NO. Over 60 years ago your mom did not need insurance and neither did anyone else. We had health care that was the envy of the world over 60 years ago and almost no one had insurance.
We must not FORGET that this is the GOP platform in a nutshell! Pass this video around to all who think we've achieve equality. They like their women barefoot, pregnant and dependent upon the men in the family, from cradle to grave.
This is why we need to push for more women in political office, to counter the ridiculous statements made by Southern-thinking men who think women's needs are irrelevant to ANY discussion. Someone...anyone... take away their viagra so they cannot propagate further!
@rff2206 He was not saying that women's needs are irrelevant. He was saying forcing people to pay for a specific benefit that NONE of them will use, including some women, is going make the insurance too expensive. Maternity benefits are expensive. Companies know you don't get the coverage unless you ARE planning on having children. Some states require this benefit in all group plans which makes the cost of COBRA outrageous.
@eatsmaqqz I want insurance for the diseases I cannot afford. I do not want to pay for coverages that I will NEVER need because I PAID to have my wife's tubes tied. The government SHOULD NOT be telling me what is best for me. This is not about making insurance more affordable. It is about making private insurance non-existent. The President KNOWS this, and is lying when he says otherwise. I will tell him to his face that he is a liar.
@shepeeisme I am not being disrespectful but truthful. I will the President had been honest. I can respect honesty and still disagree with it. However when he stands up and says you will keep your coverage and your doctor, HE knows he is lying. He knows that what he really wants is single payer, government run healthcare. In fact, he needs it. Medicare and Medicaid are going broke unless he can fold them into one big program for everyone.

