  • I never knew this was OPM! The singers sound so American, complete with the accent.

  • it was 1993 when i appreciate this song... my husband went to japan, that was the first time we separate our ways.. and it hurts me a lot...but thank god.. were still together...

  • ...is catching a flight.

  • never knew this is an OPM song until now ... so proud to be pinoy ...

  • its noli de castro the one calling the passenger trivia

  • @evangeline7887 is he?

  • @evangeline7887 ...really, wow!!! ha.ha.. i hope he still remember this..

  • first time I heard this song is back in 1979 or 1980 in Manila. Nothing to do about leaving the Philippines but lots of memories though :)

  • i love this song not knowing that it was composed and sang by a filipino.i've heard this song played in my car from an fm station where we're heading to NAIA with my fiancee and was about to leave for los angeles last year 2008.sad to say that was the last time i've seen her....i wish her a good life though she hurt me that much.

  • I was in the same situation when i first left Manila, right ther at the NAIA. My family including my mother was there sending me off. I cried a lot. That was the first I left the Philippines, let alone, leave my family whom I love so much. Little that I know that will also be the last time I will see my mother alive. She died 9 months after. The worst of it all, I wasn't able to go back to attend her funeral, so I just asked my family back home to video tape the proceedings.

  • i wonder why i like this song. it's so sad. the comment of marist83usa made the song even more touching. i like the voice over and also the announcer calling all passengers to board the plane (who is he). to dan henry congratulations. I prefer this song than 20 minutes after take off. (it's nice too)

  • This song stuck to my mind since I was a teener, never did I imagine myself leaving the country, and leaving somebody behind... it's painful and heartbreaking, nakaka iyak pala talaga ung nasa airport ka na then you're saying your goodbyes sa mga taong mahal mo... Thanks for posting this wonderful song, truly a blast from the past!!!

  • brings back a lot of good and happy memories ... :)

  • reminds me of sum1 i use to know.., sum1 from the past who i will always miss..,

  • this song makes me cry :(

  • Have always loved this song, sounds like an international recording (same with enveloped ideas of the dawn) but this has special meaning for us children of the 80's. And yes, I've always remembered Bessie Badilla as the voice over. Marist, Bessie is an international fashion model and was a Paris-based House of Balenciaga model during those years.

  • It doesn't seem that long.Bittersweet...Thanks for posting.

  • it reminds me of my teens, love this song...thanks for posting..

  • I thought this was from a foreign band.

  • This is a sad story of my past, 1986 I was at the NAIA that's the last time I saw my grirlfriend again... every word in this lyrics remind me of that momentous day.

  • Maraming nakakamiss kay Henry sa Teresa sa Sta. Mesa ... may mga naiiyak pa nga when I post this on my FB... to Sir Dan Samonte sana nga matuloy ang revival nito and some of your compositions also... dito ako lumaki sa Teresa at and this song, your song will always be a part of me... Bong Arguelles

  • Great song from two great artist Dan Samonte and Henry Toribio's legacy really lives on with this song. We were neighbors with Henry madalas din sya sa bahay dahil barkada sya ng mga utol ko and I think he was also the pianist at our parish. When I sing this song in school or even nung nagtratrabaho na ko ayaw nilang maniwala na pinoy ang kumanta nito. Pati dito sa Dubai akala nila foreigner. Akala nila si Don Henley ng Eagles... But I am very proud of this song and Dan and Henry.

  • Akala ko Apo ang kumanta niyan.

  • ang ganda kanta akala ko nong highschool pako foreigner kumanta, pang international na kanta

  • Nice Song... Pinoy Rules

  • i love this song..so touching..i miss my husband..

  • I really love this song. I thought this was composed & sung by a foreign artist. FILIPINO pl. WOW! Proud to be a Pinoy! Thanks for uploading and thank you Dan Samonte & Henry Toribio for this wonderful song.

  • sarap pakinggan....

  • today is a blessing for me. I heard Aunt' Irma's After CHristmas Song. And this - wow.

  • wow

  • i really love this song.i always recall when get 2gether ng mga dabarkadz..with henry toribio.and we miss him very much...see u soon henry..but not now huh...heheheheh we love u henry..and regards 2 mr,danny samonte..and god bless you! more power sa rj1oo...

