How amazing to finally meet the incredible selfless woman behind our phenomenal hero Gina. Wow. Thank you Shari for your courage and strength to literally keep this angel alive. Your humility is breathtaking.
hi there i had open kidney surgery and to me it was the most painful of any of the 26 surgeries i have had because they removed 4 ribs to get to my kidney, but, i had kidney cancer and they just removed the tumor in the renal pelvis and left my kidney since i am a diabetic. it only works maybe 9 percent but my sugar was way out and now since i am only 100 pounds sugar is tolerable with normal insulin pump ect. the pain from the ribs hurt the most to me they kinda break ya in half ya know ..
This is amazing. I don't think it matters if you end up with ten parts of this interview. I am on the edge of my seat and can't wait for the next part. The ending to this part is gorgeous! I thank BOTH of you for sharing something so intimate and emotional with us.
Wow...if i were urinating blood, i'm pretty sure i'd tell my significant other...in fact, i'd probably lay on her lap and sob because i'm a hyper-dramatic sissy, but i guess i'd feel differently if i'd been the healthy one taking care of an infirmed person for what was, apparently, a pretty long stretch of time. Still, i can't believe she didn't share that 'tiny detail'...
You have great answers, Shari. What will happen if you get a kidney infection, does it matter if you only have one? Do you have to drink more water than usual to clean out your body? I can't believe you could actually see the kidney. How did they have it stored? Thank you for letting us ask.
The kidney was laying in a metal, with ice all around it. Three doctors were operation on it. She had an extra tube connected to the kidney, and they had to do some work on it. I watched them operate on it. It still blows my mind away to this day.
Over the course of time that I've watched your videos, I have grown to love and adore you truly. And I always knew that Shari was a wonderful, precious, fabulous person too, but we never really get to see all that MUCH of her. :) This video series will be fabulous for people who are questioning whether or not to sign their donor card, or even to volunteer for the live donor list. But the coolest thing about it APART from that, to me, is getting to know Shari better. Love you both. :)
Great service you're providing here, Gina. Shari is a gem to have in your life. How fortunate you are to have somebody who cares for you so much that they are willing to truly give of themselves for your well-being.
The two of you are truly inspirational. While watching this I felt a great deal of humility, as I often do when watching videos at this channel. "Give the gift of life" has become a cliche for too many people when it comes to organ donation. Seeing it and hearing it in all of its reality is beyond bracing. Thank you for sharing so much of your lives with us.
hi that was very kind of you to give your kidney to gina.I actually have two cadaver organs and have always wondered who the people were what they belonged to.organ donors are definitely something to be thankful for.
This is awesome and also significant because it reveals the very human side, both practical and emotional, in a somewhat serene way. When Sheri talks about the physical issues after the removal of her kidney it's in a way that the listener can understand in a very real way what "filling that hole in the innards" felt like. I want to hear more from her about this entire experience because we've known and heard your side but she has been a missing piece of the story.
And peace to you, my dear. Yes, we all have it in us. Just watching the other parts to this video. Really really interesting stuff. Applause all round.
This is such a cool video, and I can't wait for the continuation. You both are brave in your own ways, but what's really evident is the will to survive and the will to aid survival. You both made this miracle happen...you ladies are among the most wonderful people I've had the pleasure to meet....thanks for sharing this with us!!!
Wow...I'm understanding. THIS is the first time I've heard anyone say anything referring to a bodily organ and then referring to it as "Beautiful". THAT was inspiring.
Hey EmC.. I disabled the ratings, because this subject shouldn't be something to vote on. Does that make sense? It's too personal to have stars given to it. We didn't make this video for ratings.. It's for information.. peace and love..
Wow, this is profound. I am in awe for your love for one another. It is beautiful.