I wonder who paid for the seven grandchildren to be delivered. I thought McCain was a horse's ass but this guy takes the cake. Are all the voters in Arizona idiots?
Repugnitans have had this thing sitting on their desks since Teddy Roosevelt, not Kennedy, and they do nothing. Now Kyl gets up and says the Democrats are rushing this thing. They had majority in Bush White House, both on them, majority in Clinton second term and majority in Reagan White House and they did nothing. Zip. The reason we can't wait any longer, that it has to happen now is because these fat ass Repugs never do any thing except send kids to war and let the sick die on the street.
اOf course Kyl's not wrong.x Us men also shouldn't have to pay for ovarian cancer coverage or for uterine over bleeding, or breast cancer women either!x
It's very simple Wow: Because they have a partner, and want to have children.
Putting the cost on one of the parties, the woman, is actually discriminating.
What if you're a asingle man, and never wants to have children then? Well.. Society needs for people to have children, otherwise it'll die. Therefore it's fair for all to pay into this.
Wow! I've been watching this Kyl guy in the news. I know this is tough thing but he is proving to be the dimmest bulb in the vast field of dim bulbs once proudly known as the republican party.
Seriously though... every time I hear the 'well I shouldn't have to pay for x because I'm not a woman' I want to smack someone on the back of the head.
The point that Kyl and a bunch of the armchair bureaucrats here don't understand is that it all gets averaged together and is cheaper as a result. Women pay for men's prostate exams and penile cancer treatments. Men pay for womens' maternity care, and because so many people are pooled together, each of those things is cheaper as a result.
But really, what kind of douchebag thinks maternity care should not be covered? Seriously, that's just greedy self-interest taken to a pathetic extreme.
The point that Kyl was trying to make and was not allowed to finish...is that we are all paying for state mandates that dictate to health ins co's to cover costs that no one owning the policies would ever utilize. I myself don't want to pay health insurance for trans-gender sex changes but, because state mandate dictates to an insurance company I am therefore....responsible? Come on.
When you base your conclusions on false pretenses what do you have? I guess that is why the republicans go down the toilet as we speak. Neither have you ever nor will you under this new plan pay for anyone's gender change operation. Most of those are done in third world countries and paid for out of pocket. No wonder the republicans have no credibility when they echo nonsense so willingly. Republicans: not just terrorists. Very stupid terrorists-better buy a bigger yellow ribbon, albaa5az.
I am not basing men, but this is the kind of ignorance that prevails in the US and most of them are made by uneducated men on the issue of women/heath care. The same type of men that said, that we "don't feel pain during menstruation, that it is all in our heads". God, no wonder we are in a laughed at outside of the US because of bad decisions the Senate makes. I cannot stand some of these people that run our country. Where did they get their brains, the Dollar General Store?
@ valerysgirl: I'm a man and I will say that your comments are right on. Wanna know why the Republicans in Congress were pissed about Clinton receiving oral sex from Lewinsky? Because Republican men treat their women like trash so they never get any of the *extras*. ; )
Do you honestly believe couples engage in reproductive activities and it's a "mistake" when those activities are successful and produce a fetus?
That is so misinformed it's funny.
If birth control methods aren't reliable it is not a mistake, it's poor risk management and the couple should not have participated in an the activity in the first place. Reproduction IS the goal not an unintended consequence.
well... i don't have the statistics with me. but out of 100 sexual intercourses, i doubt if having babies is the goal of more than 10 of them. ask yourself, do you have sex every time wanting to have babies?
Are you actually admitting you or most everyone you know had no idea sexual intercourse could result in a pregnancy? That kind of ignorance is nothing to boast of.
When I use the phrase "is a goal not an unintended consequence" I mean directly that it is a reasonable expectation. Only ignorance of the biology behind reproduction could give anyone the notion that sex is not how you get pregnant and have babies. Don't want babies don't have sex. It really is that easy.
Same rules apply. And they are rules of biology so there's nothing can be done that is not irreversible. It's a fact of Nature. Sex produces offspring. Nature takes no notice of the social orders of Man. Snip some tubes of one or the other party's, but that's consistently unreliable and tantamount to mutilation and not birth control.
well... as you admit, your wording was quite misleading. i wasn't talking about those who don't know sex can lead to babies. that's why we need sex education in schools.
"Don't want babies don't have sex. It really is that easy." what about married couples who don't want to have more kids?
I don't intend to make this a personal attack. My attempt was to clarify what I perceived as an intentional misuse of terms describing natural phenomenon. So I agree, a rational discussion of reproductive issues with adolescents can be expected to be VERY productive w/o producing offspring that are neither "expected" nor desired.
My plan too. Get this, they don't cover childbirth expenses, they don't cover birth control pills, but they do cover viagra. Sex is only for dirty old impotent men, i guess.
I've said it before, I'll say it again...if these right wing, old, conservative white men want women to stay home, pop out babies, and cook all day...they should move to AFGHANISTAN OR IRAQ. These ppl need to stfu. I hope Arizonans (i.e., WOMEN) will kick Kyl's ass out of the Senate when he runs for re-election
genealogist66, as far as not being able to afford healthcare, things like this video shows us why healthcare costs so much. Another part is that many think a minimum wage job is meant to be lived off of. It's not, they are for kids, retires, second income, ect.
As far as being uninsurable, if you could buy across state lines I'm sure everyone could find healthcare that would cover them.
Protip: when all you can find is a minimum wage job, are you supposed to die in the street? Fuck you, not everyone can get a job that pays better than minimum wage.
Many don't qualify for more than a minimum wage job, so how are they expected to earn more with another, better paying job?
Even educated people are finding it hard to find something that pays better than minimum wage. It's the result of people wanting to buy what they want at the cheapest price they can get.
Harry Reid plans to sneak a mystery health care bill through Congress and the President, no debate, no public scrutiny. The most reprehensible aspect of Reids expected move, the bill will be written in a back room in the Capitol, no one will know whats in it until it becomes the law. What we do know is that it will be a trillion-dollar experiment with drastic cuts in Medicare, massive tax increases, and more ways for the government to make your personal health care decisions for you.
Some people are assuming that only people living off the system are the ones without health insurance and cannot afford healthcare. They are the ones in need of a reality check. There are a number of people who don't get health insurance because they don't make enough to cover the plans out there, or they are uninsurable. People may think their health insurance plan is great, wait until they get sick.
Kyl is a professional politician who has been living off the system for years. His constituents are corporations. And he believe a woman's place is in the home.
Kyl is a professional asshole. He is also a racist. I have watched the Senate Finance Subcomittee meetings on healthcare reform and he had NOTHING positive to offer. If the Republicans really wanted to be part of the reform debate, they would offer meaningful admendements. I hope no one believes that the Republicans have not been invited to be part of this debate, because they have. Over 160 GOP amendments have been accepted. The meetings have been transparant and open.
I'm confuesed why everyone is calling him selfish. Is it because he won't allow you guys to suck away all of his wealth. Someone can just as easily make the argument all of the people who are "unable" to afford healthcare are being selfish by trying to take eveyone's wealth without working for it. Its no different than claiming that CEO's take people's money with working for it. You all need a reality check.