  • This song touches my HEART and my SOUL.

  • Wow! What is this? You people are too dramatic.

WAKE UP AND GET INTO REALITY! GET A LIFE!

  • Hi Marist83USA,thank u 4 posting this song.I still remember the date(Oct.28,1987)when I left Phillippines 2 come here in USA,CA.,i left a gf at that time, she even told me at that time that she will wait 4 me.But after only 3 months of writing w/each other ,she stopped writing. So when i made a long distance call 2 her,she told me that she already got married.Anyways, thank u again 4 posting this song.Mabuhay kayo!!!!!

  • I really love this song very much, I always recall when my love one left for her hometown in Salt Lake City, Utah, she was a return missionary of the mormon church, I kiss her on the cheek before she left, that was in the year 1980, three decades age.. Her name was Moana Newland from Bountiful, Utah. I hope she will be able to read this message of mine or anyone who knows her tell her that I really love her very much..We were not able to meet since then.

    Nelson A. Juco

  • for you..

  • Mr. Samonte can you please re-issue this song. Sana lang makakuha k nang magaling na OPM artist pero the original is the best so maybe just try to have it in digital mastering. Iba kasi ang dating ng original.

  • i love the song.... many people can relate to this song...

  • oh,,i so much love this song,,i still cry when i play this and start to reminisce all the happy memories between me and my loved once before,,,he left for a work in dubai,,almost leaving a promise every split of seconds,,its been 20 minutes when he arrive,,and it hurts me more when he kissed me goodbye,,,now the promise he made was vanish and he said he'd marry a lady whom he meet in,,its painfull but hope to see him soon,,i still care for you "melbert navarro",,and i'll wait for you forever,,,

  • Hi Marist83USA,

Thanks for posting....Blast from the past. I did the voice over for this recording....can't believe it's been decades ago!

    Cheers,

    Bessie Badilla

  • @IndiFilmFanatic Wow, you must be proud to have been part of this mega-hit song.

You should be receiving royalties for your part. Your voice-over gave the song a heart. Were you in showbiz or did you work for a radio station? The name Bessie Badilla sounds familiar. I noticed you're also based in the US. Salamat & Mabuhay!

  • @Marist83USA I'm actually THRILLED because it's been 30 years since that song was recorded. I wonder if I can still sound "sweet" now. Haha! Yes, I'm in the East Coast. I've been based here for the last 20 years after I retired from television and working in the fashion industry. Mabuhay!

  • @Marist83USA Bessie Badilla was a top international fashion model and a filipina actress wayback in the 80's.

  • @Marist83USA Bessie Badilla is one of the famous fashion models in the Philippines (circa 80's) and my favorite. She is not your typical mestiza type but she has that stunning look and exudes a lot of confidence.

  • @Marist83USA ..hello

just wanna comment about Ms Bessie Badilla...She was a known Ramp Model and an Actress in the 80's....right Ms Bessie?...

  • @IndiFilmFanatic your voice-over made this hit song in the 80's more meaningful... i LOVE this song...

  • @gelovalladolid Hey, thank you very much! It's nice to know (after some 30 years!) how you feel about the song and my voiceover, haha! I'm smiling right now.

  • @IndiFilmFanatic i really love this song...and i like bessie badilla...so pretty and natural...thank you for posting it --marist8USA..thank you..!!!

  • @merian65 Thank you! BB

    ...

The joint savings account for our wedding day....

  • We all thought Dan Henry was a foreign artist or a foreign band that made this song. The melody is certainly different from the ones that were made in the Philippines at that time or any other time before or since. Great song.

  • i love this song.the lyrics and melody wonderfull.narration and voice over gave the song an added appeal.pls mr samonte release it again.

  • i remember this song very well. it was the time that my siblings for good for the US. i was a fan of mr. samonte ( d amazing bionic man ) and other dj's of dzbm ( AM radio back then). they were my inspirations of becoming a dj someday. i also remember winning a supposed to be kiss concert ticket but instead got a kiss army kit from discorporation.

  • what a song! i remember someone!

