They closed the oil wells in Iraq and plan to close them in Iran to instigate WW4, the Saudis want higher prices with such a glut of supply they have encourages the US to choke off as much supply as possible for them to make as much profit as possible.
Seems the keystone XL pipeline from the Alberta oil sands to Texas is rufflin' some feathers. That is peanuts anyways, a much larger pipeline to China is on the books for the near future. Fittingly I guess, seeing China owns and is offering to buy Alberta based oil sand mining projects all the time. Might be China Uber Alles real soon.
BTW, jello does not sound very well informed on OIL SANDS!
Sounds as if he may have read an article or two in some green peace flier.
Alberta sq Km 660,000, population 3.8 million. (only 7% canadian land mass)
California sq km 423,00, population 30 millionish. (3rd largest state).
Alberta has room for some development. Keep in mind this is not borial rain forest, this is muskeg. not like you are going to find the ebola vaccine in Alberta!
"OIL SANDS" people! There is no such thing as TAR Sands.
BP oil spill, Japan`s nuclear disaster and don`t forget EXXON Valdez! These mega disasters will not happen with ALBERTA OIL !!!!
You still need oil to power that Chevy Volt!!!
Another war for oil in the middle east? Just make a pipeline across the worlds longest, safest, unprotected border in the world. And then when we all live off of solar power we can fight a big ol`world war over FRESHWATER.
Call them what they are "Oil Sands" ! there is no such thing as "Tar Sands" in Alberta! Tar Sands don`t exist.
yes, we need alternative energy sources. What are we going to do when every car is an electric car? 900 million wind mills just for california, where you gonna put those? haha, in alberta? not in your backyard?
oh and by the way, dont mess with alberta, you American friends might not only need our oil but our FRESHWATER too! That means pipelines for OIL and WATER !!! cheers!
By the way, if MSNBC is SO "liberal" [even though they've been bought by Comcast] why don't they invite Jello Biafra onto... OH, how bout, Rachel Maddow? He isn't that radical. In a world full of Glenn Becks and Alex Joneseses, Jello is quite possibly the most rational voice out there and is much more interesting than the three I mentioned above!
Right on, brother. Even Olbermann was too far left for their standards, so you could imagine how the guy who wrote "California Uber Alles" about Jerry Brown would get in the way, lol.
Sir, with all respect, I voice a forbearance. We don't need petrol anymore. We as a global culture have the technology to make the step UP the energy ladder from all those aforementioned nasty, poisonous, carcinogenic, biosphere destroying methods.
You make valid arguments. However, they omit the option of abandoning petrol (fossil source in general for that matter) as energy sources.
i am all for an electric motor, no question that is the way of the future.
until someone has one that travels over 100km without a recharge and can start in the cold and is affordable i think we are using gas engines for a while longer. what are we going to do when everyone has their car plugged in? arizona has blackouts from air conditioning units overwhelming the system, 4 million cars charging won't strain the system. oil sands protesters showed up in ottawa last week - IN CARS!
See any of those oil tar sands commercials trying to humanize the whole thing? They're jokes and speaking of net neutrality don't let Harper and Bell get away with Useage Based Billing.
lol a dude at my school told me the story of the time he hit Jello with his ford up in frisco. Jello was jamming on his bike and ran the light then boom!

I refuse to believe there are even 10,000 people who actually want a Chevy Volt, much less are on a waiting list.
Hydrogen Fuel Cells are the new hotness.