hey a person or a company that, thru hard work, and taking huge risks, doesnt deserve to make money! the only thing that makes sense is, we need to tax the successful and reward the failures. we need to take rich peoples money and use it to pay for a welfare receiving drug dealers heart surgery. its the right thing to do you dumb republican!
It isn't about sucking away "his" wealth. The matter for discussion is why every other western first world nation includes maternity care in their health care system and the United States does not.
Couldn't your mother use some time off from work to take care of you when you are in your most required time of need? The working woman is still a woman and when it comes to raising a healthy child they need time.
As an old-fashioned republican you should be ashamed of putting cash over people.
As an RN for some 20 years, I'm ashamed and disgusted that this "man" is in the United States Congress!! He is the epitome of ignorant selfishness.... He even sneered when making the disrespectful comment about his own mother! God help America ~~~
Moonkatt88, What was disrespectful? His point was totally valid. Why should the gov't require maternity care when he obviously wouldn't need it and all it would do is jack up the price of his insurance. And having been living in Michigan for 20 years I can tell you how badly Stab-a-you-in-the-back has hurt this state and this country.
thats... not exactly the same thing as a nanny...but Ya! You wont need to pay for anybody if We let the free market lower costs instead of obama care Ya! oh and kick out the 20 million illegals that flood the ER ya!
Nanny? What planet do you live on? You think maternity care is a nanny? Oh and the free market with the insurance company maximizing profits and cutting benefits and increasing premiums? You think that's free? You must live on Mars you don't know what you're talking about.
Amen Mscamel! The private health insurance industry has NEVER been a "free market Capitalistic" inditiy. They have been ripping Americans off on the backs of the dying people. My hope is that when my 4 year old Grandson turns 18, he will have to look in a history book to see what a private health insurance company is. God Speed!
I don't need viagra - so why do I have to pay for that for these old ass farts on medicare. His mother should have had an abortion - save the world from one stupid pig man.
you are a perfect example of why a Representative Republic is so fragile. All people have a say in this great country even people like you who have no judgment of any kind. His point was that health plans should be tailored to what individuals need not some Orwellian monolithic bureaucracy where a man will, by law be required to get a pap smear annually or a women well need to have testicle exams . As I browse the comments above I have decide that personal responsibility is dead
I don't have any kids in school and yet I have paid school taxes for 30 years. Can I use the same dumb argument Senator Kyl used to not pay my taxes? It just goes to show that some people only think of themselves!
Wow! What a douchebag! Why are people who don't give a shit about all people representing people? Since women are more likely to get breast cancer, should that not be covered either?
A public option will not be enough. We need SINGLE PAYER such as civilized countries who care about their people have. It is obvious that those who oppose government payment for health care don't care that the US is #37 in health care.
Look to our neighbors in Canada. If any candidate in Canada suggested privatizing health care he/she would be soundly defeated.
Here it is greed and profits that rule and to hell with the people. Just let them suffer and die is the mantra of too many in the US.
The World Health Org stopped ranking in 2000. Look to Canada? #30? Hmmmmmm.
The way the W.H.O derived these ranking were heavily weighted on money spent vs. GDP. Obviously we have a lot of waste and need to curtail the waste an inefficiencies, but that is why we have such a low ranking. England ranked 18th and if you can tell me that the U.K's system has better health care, I have some ocean front property in Nevada to sell you.
You dumbass your joke in Michigan is Michele the biggest dumb fuck Bachman - I can see why she doesn't stay home and raise her kids because she is to stupid to tie her own shoe. God you people are worse than alabama - what the fuck is in your water dumbass
This is why the government should provide free healthcare.Just like England does and they could be talking about something else more important like ending the wars and creating jobs.Everyone should have free healthcare, even republicans.I just dont get why theyre so against it.Oh wait,it's because they wont be able to make money off the sick anymore.
Wow, I don't have a prostate but I wouldn't argue health insurance shouldn't cover prostate cancer. Is Kyl for real? Doh! Just another Homer Simpson senator. Go Stabenow!
I love how Republicans "pretend" they care about everyone but always use the word "I" when they speak. So take my broad brush and go fu** yourselves..oh then see if brush removal from anus is covered in your policy
This proves the ignorance of liberals broad brush of one shoe fits all. With all the mandates, taxes and fines in this bill, it is a failure from the start. how do they want to fine all those people who are unemployed and unable to get insurance. Even more on the side of actually breaking down barriers to obtaining insurance via cross state policy buys, and not mandating care that is not needed. The only mandates they should pass is pre-existing conditions and not dropping you.
I like how the staff assistant had to tell Ms. Stabenow what her response should be, lol. This just shows how stupid liberals are. Libs want a single payer system because they are too dumb and too lazy to take the time and "really" reform our HC system.
Allow this typical male to educate your ignorant ass. Sen. Kyl was trying to introduce an amendment that would divide ins. policy into individual policies. Meaning "you" do not need prostate coverage and a man does not need maternity coverage but when you buy a policy everything is included which in turn drives up the cost, your paying for services you will NEVER use, understand?
What you fail to understand helen, is that placing mandates on insurance companies to cover broad areas only raises the liability of coverage for insurance companies. So why should I have to pay for the liability of aromatherapy, massage, sex changes, boob jobs, etc etc, when I am a man and all I want is to go see my doctor? If the liberals pass this heap of junk reform, all they will do is RAISE prices.
It's nice to know that Sen. Kyl is against requiring insurance companies to cover expecting mothers...simply because he never was an expectant mother.
a 'spend down' (deductible). Go ahead and cut these 'unnecessary luxuries' out of private insurance policies... it doesn't matter. You'll pay for it anyway when that under insured woman gets her medical assistance... and not only that, you'll also pay for that dental work she'd been putting off because of her private policy's high deductible... and hell, why wait to make a clinic app't for that sore throat, it doesn't cost any more out of pocket to go to the ER instead... at least to her...
Please look up the criteria for a person's eligibility for federally funded medical assistance as it stands RIGHT NOW... TODAY! Pregnant women in the US can very easily get federally funded medical assistance. The program for the pregnant demographic allows for a significant personal earned income (275% of the federal poverty guideline)... and women with income exceeding this ARE STILL ELIGIBLE most times with...
How come people figure they can't pay anything out of pocket on their health care? Thats like calling your homeowners insurance if you drop a plate. Do you do that? No, so why do people pitch a fit if they have to pay $ 20 for an RX. Insurance is to protect you against major loss not every single little thing. Ring Ring, Hello, how can I help you? My sink is dripping.
$20 for an RX is not much if you only go to the pharmacy when you are sick for antibiotics, zpak, etc.
However, you need to think of the people who have to pay $20 a month on each of their MAINTENANCE medications. For example a type 1 diabetic needs test strips and insulin EVERY month. If that person also needs medications like Nexium, Gabapentin, and Cialis, for gastroparesis, neuropathy, and erectile disfunction - all complications of diabetes - their RX bill is a MINIMUM $100 a month.
Actually I am type 1 diabetic since I was 12. 32 yrs now. Yes I pay lots at the pharmacy. My point is, people expect every little thing to be paid for. It is an abuse of the system. They expect it to be paid for if it has to do with their body. Insurance on everything else is to cover massive losses, not daily expenses. You dont get car insurance to cover a new clutch. You call them when you have an accident. By the way its more like $400 for insulin strips ect ect. Competition would lower that
