Not true, you can get the basic jist of most riffs (especially in metal) if you know your chords. I learnt all of Lay Down and a few Metallica song s without tab. Power chords are the easiest to figure out too lol.

Yep the EMG's are a perfect match for the Les Paul, and since they are active (uses batteries) they give a great metal sound.
