hey man i wanna do an engine swap but ive a 96 ford mustang with a 3.8 and i want a bit more power i wanna do the swap for a 5.0 8 cyl. engine. do i need new wiring harnesses? new angine mounts? and a new computer? or what exactly do i need for this swap??
nice. btw, how long did it take u to restore the car? im starting up my mustang project. putting a 5.0 HO w/ t5 transmission. and putting a sn95 interior w/ a concept x body kit. plus adding a cobra snake in front. btw, my mustang is an 82.
@LilJR704 Took a few years mostly since I was young,learning as I go,and on a budget....Sounds like your mustang will be a nice build and kinda cool its on an older fox body since most seem to just want the 87-93 aero style.

Do you know how involved it is to swap to the 4.6? I know you need a new computer and stuff.. but is there any major fabricating or anything?

I feel like i'm taking care of a really old person, always having to fit the bill at the hospital. I hate it. But i love my car. Any tips, cuz i'm starting to want to trash it and give it back to the dealer.
this is very nice i had mine rebuild to and painted and runs great but i was reading some of the comments and wow did u really only spent 3,000 buck thats really good i had to get a bunch of stuff for mine and it cost me 15,000 and it still needs some stuff not to much now just the air conditaning and to re do the interior and thats all but yours looks pretty freaking good!!
yeah dude 4cyl trans are better then 5.0 trans bbut all you have to do is get a 5.0 5 speed bell houseing dude the gear ratio will rip your fucked head off thats what i did bought a 4cyl because im young and driveing a 5.0 mustang the insurance is going to be hight so u just have to pay insurance on a 4cyl keep the 4 cyl trans im telling u its better gear ratio ill should have a video up soon ill show u it

@johntedrowjr yes it will, but you will need a special throwout bearing that is the inside diameter of the 4 cyl tranny imput shaft and the outside diameter of the 5.0 throwout bearing. Napa carries this part under part number 6202-RSJ

Anyways, how many gears does a stock 5.0 automatic have, 4 gears or 5?? All info appreciated.

The car pretty much is destroyed now since the guy that bought it out from under me sold it to someone who bought it,tore it down,left it outside undcovered all winter,and now is in jail.
I was working on it from August 2002 till july 2006.
well worth the $375. i wish i found a deal like that, because im redoing everything in my mustang anyways, and i paid $1500 for it. but it only had "a few problems". but nice find and good work.

Stock auto transmission is a 4 speed. Technically 3 speed with overdrive, but its a 4 speed

Yeah car was origanally a 5speed (T5) but it was trashed so I got a pretty good deal on a used AOD and just used that.