squeakymarm: The republicans plan would allow you to do that. It is currently very difficult for companies to offer coverage out of state so you only get to choose from a few diff policies. Tort reform would allow you to buy a policy from anywhere opening up choices and increasing competition among companies. That is one of several things in their plan.
well, I'm gonna get killed for this comment, but now that the Democrats are in charge, the only thing we can do is sit around and pay for their wellfare...and I'm not even close to being rich...lower middle class and I am paying for people that don't work and I really can't afford my own health insurance premiums...
My mother's abusive. . . please watch my videos about her. . . help. Tell all your friends. I need to get out of here. Help in whatever ways you can. thanks.
dremmeth u r full of caca.,the spaniards portuguises, frenchies and english, was invading the world all over., and the whitis never live in pece with the natives., thanks given was only a damn get together to check each oter potential and arms., so cut the crap and be realistic
I didn't say they weren't. However, the first colonies in what is present day US were peaceful. Until Europe figured out there were resources to get and started moving other people into the area in a more concerted effort to colonize the "new world".
Exactly. To so many men, and too many men in power, being male is "normal" while being female is not quite normal. How many of these dinosaurs need to die off before this mindset does?
I think the point being made is, it should not be automatically included but included optionally. Currently, many insurance providers allow for employee +1 vs family for those who don't have (and don't plan to have) any children.
BTW, you have Skene's Gland, functionally equivalent to a prostate and it does get cancer.
I agree, viagra should only be covered IF it is for a diagnosed medical condition.
Operative word being PLAN. Oft times babies come UNplanned, to married as well as unmarried, and maternity is being treated as an option one should have opted for in advance, or worse, a preexisting condition that can be denied! America's WOMEN are carrying all the risk, medical and financial, for bearing America's children!
They can come that way but generally "unplanned" simply means no one made an effort to avoid it. If your lifestyle is such that unplanned birth is a possibility, then opt-in.
Moreover, if you get pregnant, there should be two people who are paying the costs, not just one. Again, if you have a lifestyle where it seems a reasonable risk that you could get pregnant and not get support from the father, I'd say opt-in.
Either way, it's a choice you make (or fail to make) - not a disease.
There are two problem with an opt-in system. 1st, people who "choose" to have children will be penalized for their choice with higher premiums--is that really the incentive system you want to set up? 2nd, as people are inherently irrational (see behavioral economics if you have any doubt), many who choose to "opt-out" will go ahead and have children anyway. Without proper prenatal care, these people and their children will have health problems that will end up burdening our health care system
This is precisely the reason state intervention is sometimes necessary to make markets more efficient. You know that an opt-in or opt-out system will ultimately cause the system to lose billions, yet you insist on it anyway because you want to save a few bucks a year in premiums. No wonder a private health care system is so inefficient.
Exactly this is the reason our insurance is so high ... 50% of Americans i.e. males (who have HC insurance) pay such junk premiums as maternity healthcare even knowing fully well they will not need that ...
and what about a 75 year old woman (what the heck even a 50+ year old woman) paying maternity healthcare? I am pretty sure that 99.9999% of such women do not need that ...Isn't it?
Any man in this day saying he doesn't need maternity care is silly. Most men I know are sexually active. To charge just women for maternity care, when it usually takes both a man and a woman to produce a child is short-sighted and goes beyond stupidity...
so beside the whole black on black b.s. what is the deal with this whole maternity care crap. stabenow should of never made it to office because she is a direspectful hag.
no, his mother probably didn't need maternity coverage; medicine used to be immensely less expensive because the government hadn't forced corporate/government managed care on the people.
When patients paid the doctors directly, there was a lot less waste and bureaucracy, there was not on an artificially inflated demand by the government which priced out those who would otherwise just barely be able to afford health care.
My mother died from complications of childbirth "back in the good old days" that you would like to return to. Now if people would just stop having babies (abortions are actually much simpler & safer than childbirth) not only is it less risky but more importantly ,it would be far more cost effective. Now there's an idea right down your alley.
Doctors used to barbers too but I'd prefer not to return to those "inexpensive" times.
DUMB ASS bastard go with the new world order go ahead and kill ur babies WTF is wrong with u??? kill all babies hey look up Planned Parenthood an organization here in the USA making a campaign for people in USA to become sterile and have abortions and other dumb fucking ideas they might have!!!Once the government make us think u and your population have a problem they want you to accept things and u sir u sound like 1 of their fully brainwashed person!!
And you have a problem understanding sarcasm & irony. I won't ask you to re-read my statement again as you obviously have a problem with comprehension, as well.
FYI, "mme" stands for madame, so I'm clearly not a monsieur.
she was right! but it would be nice if it was optional. As like family insurance should obviously carry it. But for single men, it should be an option, so they have the opportunity to lower there insurance costs.
Not really true. While unpaid medical expenses are included in the overall cost of healthcare, the greater cost is the unpaid medical expenses of Medicare patients.
I can agree with this lol. Why should a man have to pay for maternity health care? I don't see why they should have to. Her counter attack was weak and childish.
I am so confused by her statement. Was the point of posting this video supposed to be that she totally owned him? Because all I saw was a baffling non-sequitur.
Its simple Woman pay for Woman type Health care needs. Men pay for Men type Health Care needs.
Unless both agree to pay for each...
Why pay for something you can't use. It's Stupid... My Taxes are paying for babies from birth to adult as it is. If you can't afford it don't have it...
is sos stupid. health care means health care, from a damn gripe to a fuking brain operation. u all need to get ride of this politicians that are wasting u money u damn tax money that they take a way supposed to cover health education and housing., and what they do to u money>? they keep it for themselves, send to the space, give it for war and support israel., thas wher u money is going u damn hard earned money ,is been trow out by this biches that call themselves politicians for the people
Okay Redumblicans, now this is where you come back with "Elitist!", "Nazi!", "Commie!" or a slew of other words that you don't understand the meaning of.
I don't think I'm going to call these people Rethuglicans anymore, because Redumblicans seems much more appropriate.
You people have become laughable, and the only ones taking your party seriously anymore, are the delusional half-wits that are a part of it. How many idiotic things do your elected officials have to say in a day to make you think you chose wrong?
FYI the reason the Insurance companies get away with high premiums and State cartels is Government regulation and mandates that benefit the industry at the consumers expence. Congress passed those regulations. We may have private healthcare system but private isn't a true free market when Government controls the resources and how they are used. Healthcare lobbyist spent more in the past ten years then any other business. Healthcare cost have skyrocketed. See the connection?
@CommonSenseJoe - I've only read a few of your comments and can see that you are bigoted and greedy. Why else would you want to prevent a majority of the population -- WOMEN -- from basic health care?
Too bad, Abortion wasn't legal when ScumBag Kyl was on his way. it would have saved us a lot of money right now, so glad he thought of others more than himself?
smh that this is even a discussion.
Jon Kyl here's some facts that are intended to be factual:
1. over 60 years ago your mom needed maternity care (because she is a woman who got pregnant)
2. Women still exist in the world TODAY
3. and...they get pregnant (some of them, it's how the human species stays alive)
SO they need maternity care too
oh and...
4. We realize YOU don't need maternity care because...you are A MAN.

