Brandsma,is a very devoted musician that captures the feeling that should "be" with this Jazz music, this music is joy and happyness, this trio understands completely the Art to bring a message to an Audiance that's receptive,Victor.
Great that you recognise that. Adding a bit vibrato to a tone is not that hard, but to really control it in every aspect is hard work. I'm 42 now and still practicing it every day I play.
I sent you several transcriptions of Hodges, and one of Freddy Gardner and one of Jimmie Dorsey. Let me know if you received them, if not I will resend. Keep up the fabulous music. Leebm29 at yahoo
Hi again Bert: I don't know about that, but you sure have his flavor. I have a few of Hodges written solos that I could Email you if you are interested. Ellington once said that occasionally when Hodges played a ballad, it brought tears to his eyes! One of these days I hope you will play Ted Weems 'Heartaches'....He plays it on the Bb clarinet about a fifth lower than written. It would also be great on your bass sax Leebm29 at yahoo dot com
Oh yes, I'm certainly interested in Hodges solo's written out. If you could do that I would be very gratefull. You have my Emailadress, so you are very welcome to send it.
Originally sung by Billy Holliday, who never visited this city in her life by the way, in the movie: New Orleans. Also starring Louis Armstrong and Kid Ory.
Sorry for the spelling error : Billie Holiday forgive me!
And don't forget to check out Barney Bigard in film fragments of New Orleans. He was clarinet soloist with Duke Ellington and is a special favourite of mine.
can you please add some more?
normally i only listen to rap and hiphop but i have to say in the evenings for relaxing this is just perfect!
love it hope you add some more :D

Nice saxophone work. The treatment reminded me a bit of Johnny Hodges, the great alto player in Ellington's band

Hodges is exactly what I had in mind while playinf this. I doubt if he ever played this one. If somebody knows more about this I'd be glad to learn.
Kind Regards, Bert
