  • This proves a very important point about Beethoven; Beethoven was foremost and primarily a SYMPHONIST.

    A Beethoven piano sonata is merely something symphonic he didn't bother to orchestrate.

    Brahms, on the other hand, always sounds pianistic, even when it's something that is being played for an orchestra with him having written it that way.