The reason we can't wait any longer, that it has to happen now is because these fat ass Repugs never do any thing except send kids to war and let the sick die on the street.

It's very simple Wow: Because they have a partner, and want to have children.
Putting the cost on one of the parties, the woman, is actually discriminating.
What if you're a asingle man, and never wants to have children then? Well.. Society needs for people to have children, otherwise it'll die. Therefore it's fair for all to pay into this.

stonetop 2 years ago
The point that Kyl and a bunch of the armchair bureaucrats here don't understand is that it all gets averaged together and is cheaper as a result. Women pay for men's prostate exams and penile cancer treatments. Men pay for womens' maternity care, and because so many people are pooled together, each of those things is cheaper as a result.
But really, what kind of douchebag thinks maternity care should not be covered? Seriously, that's just greedy self-interest taken to a pathetic extreme.
mrburack 2 years ago 5
The point that Kyl was trying to make and was not allowed to finish...is that we are all paying for state mandates that dictate to health ins co's to cover costs that no one owning the policies would ever utilize. I myself don't want to pay health insurance for trans-gender sex changes but, because state mandate dictates to an insurance company I am therefore....responsible? Come on.
albaa5az 2 years ago
When you base your conclusions on false pretenses what do you have? I guess that is why the republicans go down the toilet as we speak. Neither have you ever nor will you under this new plan pay for anyone's gender change operation. Most of those are done in third world countries and paid for out of pocket. No wonder the republicans have no credibility when they echo nonsense so willingly. Republicans: not just terrorists. Very stupid terrorists-better buy a bigger yellow ribbon, albaa5az.

