Nope. But the point is it's like paper so it doesn't strain the eyes like a laptop screen which is redrawn 60 times a second or so. The e-ink screen reflects light, a laptop screen emits light. Can always use an external light at night, maybe a clip-on like a book?
Also, a laptop screen is impossible to read in full daylight while an Eink screen behaves much more like paper. The screen doesn't have to compete to emit as much light as the sun. I don't know why people compare ereaders to reading on their cell phone, tiny screen and they emit light not reflect it.
I was hoping they'll come up with a decent portable document reader for ages. This seem like an interesting 1st-gen device, but I'd rather wait for more advanced (and cheaper) ones that'll support color and more formats, like .cbr etc. Too early.
Did you buy the device by mentioning my email address? And why on earth are you swearing at me when I didn't mention anything about it being anti piracy? Plus you are totally confused yourself and can't explain what youre saying. The item isn't drm protected, the only things that are protected are the EBOOKS! not the BEBOOK!The only drm format that BeBook accepts is Mobipocket, nothing else in DRM, but anything free you can put in there, also you can crack the device and why would you want to!
Anyone who tells you how to break the law is a moron. But, for the record, the BeBook will read *non-DRMed* files. So if your crappy warez aren't DRMed, you're in luck, aren't you?
Bad thing is that authors will get the same problem as musicians for copyrights, and they make even less money already than musicians. I mean... I might be very tempted to download all my obligatory books and novels off the internet for free, seeing how expensive it is for me...
well... a solution will have to be found real soon for this copyrights issue, and the i-tune type programs really isn't one...
does this support pdf files. like can i just load the pdf files on to this device easily? thank you to whoever answers!

so can i read this thing in the dark without carrying a flashlight?
Mario009c 2 years ago
@Mario009c If it's E-Ink, you can't, you'll need a booklight for anything which uses E-Ink. E-Ink isn't backlit. It's like an etch-a-sketch. :D

I want to see examples of how it shows pictures, gray scales, figures, which is quite important if you read scientific documents or news.

No, it needs an external light, just like a regular book. So chances are, you have those available if you read paper books on a regular basis ;)

no. it's only suppose to be read, just like a paper version.

I think it would help if we could actually see the device screen when the features are being demoed.

For EUR 100 would be affordable for me. 400 it's much too much. Well I'll have to wait...
SD slot + HDD-like PC connection makes it very interesting bookware.
