  • I wonder how people ended up taping prevue guide. By accident? Were you taping something else and you forgot and switched to it? I wouldn't have thought to tape it intentionally, unless I KNEW it was going away- for this very reason the nostalgia value.

  • I have an earworm like that since I listened to that; I was humming that in private for years trying to look for the names of the song and it's artist. I wish there's an MP3 version of this beautiful song.

  • @dafranx I think it pretty good too, but you think it's that good, you want the MP3 of it? :)

  • @thesnare100 Oh Yeah! Give me the MP3 of it, so I can listen to ti blissfully on my iPod.

  • We Are Whats' On

  • 3:38 - Disk is 63x Full. ???

  • i would say its sad you all taped it, but yet i'm here feeling nostalgic and watching :P

  • Yep, the boring Sunday afternoons of putting on the PG to pass the time. Though the description of "cable barely alive" is a pretty incorrect; cable in-home began in the 70s and by the point of this vid (trailers would indicate Nov. 1991) it was a booming giant.

  • I think this crash was hilarious!!!

  • Not to many people were using Microsoft at the time.

  • @elkinsinbox they were using Amiga or Dos at the time. Prevue used Commodore Amiga (I'm unsure of what kickstart version)..

  • Nice to finally hear that entire theme song all the way through, in the clear...ahh, memories!

  • I hate these things on itv. So annoying.

  • Digital cable and satellite killed Prevue Guide (and even TV Guide channel).

  • Hey Ladybugs!!! I used to love that movie!! R.I.P. Rodney Dangerfield and Jonathan Brandis

  • This music is terribly addictive. I've been listening to it all night, and I'm STILL not satisfied. :-/

  • Does anybody know the name of this music. I really like it. I've tried Killer Tracks with no luck so I don't know where to begin

  • I used to own a Tyco Hot Keyz and i would play this song on the white keys and the organ on the black keys.

  • I love how it just starts throwing random times out there.

  • God...I miss the that theme song! Brings back childhood memories!

  • Darn, I had many tapings of the Prevue Channel from 1995 and either I taped over them or the tapes were damaged. I do have one segment from April 1995 where the channel was not working right and the music was playing. Then a commercial for the Psychic Friends Network with Dionne Warwick came on. Then the Prevue Tonight segment came on (with the second opening where the "city lights" pan down to the sunset and the logo "poofs" on the screen. I'll find it some day.

  • I miss Prevue Guide. Well, the old one before TV Guide bought out Prevue Networks.

I thought that I was the only one who used to tape Prevue Guide here and there. I have some on VHS but I don't know how to put it on the internet. Thank you for posting. Lobg Live Prevue Guide..LOL.

  • Send the Prevue tapes to me and I'd be happy to post them! -John

  • Do you mean by mail or email? Just asking.

  • mail, or course! He does not know how to do it!

  • I have found a way to post my PG vids. I now have a DVD Recorder and can rip them using AOA DVD Ripper. :-)

  • Man do I miss the old Prevue Guide. These old clips bring back great memories. I think what made it so awesome and entertaining was how low key it was. Now, unfortunately, we have the TV Guide channel which I think is WAY TOO flashy and star-struck for me.

  • God I remember this kind of stuff and I'm only 20!

  • This music was used in the intro to the Prevue Tonight segment even after the blue grid was introduced. I think it was used until early 1996. After 1993 I think the music played during the actual previews was different from the opening (this music).

  • The backround music here, was used on the Prevue Tonight segments.

  • I see Cannon Movie Tales Sleeping Beauty! BD The only thing I care about was the music and the advertisers.

  • Post more Prevue Guide/Prevue Channel stuff as of tomorrow morning.

  • We need to star thinking about make usable PG emulators for download!!! That's how good it was!!!

  • i wish they could emulate that...and better yet...they could come out with a linux version!...i loved how that thing would crash...i even searched online for the program so i could run it on winuae

  • You Forgot somthing.

  • This has no connection to TWC. Its a totally different system. I dont have it anymore since i lost it in 98. And BTW, I have never seen mine go out. I have a lot of good technology in my area. a 4000 non degraded that still lives on this day. lol

  • lol

  • LOL@ Survivor Series promo!

  • What's F4 and G1 before the channel numbers?

  • Prevue Channel used to feed raw this way to the various head-ends of cable companies throughout the USA in the early 90s. If you watched this on the C-Band satellite feed, the two screens on the top were always present (you would tune to 6.80 mhz for the audio on the left, 6.20 mhz for the right).

The F4 and G1 refered to the abbriviations of the various satellites (F4 was Satcom F4, G1 was Galaxy 1, etc.)

  • Does the smaller cable companys still use that version for the TV Guide Channel? The Preview Channel was renamed to what's now the TV Guide in 1999. By the way, is the program grid is made by the same company like the WeatherSTAR used on The Weather Channel to display the local forcast?

  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

  • YYYEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSS!!!

  • Usually when that happened on TCI or United Artist's cable back in the early 90's (I lived in Aurora, CO then) the Amiga Guru Meditation "error message" was seemingly superimposed over the top half of the screen over the promos.

  • I remember seeing the same thing with Prevue on my cable system here in Bismarck, ND (Bismarck-Mandan Cable TV then, now Midcontinent Communications), usually in the middle of the night (prolly because there was no headend techs around to reboot the Amiga running the Prevue Channel...! :) )

  • This is some very mesmerizing music. Where can one even find music like this? Prevue Guide must have been using some prehistoric software back in the day when this happend.

  • A better question would be: Remember when the Prevue Channel was kewl?

  • THE RED SCREEN OF DEATH! (No relation to Microsoft's blue screen of death.)

  • Actually, even Cable Prevue Guides had Satellite listings in their early days, having seen it myself in their early days around 1990-1992. On another note, I haven't seen the Prevue Guide/Channel like this in almost 15 years.

  • I love this show. I love this memories.

Good ol' times back in day!

  • Like noticing the end of this clip looks as if that was the satellite channel showing the numbers for the different satellites to tune to, rather than the local cable company type that would have the local channel numbers respectively, sounds like the satellite edition had a lot of breakdowns.

  • I miss the old Prevue Channel and the accompaying music too! It was always on the old Cable Co-Op when I first started living in Palo Alto.

  • Check out the old-school music.

  • can u please upload more prevue channel stuff

  • More is being added now! :)

  • I miss Prevue Guide & I have the same music on casette tape.

  • I had it. I used to watch the tape of prevue

guide, I love colors on the guide. It's good!

  • Thanks for uploading this clip. I really miss the Prevue Guide/Channel. Do you have any more?

  • Of course I do! :) Check out my other new videos!