maskedphrogg 2 years ago
Tell me this was a parody, please.
Reproduction IS the goal not an unintended consequence.
maskedphrogg 2 years ago
well... i don't have the statistics with me. but out of 100 sexual intercourses, i doubt if having babies is the goal of more than 10 of them. ask yourself, do you have sex every time wanting to have babies?
capriconss 2 years ago 2
Ignorance is no excuse.
It really is that easy.
maskedphrogg 2 years ago
how about married couple who don't want to have more kids?
capriconss 2 years ago
Same rules apply. And they are rules of biology so there's nothing can be done that is not irreversible. It's a fact of Nature. Sex produces offspring. Nature takes no notice of the social orders of Man. Snip some tubes of one or the other party's, but that's consistently unreliable and tantamount to mutilation and not birth control.
maskedphrogg 2 years ago
well... as you admit, your wording was quite misleading. i wasn't talking about those who don't know sex can lead to babies. that's why we need sex education in schools.
"Don't want babies don't have sex. It really is that easy." what about married couples who don't want to have more kids?
capriconss 2 years ago
*My wording* ?
I don't intend to make this a personal attack. My attempt was to clarify what I perceived as an intentional misuse of terms describing natural phenomenon. So I agree, a rational discussion of reproductive issues with adolescents can be expected to be VERY productive w/o producing offspring that are neither "expected" nor desired.

