@sirwhite1994 you will stop if you keep doing push ups. If you do let say 10-20 a day and start to gain more muscle, the cracking will stop. Try to go beyond your limit. That always helps.
@samsonbenson12 you can't go beyond your limit. Thats why it is called limit. However, the angle to focus on is that most people are weak and struggle at composing themselves at half their limit. When you walk down the road next time check how many people you see smoking within a certain distance and compare that number to how many people you see jogging within 5 times the distance you find the smokers.

There is no anatomical reason why a women can't do a proper push-up. Fitness tests in the military now require fewer reps of the same push-up. It is purely cultural that women think they should use their knees.
@rockhard4eva you always look up in boot camp because you have to keep an eye on the drill instructor. otherwise you get your ass kicked (metaphorically of course, calm down ACLU).
@schmatever Pond life he may be but the lifting of the head open the front of the chest for breathing and keeps your body rigid. Lowering the head moves the centre of effort making each push-up easier and less effective. Try maxing-out head up and then next time max out head down and see the difference.
@MrDiddy1993 alright i will give it a try then... im sure it does make the pushup more effective but neck injuries will put you out of action for weeks and are very painful... worth considering!
@schmatever Yeah I can see where your coming from. I don't weight train so I am not massive, pretty toned though for a 16 year old though : ). I am trying to join the RAF so I train very specifically for press-up, sit-up and running. For a big person, especially with large traps, pulling the neck back may do damage. But for me, and a lot of people, head-up is the best way. Despite that it's against RAF rules to do it another way. I'm on 53 in a minute now after 1.5m run :D. Good luck training.

@Spike00513z by your own admission it places pressure on the back of the neck. the pushup is not intended to work the neck, its intended to work the upper pecs. since you struggle even to address people in a civillised way using "what the fuck" as your main way of communicating, its quite possible that pondlife like you might not be able to communicate or understand in a normal way.
