When I see this video I get the sense that he senses that he's different than the dog. With the dog it is so natural for him to come to you and play and get pet yet the fox's instinct tells him that he can't really feel jealous because he is wild and always will be wild. I think foxes are remarkably smart.

yes.. he got sick and then flies wouldnt let him go, it was like if they were eating him alive, we cleaned him and then put him in a basket covered in blankets but i think he didnt eat and lost his strength and died :(

if they grow up with humans its no problem. if they stay most of the time outside with enough room to play, etc. then they are better of then in the wild because of cars and so on.

You can't keep foxes as pets, they are incompatible with humans. Having a fox isn't like having a dog, foxes can't just be tamed and trained, no matter how young you get them

This is a very rare one-off situation. I'm surrounded by foxes. I know a lot about them. They are solitary and do not relate to humans like normal dogs. Your pet dog sees you as a member of its 'pack'. Dogs are pack animals. Foxes are not. Foxes do not make good pets and are exceptionally difficult to train. Learn something about foxes, don't just rely on this video. Nature cannot be changed.

they've actually domesticated foxes in some european country (i can't remeber exactly which country) but you can domesticate any thing with selective breeding (excluding reptiles and amphibians). my dad volunteered at some place and worked with a fox, their alright. timothy tredwell made friends with a fox. as long as you aren't abusing them or hitting them what's wrong with owning an exotic pet(as long as you've done research, though)?

It was Russia, at a place where they were bred for fur. In less than 20 generations, the foxes were domesticated, but they lost all value as fur foxes. Their fur became bi-colored and their ears went floppy.

I think it's awesome you can let your fox run loose like this and still bring him in. I wish I could let Tod loose but we live near a road and have too many dogs that wouldn't get along with him. But he has a nice lot where he can run outside and inside of a little 'house' where he can climb about with his cat friend. :) I also bring him in the house sometimes. But he likes to scent mark everything now, lol.