  • para!! i balik mo ako sa pilipinas!!! boohoooo!! lol

  • sana patugtugin uli itong song sa airport.

  • i remember when my uncle was leaving for Saudi in 1980 and my dad was leaving for Iraq in 1983,this song was being played at Manila International Airport (now NAIA).i won't forget this song and i want to thank Danee Samonte and Henry Toribio for writing this.I'm proud of u,guys!

  • i think the sound of the plane's engine taking off at 2:47 gave this great song the finishing touches, as it accentuates the main idea of the song... i am totally engrossed when i hear the plane's engine roaring......great composition DAN HENRY!

  • Wow! Thanks. Brings back good ol Pinas days growing in Sampaloc.. Heard this played a lot @ DZRJ.

  • Touch nmn ako sa kanta na to! nkkalungkot kc, naalala ko everytime paalis ako tlgang sobrang lungkot at sobrang sakit sa loob ang umalis at iwan ang mga mahal sa buhay...the song is great! nkakatouch...nakakalungkot! huhuhu....ang hirap tlgang magtrabaho sa abroad! malayo sa pamilya...

  • Hi Rachel, It was this pain you were talking about that gave me the inspiration to write the song. I saw it in the face of one OFW who had to leave the love of her life in search of greener pastures.

  • Tnx for a nice reply on my comment, i appreciate it...the song is really touching...i really like this song since i was young but i appreciate it more now that i am already an ofw...tnx for sharing this song here in you tube...

  • i was really thinking this was a foreign song galing talaga

  • WOW !!

  • Dan Henry doesn't sound like a Pinoy name, was it a band's name?

  • Dan Henry was a Filipino singing duo. Please refer to my description on your right. Thanks for watching.

  • if i remember it right both dan and henry were disc jokeys in the late 70's or early 80's here in manila, the philippines. they are two distinct person.

  • Dan Henry stood for DAN (Samonte) & HENRY (Toribio)

  • wow i thought this song sang by a foreign group

  • I LOVE THIS SONG very much. it reminds me of the past. thanks for Marist83USA who brought back this music...........

  • been a long time didnt hear this music ,what a homesick.i used to watch them w/ the the royal flush in phil. plaza.

  • nice one...brings back memories of yesteryears

  • This song becomes very very popular in Philippines untill this date.

  • Henry, Lito and Restie together with their sister Emma were playing in different bands during the 60's, 70's and 80s. Lito was the drummer for Jose Mari's electromaniacs. Restie my father was a great piano player and aranger. Their father, Tomas , was the band leader for Tom Toribio's Orchestra .

  • Hi everyone,I'm JT and I'm the nephew of one the writers of the song, Henry Toribio. He worte this song , as well as other Dan henry songs with, danee samonte. Henry died about twenty years ago, of a stroke.Henry also played the keyboards and bass parts on most their songs. He is the brother of premier drummer Lito Toribio and Pianist Restie Toribio. Henry and Lito were the driving forces of the band called Sangkatutak and Royal Flush.

  • some trivia...

Around the late '70's, PAL did not have Boeing 747's in its fleet yet. Long haul flights to San Francisco or Honolulu were flown on wide-bodied Mcdonnel Douglas DC-10's, hence the line in the lyrics "The big DC-10 takes you on a journey..."

  • filipino sang this song

  • a beautiful song ...

  • Thanks Danee for answering my query. God bless you and thanks a lot for this song!

  • i thought it was sang by bodjie law of gravity.......

  • May I know who did the vocals on this great OPM song? Is it you Danee or the late Henry? Thanks alot.

  • Hi, Both of us did. solo parts on the verses and unison on the refrain parts. We also played instruments in the recording

  • Hi Dan, do you still have scanned copies of the album? just so we know what it really looks like. I've been trying to get a CD copy of this song ever since CD's became available. Thanks

  • Hi ! There are actually 3 versions of this album. The first was released in 1978 by Disc Corporation. It had a picture of me and Henry on the back. The 2nd version (same contents) released by Waener (WEA) back in 1981 had a huge clock on its cover without any pictures. The 3rd version was aCD and contained old and new versions of the songs and was released by Sony/BMG with our pictures again. All 3 releases are out of stock