genealogist66, as far as not being able to afford healthcare, things like this video shows us why healthcare costs so much. Another part is that many think a minimum wage job is meant to be lived off of. It's not, they are for kids, retires, second income, ect.
As far as being uninsurable, if you could buy across state lines I'm sure everyone could find healthcare that would cover them.
mrchev2000 2 years ago

People may think their health insurance plan is great, wait until they get sick.

badmudda 2 years ago
It isn't about sucking away "his" wealth. The matter for discussion is why every other western first world nation includes maternity care in their health care system and the United States does not.
Couldn't your mother use some time off from work to take care of you when you are in your most required time of need? The working woman is still a woman and when it comes to raising a healthy child they need time.
As an old-fashioned republican you should be ashamed of putting cash over people.

What you fail to understand helen, is that placing mandates on insurance companies to cover broad areas only raises the liability of coverage for insurance companies. My sink is dripping.
shananagans5 2 years ago
$20 for an RX is not much if you only go to the pharmacy when you are sick for antibiotics, zpak, etc.
However, you need to think of the people who have to pay $20 a month on each of their MAINTENANCE medications. For example a type 1 diabetic needs test strips and insulin EVERY month. If that person also needs medications like Nexium, Gabapentin, and Cialis, for gastroparesis, neuropathy, and erectile disfunction - all complications of diabetes - their RX bill is a MINIMUM $100 a month.
lunaria2020 2 years ago
Actually I am type 1 diabetic since I was 12. 32 yrs now. Yes I pay lots at the pharmacy. My point is, people expect every little thing to be paid for. It is an abuse of the system. They expect it to be paid for if it has to do with their body. Insurance on everything else is to cover massive losses, not daily expenses. You dont get car insurance to cover a new clutch. You call them when you have an accident. By the way its more like $400 for insulin strips ect ect. Competition would lower that

I don't have a penis or prostate so I don't think prostate cancer screening/treatment should be covered. Viagra prescriptions should not be covered.
I don't need medications myself. So I don't think that should be part of any health insurance plan as they get so costly.
I don't need any surgery so I don't think that should be covered either.
I don't have children so I think they should definitely NOT be covered.
jocutube 2 years ago 3

