if anything. His solo work has been pretty weak, imo. But, everyone is entitled to their opinion. I think Paul was a genius.
I agree, it's a matter of opinion. But, you know, I think that with "Faul", the band just spread all out, and went in all directions, and it had all begun with Rubber Soul. And "Faul" did come up with some sensational songs, perfect pop: For No One/Here There and Everywhere, the great Come and Get It, Junk which he played with John during the Get Back sessions, and little pop gems, that's without talking about the "experimental/rock'n roll" side of his talent.
Faul didn't come onto the scene until mid to late 1966. Please don't credit Revolver songs to him. He doesn't have the talent to come up w/ something like "For No One" or "Eleanor Rigby." Faul is in the "Another Day" category... Ok, but not a brilliant genius like Paul.
Well, it's right that there's been a lot of crappy songs in Paul's solo career. (Faul's career for you, yeah). But, I'd assert that you still can find the "print" of a great composer through some of his records. The Back Seat Of My Car, Maybe I'm Amazed, My Love, I'm Carrying, Did We Meet Somewhere Before?, Seems Like Old Times, Same Time Next Year... These are great songs (also a sort of "hint" to For No One in English Tea, but the melody still isn't as powerful, I Have to admit :))
He doesn't have the talent to come up w/ something like "For No One" or "Eleanor Rigby
But he DOES have the talent to come up with Sgt. Pepper , Magical Mystery Tour, his songs on the 'WHITE' album, Abbey Road, etc. He not only took over Paul's identity, he took over the Beatles themselves - John even said that !! Pepper was HIS idea, not John's. The walrus was PAUL.
why did the beatles buy the song saint paul to stop it from coming to attention, when Paul wasn't dead? Paul is dead, that's the only clue. The beatles were abnormaly pissed when saint paul came out.
Also, Terry was attributed, by some, of starting the"Paul is Dead" rumor. I can understand why. It is a hauntingly, lovely and a kinda of a catchy tune, don't ya think. I love the song and have looked for a copy for years since my 45's got to scratchy to play. Thank you Sellway for putting it on the air. You're a good person.
Some people need to do some homework! This song was written by Terry Knight after he had met Paul in Detroit. Paul then called Terry to come to London. They had lunch with Linda, Twiggy, Roger Moore, and Peter Sellers. They then went to the studio to record some more of the White Album when Ringo walked out. Anyway, on the way back to the states he penned the song Saint Paul.
This record is often mistakenly identified as a cash-in on all the "Paul Is Dead" nonsense. It actually came out in the earlier part of 1969 (while "Hey Jude" was still fresh in everyone's mind's) several months before Abbey Road. However, I wouldn't be surprised if the folks at Capitol tried giving it another push at the end of the year, for obvious reasons.
"Although his (Knight's) version failed to rise above Billboard's Hot 100, the song provided New Zealand singer Shane the best-selling single of the 1960s in his native land."
I like this song and can't believe I haven't heard it before! But is it possible for you to post the lyrics, specifically the ones that appear after the words 'while you and Sgt. Pepper saw the writing on the wall"? I can't figure out some of those words. Thank you!
