hey what ever happened to this going in the ratrod? i just watched this agai n and you were actually going to sell off the cad motor..hahaha things do change dont they? those cad motors have so much torque
@doberfag Yea, the flathead turned out to be a whole project by itself, meanwhile the Caddy cranked and growled and rumbled and purred at me and I was stricken.
Rats! I thought I was about to enjoy a "nostalgia wallow" when I spotted this video but now see it was done some time ago and that you`ve stuck with the Caddie. "She Who Must be Obeyed" is all bent out of shape now, as she puts it, I`ve discovered yet another YouTube "time suck".
the old timers used to use 1950 olds manual bellhousings and run lesalle trans or caddy trans, but you stated you have a manual lesalle? if so thats a badass setup!
I'm trying to acquire a Olds bellhousing.. I've actually bought one off ebay that's been adapted to a Saginaw 4 speed, but the seller isn't responding to any of my attempts to get in touch, now that I've purchased it, so I'm not counting my chickens till it gets here.
I cant find any info ion the internet but there used to be a b&m kit to run a th350 or th400 behind a clutch with no torque converter. also I once read an article on how to install the switch pitch setup from a buick 300 into a th400 but i can't find it however it can be done. I don't know how close caddy was to pontiac but 55-57 gmc's had the old pontiacs with the sae belhousing in from the factory
did you ever have the caddy motor running? Wow that would of been a cool motor for my willys ahh well. I am sure you know all about working on a budget and how that can kill cool ideas.
The Cadi was running when it was taken out of the car it came in from the factory, a couple of years ago. Still turns free, and I can't see any reason why it wouldn't fire up. I'm thinking of doing just that. Firing it up in October, when my boy gets up here. If I can't get the flathead unstuck, maybe I'll figure out how to put the old flathead truck transmission behind the Cadi, and go from there. We'll see how it goes..
Now know how to paint ugly furniture, dismantle & repair rusty lovebuckets, engines & banjo gascans (I'd give up wearing lipstick fer one of 'em), how to drive in lumpy snow & kayak on smooth waters, how to cut down big trees (sorry to read about your Dad) replant barns & where to put socks. Closer to understanding how to have love affairs with sad-arse hunks of rusty metal. Gotta give up watchin' your antics, or learnin' the banjo! Can't do both. Nah! Keep posting! I'll learn Wayfaring somehow.
Yeah, well, I suppose you might have a point there...and I'll reconsider! But then again - the same might be said of a gas-can banjo. You sure had a spell over me when you played that thing!
Just came in to cool off and I find this video. Too cool!! Say Hi to Trish for Kate and me. If anyone says you & I have all growed-up, I'm denying it. Thanks for the hospitality this past weekend. (GREAT TIME)

I wouldn't give up your lipstick if I was you. That stuff has magical powers for them that knows how to use it.
