i read Lord Brocktree when i was in grade three. before that, reading was hell to me. now i've got my nose in a book until two in the morning. i cried when i found out he died. RIP.
I love this man. It's been awhile since I've read the books, but when I was younger there were practically all I read. When I heard he had died I broke down crying.
I love how he creates characters right on the spot in front of all the people. He still makes me laugh after all these years.
Brian Jacques inspired me to write and now I'm in college majoring in it.
RIP Mr. Jacques. You will most certainly be missed.
His words on imagination from 7:37 -- 8:09 make me tear up... nobody has EVER used their imagination quite like he did. Thanks, Mr. Jacques, for sharing.
We have lost a treasured author!! Brian, you may be gone, but shall never be forgot!! Your wonderful work about animals and their fight for peace and comedic escapades have made many people's lives a little or a lot brighter, and shall continue to be treasured and brighten others as you have brighten ours!
i've met him and seen him talk a few times. pretty much same routine and jokes, but he's still a hilarious delight. and he was a standup comedian among many other things, so no wonder he's so funny and good at what he does.
I went to a signing with Jacques waaaay back in 1999, when the Redwall series was my life. It's so great to see that he hasn't changed a bit since; it's crazy that an author in his 70s can be so much more enthusiastic than most of the others much younger than him.
oh man, i wish i could meet him, i love the book he wrote (Redwall) i even listened to the audiobook version of it and it made the book even more awesome XDD
Love Brian Jacques. One of the greatest writers ever and definetly an inspiration to me. One of the things he has taught me is never understimate children or your audience. They are very intelligent people and will be a lot happier reading your books if they were to be considered intelligent. He writes realistically and with a wit and seriousness. I've had many a happy time reading his books. Must have been fantastic to actually write them!
I totally agree with you, This man was a complete inspiration to me and has even inspired me to write my own based on the same animal fantasy genre. Ive had a great time reading his books to, as for writing them. Well, if he's anything like me, he had his moments that he loved to write about and moments were he writes to get to the parts were he loves to write about. Like forwarding to the favorite part of a movie
I started reading his books at the age of 13 or so. I'm 22 now and I still read them. It would be a pleasure just to meet him, but to go to his house! I'd feel like I was 8 on granpa's lap, and not afraid to say so ;).
Haha! It's nice someone uploaded this, so now I get to re-live the experience twice (I was there, don't remember your though). I've got to tell you, my expectations of the guy were high, and I still under-estimated his comedic tendencies and vitality! Great job BJ, I hope he'll come down south again for another visit soon... maybe a little further southeast :)

One of the most imaginative authors from my childhood, certainly the one who sparked my interest in books fo the most part.
He had an exciting life, and he will be missed for the happiness he brought to so many.