ellokote760 2 years ago
I think the point being made is, it should not be automatically included but included optionally. Currently, many insurance providers allow for employee +1 vs family for those who don't have (and don't plan to have) any children.
BTW, you have Skene's Gland, functionally equivalent to a prostate and it does get cancer.
I agree, viagra should only be covered IF it is for a diagnosed medical condition.
dremmeth 2 years ago
Operative word being PLAN. Oft times babies come UNplanned, to married as well as unmarried, and maternity is being treated as an option one should have opted for in advance, or worse, a preexisting condition that can be denied! America's WOMEN are carrying all the risk, medical and financial, for bearing America's children!
jmprmedia 2 years ago
They can come that way but generally "unplanned" simply means no one made an effort to avoid it. If your lifestyle is such that unplanned birth is a possibility, then opt-in.
Moreover, if you get pregnant, there should be two people who are paying the costs, not just one. Again, if you have a lifestyle where it seems a reasonable risk that you could get pregnant and not get support from the father, I'd say opt-in.
Either way, it's a choice you make (or fail to make) - not a disease.
dremmeth 2 years ago
There are two problem with an opt-in system. 1st, people who "choose" to have children will be penalized for their choice with higher premiums--is that really the incentive system you want to set up? 2nd, as people are inherently irrational (see behavioral economics if you have any doubt), many who choose to "opt-out" will go ahead and have children anyway. Without proper prenatal care, these people and their children will have health problems that will end up burdening our health care system
jayhl77 2 years ago
You can also look at it this way - if you don't make it opt-in (or opt-out) then you punish people who choose not to have kids.
Since it is a choice to have kids, why shouldn't it be a choice to have maternity benefits?
Don't like opt-in, make it opt-out then but give people a choice.
dremmeth 2 years ago
This is precisely the reason state intervention is sometimes necessary to make markets more efficient. You know that an opt-in or opt-out system will ultimately cause the system to lose billions, yet you insist on it anyway because you want to save a few bucks a year in premiums. No wonder a private health care system is so inefficient.
jayhl77 2 years ago 3
Exactly this is the reason our insurance is so high ... 50% of Americans i.e. males (who have HC insurance) pay such junk premiums as maternity healthcare even knowing fully well they will not need that ...
and what about a 75 year old woman (what the heck even a 50+ year old woman) paying maternity healthcare? I am pretty sure that 99.9999% of such women do not need that ...Isn't it?

mypenis212 2 years ago
no, his mother probably didn't need maternity coverage; medicine used to be immensely less expensive because the government hadn't forced corporate/government managed care on the people.
When patients paid the doctors directly, there was a lot less waste and bureaucracy, there was not on an artificially inflated demand by the government which priced out those who would otherwise just barely be able to afford health care.
MrLibertyNow 2 years ago
My mother died from complications of childbirth "back in the good old days" that you would like to return to. Now if people would just stop having babies (abortions are actually much simpler & safer than childbirth) not only is it less risky but more importantly ,it would be far more cost effective. Now there's an idea right down your alley.
Doctors used to barbers too but I'd prefer not to return to those "inexpensive" times.

Joe, though rude as hell, was telling the truth; our president, like many others before him, is a serial Liar. And not a very good one.
But this Stabenow idiot wouldn't know the truth if it swam up and bit her in the ass. (Sorry for that visual...)

Fascist : "a corporatist economic ideology" - or Conservative position.
Big Government is Bad Government. Period.

she was right! but it would be nice if it was optional. As like family insurance should obviously carry it. But for single men, it should be an option, so they have the opportunity to lower there insurance costs.

if you have private insurance, you're already paying for someone's maternity care. with your premiums.
landcmg 2 years ago 2
Not really true. While unpaid medical expenses are included in the overall cost of healthcare, the greater cost is the unpaid medical expenses of Medicare patients.

I can agree with this lol. Why should a man have to pay for maternity health care? I don't see why they should have to. Her counter attack was weak and childish.

I am so confused by her statement. Was the point of posting this video supposed to be that she totally owned him? Because all I saw was a baffling non-sequitur.

Believe me, no one in Michigan has ever accused Stabenow of being the brightest bulb.

Okay Redumblicans, now this is where you come back with "Elitist!", "Nazi!", "Commie!" or a slew of other words that you don't understand the meaning of.
carbonatedturd 2 years ago
I don't think I'm going to call these people Rethuglicans anymore, because Redumblicans seems much more appropriate.
You people have become laughable, and the only ones taking your party seriously anymore, are the delusional half-wits that are a part of it. How many idiotic things do your elected officials have to say in a day to make you think you chose wrong?
The GOP, for retards, by retards.

This guy's way of thinking is infantile.
Sounds like a child: "It's not MY mess, why do I have to clean up the living room?"
It takes an adult to explain: "Because we all live here..."

No more Viagra for YOU mister!

Too bad, Abortion wasn't legal when ScumBag Kyl was on his way. it would have saved us a lot of money right now, so glad he thought of others more than himself?

Women should not have to pay extra for reproductive health services because we have the uterus instead of the penis.
